Also I know she performed that song on Oprah several times. What's up with the 1996 Oprah performance though? The video I found has a strange cut in it that seems almost unnatural to me.

You’re probably referring to the album version, which was on the Tellement j’ai d’amour. In it she sings “J’ai deja une roue en vacance” instead of “J’ai deja une roue en France”

 

They (Celine’s producers) did that a lot in the early years for some reason, possibly because Canadian masters couldn’t be used in France and vice versa

 

Off the top of my head, these are the songs that have multiple versions

 

Ce n’etait qu’un reve

La voix du bon Dieu

D’amour ou d’amitie

Tellement j’ai d’amour pour toi

Visa pour les beaux jours

Ne me plaignez pas

Mon reve de toujours (more of a remaster, not a re-record)

for D'amour Ou D'amitié I think the difference is just the instrumental.

I know she also recorded the song in German, Spanish and Italian. Unfortunately, only the Greman (and obviously French) version has been released as of today.

In reality, there is only one version of "D'Amour ou d'Amitié" but it's true that the mix sounds slightly different depending on the sources that they used. I think the best one is the one on "Les premières années" !

"J'ai déjà une roue en vacances" wasn't on the LP ?!? The regular version is "J'ai déjà une roue en France". "Vacances" is too long to respect the rhythm of the phrase. Celine sang it once for her concert in Montreal (1983) , in the Theme park of La Ronde. Well, as long as it is the unique release we have of her early shows.

I didn't know about the film project in 1986. That's interesting.

But we also know that she recorded a German album/German songs and the video for FCQTV in Germany during her break in 1986.

The German album was never released, because of the Sony contract in 1987.

So there must be more German songs out there (Nur das Leben etc.).

No, 'Du Soleil Au Coeur' is available on streaming services too, and it was re-released on a CD in France in 2002.
