Hearing her talk at length about the process, and the backstory of how she almost missed the assignment was so interesting. Imagine spending night after night in the Colosseum with just Céline and her bodyguard, laughing and crying into the wee hours of the morning. Seriously, that is every fan’s dream come true!! scielle Posted May 11, 2021 at 12:05 AM Posted May 11, 2021 at 12:05 AM (edited) I have a 45 minute interview with Jenna on the latest podcast should anyone be interested. That was so great! Thank you! I was particularly struck by the bit about how Celine said she'd like to try other things, acknowledging they may not be as "big" but wanting the freedom to do that. Paradoxically, I think when you're the "hot commodity" a lot of what you end up recording is dictated by other people. They're making a big investment and want a certain kind of sound that they know will hit big at that particular time, and so they send particular writers, producers, etc your way.But when you're past that commercial peak, as an artist, you really do have more freedom. I hope that's true for her and that she really gets to branch out now, and to do more of the things she wants. We talked about Charlotte Cardin a bit in the Celeb love for Celine thread, but she said something similar recently. In an interview with Tom Power on Q last week, she talked about how not winning La Voix was so much better than winning, because on the one hand, she got all the exposure, but on the other she wasn't tied to a very restrictive contract that came with the win and was able to do what she wanted as an artist. She said it's "a blessing to not win those shows" (13:25 min into ) Edited May 11, 2021 at 12:15 AM by scielle 1 Quote
Ajax Posted May 11, 2021 at 10:03 AM Posted May 11, 2021 at 10:03 AM I understand the pressure of doing things a certain way and it gets worst when you re such a star like her. Still I have less and less hope what she says is gonna happen and I doubt she really wants to. We finally had a glimpse on stage after René s death. And that s it. Musically, still nothing happening. And the signs she s sending us with Vegas is going again in the opposite direction. She is maybe the only star of her stardom that has still to make it. Quote
