Loup_garou Posted December 4, 2019 at 09:26 PM Posted December 4, 2019 at 09:26 PM One of Céline's most iconic songs that deserves it's own topic 'cause who can forget that video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDxoj-tDDIU those great performances https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOKBgRcn4po https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2S2MUNx8pb0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hUMz3ZSqq4 The Great Remixes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UV3KPnDB37U The great story behind it told by Elaine Caswell (Pandora's Box), and Nigel Dick (The music video director) Celine Dion, Meat Loaf, Jim Steinman and the weird, wonderful and sometimes sad history of 'It's All Coming Back To Me Now" "Celine is fantastic, so when we had her running across the gravel — I got her to run, like, five times, to get a great shot, as you do, and she's barefoot. The next day when she shows up, her feet are in bandages because she didn't tell me she's cutting her feet up on this bare gravel. She's a real hard worker, I'd work with Celine everyday of my career if I had my druthers, really, she's wonderful to work with." and the impact to this date on popular culture "It's All Coming Back to Me Now" is a Very Weird Song "So often, pop ballads seem to have come off a conveyor belt, designed for maximum appeal by multiple songwriters with minimal risk-taking in the composition. It’s all carefully processed to gently play in the background of your commute. But occasionally, you get truly unique weirdos like Jim Steinman and songs like “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now.” Céline was really going for it in 1996, and she made the decision to have this tune kick off her album. How incredibly bold! She didn’t play it safe, at all, and she was right." and on 2019 Javascript is not enabled OR refresh the page to viewClick here to view the Tweet Javascript is not enabled OR refresh the page to viewClick here to view the Tweet 2 Quote
JulienMcbeal Posted December 5, 2019 at 01:13 PM Posted December 5, 2019 at 01:13 PM Sorry, it just made me laugh that you posted it in the actual context! But yes, let's celebrate this one, thanks for the videos and articles. I knew the first one (very interesting and a must read for every Celine fan!), I will read the second one later (juggling with several things at the moment lol). I remember reading something one day, I think it was a Carl Wilson's piece on the song, not sure... Anyway, the author wrote that the song was a complete mess, over the top anthem, over produced, over sung, over kitsch, and was basically crap... but that it worked amazingly because it was sung by Celine Dion, because she is honest in her advocating for love, because it's who she is, what she belts, what she proclaims. And that without Celine, the song wouldn't work. It's a perfect match. So all hail Celine! 2 Quote Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans

Yes, 'cause there are so many stories, also on the Jim Steinman site it says not only that Andrew Lloyd Webber thought the song was "the greatest love song ever written" (as referenced in the past articles) but that, upon hearing Céline's version, he reportedly said: "This will be the record of the millennium." And in case anyone wants to make a Céline related trip to Château Ploskovice Here's a little tour of that gorgeous place (also used as location for Amadeus by Miloš Forman)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A38vV3kTzJE Edited December 5, 2019 at 01:40 PM by Loup_garou Quote

This is a mashup I made using the instrumental of Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You) by Kelly Clarkson and the vocals for It's All Coming Back to Me Now (my all-time favorite song by Céline). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQKF7LZBAZU Download links are in the video's description on YouTube.I would love some feedback! comingback Posted January 23, 2022 at 07:34 PM Posted January 23, 2022 at 07:34 PM (edited) The story of It's All Coming Back To Me Now: The song was written by Jim Steinman. Meat Loaf (RIP) wanted to record the song first, but J. Steinman didn't give him the song, because he thought it was a song for a woman. So the first version was from the Band Pandora Box (1989): The second version is the most famous and successful one: Celine (1996) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hFfdqgSVpg0 [media]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hiOqg1MojNY[media] And finally Meat Loaf recorded his version in 2006 (with Marion Raven) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=By82Udvc53w Edited January 23, 2022 at 07:42 PM by comingback Quote
scielle Posted January 24, 2022 at 12:02 AM Posted January 24, 2022 at 12:02 AM Since I gather many missed this story when it was originally published a few years ago, here's a great piece about how IACBTMN came to be: https://www.cbc.ca/music/celine-dion-meat-loaf-jim-steinman-and-the-weird-wonderful-history-of-it-s-all-coming-back-to-me-now-1.5086122 1 Quote
scielle Posted January 24, 2022 at 12:58 AM Posted January 24, 2022 at 12:58 AM P.S. It'll be very interesting to see in months to come what kind of lasting impact this current TikTok moment will have on Celine's streaming numbers. I'm currently working on a deal for another legacy act, who had a similar TikTok moment a little over a year ago, and several quarters later it's quite clear it had a permanent effect on the artist's streaming performance. A whole new generation had discovered them thanks to it going viral on TikTok. Hopefully IACBTMN can do something similar for Celine. 4 Quote
scielle Posted January 24, 2022 at 01:23 AM Posted January 24, 2022 at 01:23 AM Also previously posted, but for those who missed it, this podcast also speaks to IACBTMN history (and it’s an all-around great Céline-focused episode): (Sorry about the back-to-back posts, too late for me to edit the previous ones). 1 Quote
