CBC is pre-gaming this.

And they played an excerpt and spoke about this on today's show, which you can hear in their latest podcast, around 22-27 minutes (the excerpt is about recording ABM, so nothing we here don't know, but still fun).

I really love where this is going! I’m proud of her because she’s in a good place. She’s working very hard and it shows. She’s doing what SHE wants not what other people think she should. She is so good and I’m thrilled to see her back on top, doing what she loves.

I love this interview. Especially the little “All by Myself” ending part. However, she seemed to struggle with her English a lot here and of course I know it’s not her native language but I feel like she used to speak English better 20 years ago and that’s just weird. It’s almost as if she’s translating everything she says from French.

Probably because she spent two months in Quebec speaking only or mainly French. Not always easy to do the switch.

And the joy he gets from being flipped off by Celine Dion is priceless.

She was relaxed, he asked good questions and still was in charge.

 

God I miss these kind of interviews.

 

And here you have the proof he was not allowed to ask about the album.

And she been told not to tell too much about it.

Watched so many very similar interviews lately that I nearly didn't bother with this. This was so much better. Very real, not just gossipy, he just asked sensible questions and let her talk.

This interview is fabulous! It really reminds me of classic Celine. Her look from the hair to the makeup to the dress is amazing! It’s light, fresh, and she is so authentic in this interview. I love her I can’t wait to see what’s coming!

At some point she said that would like to sing some of her B-side songs. He could have asked Celine what are the songs from her repertoire that she likes the most.

I love Q; it's pretty much the only radio I try to listen to daily. They always have interesting people on and it's always a great conversation.

 

This guy needs to interview Celine more often, I liked his questions!

 

Yup! Hope they get her in the actual Q studio (maybe when she's in Toronto in Dec? Or for actual album promo?)

 

For those not familiar, Q is an interview show. Long-form, substantive interviews with cultural figures, not the 5-min fluff of late-night TV talk shows.

It airs daily across Canada - and is one of CBC Radio's highest-rated shows - as well as 100+ public radio stations across the US.

They talk to A-list names like Celine, but also up-and-coming talent. Believe they were the first radio in North America to feature and interview Adele, for instance.

 

And sorry, this is a bit of topic, but not really since there's so much talk about her in other threads and since she contributed to this album, here's Tom's recent interview with LP:

Absolutely! He was really masterful.. I was especially impressed about the way he leads into the "Celinaissance".. he's clearly prepared it as a talking point, and he weaves it in expertly.

Celine: [about courage] "to help people.. I would do this for the rest of my life"

Tom: "and you can do it for the rest of your life, cos it seems like every year there's a new generation that falls deeply in love with your music all over again"

 

And him totally playing with her, yet subtly agreeing that yes she needs to talk less : "I left for like 10 minutes"..

She's not allowed to talk about the album prior to its release, but then when it's released she talks everything under the sun BUT the album and the songs. It's kind of ironic, isn't it?
