5 Favorite "Obscure" Celine Dion Songs

Recommended Posts

Posted

I'm sorry if some iteration of this already exists, or if I have posted in the wrong place. I was wondering though; what are people's 5 favorite "obscure" songs by Celine? For some guidelines, I was going to say that; 1) the song can't be well-known by the general public, and 2) the song can't be from one of her studio albums (live albums and compilations can count though).

For instance, my 5, in no particular order, would be:

1) It's Hard To Say Goodbye

2) Is Nothing Sacred

3) Ain't Gonna Look The Other Way

4) Hymn

5) All Because of You

1. Send Me A Lover

2. Comment t'aimer

3. Tonight We Dance (Extravagance!)

4. Can't Live With You, Can't Live Without You

5. Map To My Heart

And I would also add:

6. Fais ce que tu voudras (it's quite obscure for general public, however it was released as a single with a video clip)

7. Ain't Gonna Look The Other Way (Perhaps not so obscure as those above)

I would like to add:

You and me

Ain´t gonna look the other way

The reason I go on

All because of you

Map to my heart

and I would also add the following songs, although they are on a cd, because they fit here I think:

Voler

There comes a time

Les jours comme ca

Save your Soul (with rap part by Malcolm Kelly)

Ma nouvelle france

:)

Love this topic! Perfect way to calm down regarding the new English album and reflect on the history each of us already has with Celine and her music.

With that said, I’m gonna have to brainstorm because narrowing it down to five will be difficult!!

1. Hymn (goes straight to my heart)

2. Hymn (most heard song on my Mac EVER)

3. Hymn (my favorite Celine-Dion-Song)

4. Hymn (the only Celine-Dion-Song without my husband having a crisis)

5. Hymn

Nobody has listed "cry just a little" the b side to LCMM i think!!!

Aint gonna look the other way...was just thinking how this would sound with her current voice. It would be good. The studio of this seems so nasally on the belts

Map to my heart, is nothing sacred anymore, and to get to number 5 i am slightly breaking the rules and including her cover of "my way"

Thank you! I had never heard of "Nadie lo entiende" before, but I went to go listen to it. It's good! :)

Love that one! Crazy to have her doing backing vocals for a 'unknown' (in some countries) group.

That group were/are friends with Humberto. He suggested the song needed female backings, and he asked Céline if she wanted to do them :D

It was a total waste for Céline not actually *singing* some lyrics in Spansh for that song Nadie lo entiende. At least as a Spanish fan and familiar with that group Café Quijano (quite popular in Spain around that time) it's incomprehensible how they got Céline in the studio only to do backing vocals and not singing something in Spanish :pinch: :pinch: :pinch:

Or at least they could have recorded a second version with Céline actually singing with the band.

But we know how's Céline and their team: taking the most unfathomable decisions and experts in missing chances

I think it would sooo not work is she sang along.

I love her backings!

I didn't say I didn't love what she did, nor her vocals? :wtf: I did say I think it's a wasted chance to have Céline in the studio, having done 6 songs already in Spanish with great results, and not taking advantage of it to sing some Spanish words in the lyrics and limit her collaboration to just some background vocals. That's pretty different to say "I am negative" with an opinion right? :wtf: :innocent: :bye1:

You're very welcome! I think I discovered it in January or maybe December of last year, and I'm still obsessed with it. There's something about Celine's vocals here that I just love. Particularly her solo bit near the end. I'd kill to get this "instrumental" track only with Celine's vocals.

I wish she recorded more wordless tracks like this. I love her wordless riffs and melismas. I wish we had more of it.

Edit: Oh, and by the way. I know all the words to this song in my head now, even though I don't speak Spanish. That's funny! :giggle:

I always wondered how she recorded that song. As the only wordless song of her repertoire, that's the most obscure recording of her career. I think she didn't even mention it upon its release. I wonder : did Humberto tell her "do watchuwant" or was there a demo?

Anyway she did record a second wordless song, totally improvised with Herbie Hancock when she recorded Mr Pagnanini ( that was supposed to be on LMBTL).

Basically they cut off one of the most jazzmen in the world. 😂

LMBTL could have been quite better in its "urban" side.

Imagine :

Incredible with Neyo

Water and the flame

Breakaway

Save your soul with the rap version

Stevie Wonder

Babyface

2 song with Herbie Hancock

The choir in "Thankful"

It would have been a more consistant concept ( that we like or not) they should have pushed further.

“Somebody Loves Somebody” could have still fit, too. Maybe even “At Seventeen,” too.
