Exactly, someone must have written that on wikipedia after watching 'En Spectacle et en Coulisses', which showcases a concert that took place in 1989 and that in fact was NOT part of the tour

I didn't know it was not a part of the tour, thanks for making it clear.

Since we don't really know much about this mysterious tour, I thought it could be nice to create a topic to share all the info we have about it. Let's start with the few accurate facts from Wikipedia:

· It started on January 11, 1988 and ended on December 18th of the same year.

· The tour consisted of 75 concerts across the province of Quebec.

· Tough she mainly sang tracks from 'Incognito', she also did Ton Visage (cover of Jean-Pierre Ferland's song) imitations of Michael Jackson, Mirelle Mathieu, Ginette Reno and Diane Dufresne and medley of Starmania.

All the rest from Wikipedia is wrong/incomplete. The setlist, for example, reflects the songs broadcast during the 'En Spectacle & En Colisses' TV special from 1989:

1. The songs were not shown in order.

2. The concert itself wasn't really part of the tour. It was one of the few shows Céline gave in 1989. This one was part of an artistic festival in Quebec.

Also, Wikipedia mentions only 16 from the 75 dates that made the tour.

Do you guys have some info you could share with us? ^_^

It's such a shame they didn't release a VHS of these early tours!

Thanks Davey! Didn't know there was already a topic.

It's a shame indeed that we don't have a full show from this tour (it's the only tour we don't have a full show of along with the Celine Dion Tour) Hopefully somebody knows a bit more about the setlist?

Songs she performed for sure: Incognito, Delivre-moi, Lolita, D'abord C'est Quoi L'amour, Bad, Comme Un Coeur Froid, Memory & Summertime.

She used to open with Delivre-moi , if I'm not wrong.

she told everything

she sings what she wants, what she likes, she explains very well

maybe the main reason is not writing her own songs,

she has THE VOICE who cares! :giggle:

It's very difficult to find the dates for this tour as well as for the many shows she gave in Quebec from May to August 1991. I guess we have to dig in old local newspapers. You are in Spain and I'm in Argentina, that's impossible for us since they are not available online. We depend on fans from Quebec. She has also done one-off shows during those years. She was a singing machine! I'm very interested in tracing back all of them. This woman has sang so much and that's the training she's had to become the huge live entertainer she's been since the mid 90s.

I could find many dates from the Montreal shows but I can't get the 42 shows she has reportedly done there. She had to cancel a week in March due to throat problems. Then came Eurovision and the short promotional tour in Europe (both altered the schedule) but she came back to Quebec in late May and resumed the tour. David Foster met her in the summer while she was singing in a tent!

I'll post what I found regarding this tour and especially my research on the shows at the Theatre St-Denis. The 42-show run wasn't consecutive as many sources claim.

CELINE'S SHOWS AT THEATRE ST-DENIS

Tickets for the February 9-14, 1988 shows went on sale on October 5, 1987 (source: La Presse, Oct 3, 1987).

Here's an ad for the shows: http://collections.b...:/52327/2258061. That ad kept being published at least until the issue dated December 12, 1987.

February 9-20, 1988 (Source: http://collections.b...005.pdf#page=20)

On this ad, we can see the additional shows on February 18, 19 and 20. And then, the April 12-17 run (6 shows in a row). No shows on February 15, 16 and 17.

http://collections.b...305.pdf#page=13

So, the first run was February 9 (?), 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 18, 19, 20. The second run was April 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17.

Wasn't the premiere on February 10, 1988? Did the show on February 9 finally take place?

From March 30 to April 10, she cancelled shows due to illness.

http://collections.b...3003.pdf#page=6

This ad includes the third and fourth runs at Theatre St-Denis (June 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19 and September 21 to 25, 1988)(Source: http://collections.b...1105.pdf#page=2)

As of September 26, 1988 she did 85 shows and sold 105,000 tickets.

http://collections.b...2601.pdf#page=8

The fifth run at Theatre St-Denis took place from October 26 to 29, but an add also mentions the 30th. (Source: http://collections.b...901.pdf#page=16). I checked the "Arts et spectacles" section of the Oct 30 issue and it's not included among the events of the day.

Sixth run at Theatre St-Denis (December 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18). I guess it was the last run since it says "derniere chance". It also mentions 35 shows and 140,000 spectators.

http://collections.b...0304.pdf#page=6

In 1989, there was only one show on May 31. That was the show where the TV Special aired in November was recorded. (Source: http://collections.b...:/52327/2262076)

We are missing at least 5 shows to get to the 42 shows her biography and other sources mention. I checked almost every issue of the newspaper for 1988 and 1989 where there was an arts section available. If any Celine historian here wants to double check, they are more than welcome!

Celine did at least 20 concerts at Palais Montcalm:

It seems that fans prefer to focus on her outfits rather than on her singing career. This is all I could do living so far away. I if lived in Quebec I could have probably asked her management team, the theatres, asked for physical copies of old magazines and newspapers which don't seem to be available digitally and so on.

June 30, 1989 Auditorium de Verdun

July 1, 1989 Stade des Caisses populaires, Thetford Mines (18th Fete de l'amiante)

July 11, 1989 International Summer Festival, Quebec City

July 29, 1989, Stade couvert de Clermont

August 4, 1989 Amphithéâtre de Lanaudière (Festival International de Lanaudière)

September 3, 1989 Gatineau (2nd Festival de Montgolfieres)

September 9, 1989 St. Tite (Festival Werstern)

Comparing with the cities she visited in 1985, there must be more than a dozen dates missing. At the beginning of the tour, it was scheduled to wrap up in June but I think the plans were altered by Eurovision and the European promo tour that followed. It seems that this victory and the show itself sparked interest in her among Quebecers and more dates were added not in terms of a proper second or third leg, but in a handful of shows added here and there in between TV appearances and visits to Europe. That makes tracking them more difficult.

So far, these are the dates I could glean:

Jan 1988: 5 (3 in Rouyn + 1 in Drummondville + 1 in Laval, dates missing in Val d'Or and Amos)

Feb 1988: 13 (9 in Montreal + 4 in Quebec)

Mar 1988: 4 (3 in Trois-Rivieres + 1 in Habitat St-Camille)

Apr 1988: 8 (6 in Montreal + 1 in Granby + 1 in Sheerbroke)

May 1988: 5 (4 in Quebec + 1 in Longueuil)

Jun 1988: 9 (6 in Montreal + 1 in Maniwaki + 2 in Ottawa)

Aug 1988: 3 (Baie-Comeau + Matane + Ottawa)

Sept 1988: 5 (Montreal) - At this time the adds reported 85 shows and 105,000 tickets sold

Oct 1988: 12 (4 in Montreal + 5 in Quebec + 3 in Sheerbroke)

Nov 1988: 11 (mostly postponed concerts from March)

Dec 1988: 11 (5 in Montreal + 4 in Quebec + 2 in Trois Rivieres)

Jan 1989: 3 (Quebec)

Feb 1989: 4 (1 in Sheerbroke + 3 in Drummondville)

May 1989: 1 (Montreal)

94 dates out of which 36 were in Montreal + 20 in Quebec + 38 dates for the rest of the province.

Imagine if Sony was wise and release a 35th anniversary of Incognito remastered with a bonus bluray of the tour this year!

But huh.. its Sony so never gonna happen

The best we can hope for is for them to do something massive for the 50th anniversary of her career

It's funny my brain didn't even register that as "Lolita" lol...for some reason I was thinking it was Delivre-Moi because of the way she belts it. But yes, that is Lolita!

I can't believe we don't have a full clip of all the different songs she tried out this tour. A crying shame! "Endless Love" and "I'm So Excited" for example.

Oh my Dion! More footage of her singing That's What Friends Are For...yay!

And wow what a belt (F5?) at 7:11

Are the other songs she does on the show live?

That's an E5!!! AMAZING!!!
