Caledor Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 Hi all, Did some of you buy for example the USF Blu-ray, or the AND LILV Blu-ray ? Is there really a difference in terms of image and sound quality, when watching them on a large screen ? I haven't bought any Blu-rays for now, and would like to know before adding them to my collection. Thank you ! Quote 29.11.2013 Paris Bercy: Sans attendre... the wait is over !

I haven't bought any Blu-rays for now, and would like to know before adding them to my collection. Thank you ! Hi mr subtitler! I do not have AND on bluray, however, watching a dvd versus a bluray on a big screen makes a lot of difference. DVD — Optical discStorage capacity: 4.7GB (single layer), 8.5GB (dual layer)Resolution: 720×480 (480i)Blu-ray — High-density optical discStorage capacity: 25GB (single layer), 50GB (dual layer)Resolution: 1920×1080 (1080p) As you can see, on a bluray you can store way more data. The data on a dvd is compressed , that way all the data can still fit on the dvd.Compression means data loss. The resolution of a bluray is also more than twice the resolution of a dvd! Most dvdplayers play dvds in upsampled scale, emulating 1080p quality, but it is not the same as the real 1080p quality you get from a real bluray.Blurays are really worth buying if you want top image quality and top audio quality. From Celine I have 2 blurays. The 2013 concert in Québec is really amazing quality.Whenever possible, I buy all concert registrations on bluray. Blurayplayers are not that expensive anymore and you can also watch your regular dvds on them plus it is usually has tons of options to watch mkv/mp4 files, smarttv options like YouTube etc. And for AND there is a perfect bluray review about the quality: http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Celine-Dion-A-New-Day-Blu-ray/609/ Edited January 10, 2017 by browseceline 1 Quote <iframe width="640" height="390" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/hl2XkxnYljg" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I also buy movies on Blu-ray whenever possible, as the quality is better. But when you buy a Blu-ray of an "old" movie filmed a couple of years ago, sometimes there is no real difference in the quality (they just changed the medium). This is what I am afraid of with AND. As it has been filmed in 2007, was it filmed in blu-ray quality ? I'm pretty sure that USF was. That was my question. PS: I'm a girl :-) You must confuse me with Condor (who I think is a guy) and does the video subtitling ! It was the beginning of Blu-ray in 2007/2008.Just buy Titanic in bluray, that's amazing on big screen or Friends, the recorded in really high quality in that time already. 1 Quote
