The Celine musical/ Possible Cirque du Soleil tribute in Amphitheatre Cogeco in 2018

Well this is interesting: Live Nation, Araca & EBG Announce Partnership To Stage Limited-Run Broadway Residency Shows

(Of note - EBG was recently spun off from Cirque du Soleil, and its head of production is Scott Zeiger, who formerly headed up Cirque's theatrical division.)

 

Anyway, with 2 biopics in the works, I don't expect anything Celine-related on Broadway any time soon, but it's interesting to see that Broadway residencies are now "a thing" (Morrissey just recently announced one, btw), right alongside the ever-proliferating jukebox musicals.

 

Maybe, just maybe, she'll set up shop here at some point - however briefly.

 

I've said this before, that if she ever does another residency I would like it in "Broadway". It would at least be a change from Vegas, different ambience and feel.

But I would not want her to do a residency that's longer than a month imo. She can can do several short term residencies in NY and Vegas while having time for a lot more in between.

Aaaaaand there's now a Britney musical on the way.

Adding to the list the already includes Carole King, Cher, Tina Turner, Donna Summer.

And the MJ musical apparently still headed for Broadway.

 

Between this and the many musical biopics en route, I guess the industry figured out that music does sell, after all!

A new album could be comprised of unused tracks from Houston’s 1985 self-titled debut album, which are currently owned by Sony."

I'm looking forward to hear her "new" album if it's taken from her prime time era

I missed this when the news first came out a few months ago, but the next in Cirque du Soleil's annual summer tribute series is a show devoted to Quebec Divas. Can't imagine them doing a show like that without Celine content. (Perhaps this is a way of them getting around Celine not authorizing a full-on show, like Cirque did with The Beatles or Elvis or Michael Jackson - but that's just conjecture.)
