jpatdeleon09 Posted November 11, 2017 at 11:19 AM Posted November 11, 2017 at 11:19 AM Everyone's saying here on a daily basis "she needs to sing this, she needs to sing that, work with this singer, duet with that one, scrap this song, bring back the other one, get rid of this dress, this one makes you look old, cut your hair, get the extensions back, don't use the wigs" and a looong etcetera of another bunch of trivial things. After all these things said on a daily basis over and over again, why shouldn't I say that she just would look better with some more color on her skin? Phhhhlease You said that right! Quote

Popular Post smw Posted November 11, 2017 at 07:04 PM Popular Post Posted November 11, 2017 at 07:04 PM (edited) Tuesday night, November 7th, was a magical evening. I was hoping that, by choosing to see Celine's first show back for this leg of shows, Celine would be rested and ready to go... And SHE WAS! Her voice was in top form. She had so much fluidity and power. She was playing around a lot more and seemed very confident. It was fantastic! It was surreal to be in Vegas so soon after last month's tragedy with #VegasStrong posted on many of the marquees. But it was also inspiring to see all of the Vegas employees, performers, and patrons refusing to let that one crazy person devastate the strip. The Celine gift shop had lots of new goodies that I had never seen before. There was a coffee mug with a Unison era picture that I wanted! Some new clothing items. And I was able to get a European tour program! I was in the front orchestra for the concert. The crowd was very much a Tuesday night crowd. It seemed to be pretty much sold out. There were lots of older folks sprinkled with super excited fans like myself. The show started around 7:45pm. The more excited folks in the audience did lots of cheering before the show began. There was a good vibe in the room, but it certainly wasn't the kind of excitement that you get with a tour show. However, it did feel very classy. I think the video intro serves a good purpose for any casual fans or non-fans who chose to go see what all of this "Celine stuff" is about. It reminds folks that she is the QUEEN of the strip and her career is huge. However, I still they could amp up that video. They need to make it more professional and include more career highlights, not just Vegas highlights!! People aren't just in the room with the Queen of the Las Vegas Strip. They're in the room with one of the greatest singers of all time with a career that spans decades and is INTERNATIONAL. I still love when the curtain opens at the beginning and there she is. It's so elegant! Overall, the concert was pretty much the same as the last leg of shows. However, I noticed that Celine seemed more reflective than usual. She reminded us that she still gets nervous, even after performing for so many years. And she spent A LOT of time talking about the other folks onstage with her. She seemed very appreciative. One of my favorite moments was when she was complimenting Elise. Talking about how many years they've sung together. Celine said there have been nights --- dating all the way back to the 90s --- that she wasn't at her vocal best, and Elise would step up and help Celine out. Celine also complimented Kevan, stating that they didn't know if he'd be ready to take on the challenge of doing the Vegas residency and touring with Celine but he has proven himself over these past couple of years. I was able to capture ALL of this on video. I'll upload those videos soon. She talked A LOT. Right before the medley, she talked for ages. Like, I wonder if it was a bit too much....? I know that if I feel awkward then the entire audience must feel it too. She talks for like 15 - 20 minutes about things like whitening strips for teeth. And then she goes into her speech about how she wishes she had more time to perform more songs. It doesn't make much sense. I adore her personality and humor but I'd LOVE more songs in the show / as part of the medley. But maybe some folks in the audience love this. They might think, "Wow, Celine is humble and normal!" I do wish her concert banter was a bit more career-focused. Her voice throughout the concert continued to mesmerize me. It sounded so rested and strong. One thing that confused me --- I always thought that I knew where the lip syncing occurs. And maybe it changes from night to night depending on her vocal confidence, but it very much sounded like the final note in WHERE DOES MY HEART BEAT NOW was live....??? THINK TWICE was a highlight for me. Mostly because I had never heard this song in person before. It's such a powerful, sexy song. I don't think it will last long in Vegas. Because, like others have stated, it's better suited for a tour. But I am so thankful to have witnessed it live. She sounded divine. The visuals stood out to me more than usual this time. It's a show you have to see a couple times to digest. The orchestra. The visuals. Celine. There's a lot going on. And I like to scan the room and check out the audience's responses too! The part of the show that STILL gets the biggest audience reaction is ALL BY MYSELF. She got a standing ovation and everyone truly seemed mesmerized. The best part of the show is being able to rush the stage for the pit. It's surreal being so close to Celine. And she is ALL ABOUT IT. She gave lots of high fives and posed for lots of photos. It's so much fun! And the audience becomes ELECTRIC during this part. It's the part of the show that takes it from a great Vegas show to a truly memorable, one of a kind experience for everyone. The ushers then made us all return to our seats for MY HEART WILL GO ON. I was actually impressed at how organized and easy it was to return to our seats. A few other lovely moments:Celine noticed a married couple slow dancing in the aisle during BECAUSE YOU LOVED ME. She stopped the song right before the part where the audience sings --- and she talked about how beautiful that was. She invited them down to the stage and it was very sweet. Made me think about Celine's never-ending love for Rene. Celine took the time to take photos with a few children in the audience and received a teddy bear from one little girl. Her vocals in RECOVERING gave me chills. So beautiful and effortless. Celine kept giving hints that she "had a big night" and she'd be performing "longer than usual". I didn't know what that meant --- but then I found out she went to Omnia later that night to perform. I saw Celine's team chatting with Pepe in the audience as I was walking out of the Colosseum. He seemed very nice. Lastly --- I think the Vegas show is wonderful. It's a classy, beautiful show. So many audience members who didn't seem very excited at the beginning were SOLD by the end. I love that. I went with my dear friend who's a singer and she was blown away by Celine's vocals. I'm so amazed that Celine STILL has such power in her voice after so many years of grueling performances. More than anything, I was reminded how humble Celine Dion is. She has the kind of grounded-ness that only a seasoned, confident performer possesses. It's so rare. I'm conflicted when it comes to Celine continuing in Vegas for much longer. I love that she's the Queen of the Strip. And she has gained the respect of even the most skeptical folks there. She's brought in tons of revenue. She is dependable. She is one a kind. BUT I think she's a little sleepy there. It blows my mind that she still pretty much sells out over 4000 seats a night since 2003. With Adele potentially coming in and I'm sure other big names will soon come to the strip, part of me wants Celine to REMAIN the Queen of the strip. But another part of me wants her to do other things. Tour the United States. Tour the world. Make a movie. Do more music and big special appearances. We shall see what the future holds... But if she continues in Vegas, I think they should ultimately change the show up to where it's exciting for Celine again. Keep her on her toes. Keep things interesting for her and us die-hard fans. On a side note --------- I saw Cirque's O and KA. My mind was blown. I had seen KA before and it's just spectacular. I've also seen Love and Mystere in the past. I can't wait to see more Cirque shows! I highly recommend them and they make me reflect fondly on the A New Day... days. That was such a Vegas show! I'll post videos soon!! empress Posted November 12, 2017 at 12:35 AM Posted November 12, 2017 at 12:35 AM The hair is better than most. I have been saying for a couple of years how pale she is. I think it looks unhealthy (I know I will get a lot of disagreement from that comment) But she looked so great when she was a little tan. To have a make up face that is fairly tan for the show and pasty white hands is gross. I love her, but a tan would look so much more healthy!! 2 Quote
empress Posted November 12, 2017 at 12:41 AM Posted November 12, 2017 at 12:41 AM I disagree. She could get tan skin without baking in the desert. Pasty white nasty skin ages people and a little color almost always enhances the way you look in your clothes....which she already looks pretty fantastic!! 1 Quote

Thanks for your detailed review.....as we had been there ourselves. Céline is always worth a trip Quote Always be yourself!
