Very exciting news that "Let's Talk About Love" was certified 11X Platinum, and that "These Are Special Times" was just certified 6X Platinum!

So cool that "Let's Talk About Love" is now listed among one of the best selling female albums of all time in the US, along with "Falling Into You" which is 12X Platinum!

It's also very exciting to FINALLY have "My Heart Will Go On" RIAA certified Platinum and Quadruple Platinum!, after being stuck at a Gold certification since 1998.

However... I'm definitely super confused though, because I believe "My Heart Will Go On" should be RIAA certified 6X Platinum.

That's based on the fact that this iconic, classic has sold over 1.7 million digital downloads in the US as of 2017, according to Billboard, and... as of 2020, "My Heart Will Go On" was the top #1 most streamed song of the 1990's in the US, with official on-demand US streams of 651.5 Million!, according to entertainment website jezebel.com, who released an article about the songs from the 1980's and 90's that have stood the test of time, and have had the most US on-demand streams, which said "Early-to-mid-’80s songs fill the top 10, which includes only one from the ’90s (“My Heart Will Go On,” by Celine Dion)".

According to the RIAA, here's the requirement for the RIAA digital SINGLE AWARD*: "This award counts both downloads and on-demand music streams. On-demand audio and/or video song streams are counted towards the thresholds required for certification at the formula of 150 on-demand streams being equivalent to one download sale."

So... if you add up the official 1.7 million song downloads sold in the US, and take 651 million divided by 150, to get the equivalent of the total downloaded sales, that equals 4.3 million in additional downloads as of 2020. When you add 1.7 million + 4.3, that equals 6 million in overall U.S. downloads.

So I truly don't see why Team Celine would only submit a request to certify "My Heart Will Go On" for sales of only 4 million?? Seems strange, like they were ONLY counting the on-demand streams, and not the digital downloads.

Did they forget about the 1.7 in additional sales? I don't get it.

Should we email Team Celine and ask them at webmasterca@sonymusic.com ????

Is there a reason why they have all of a sudden updated these? Im guessing it’s because it’s been 25 years since they were released. Just wondered if there was another reason…

What is Celine’s overall Official selling numbers now? I know it was at 250 million for a long time.

I have never heard of this. I guess such figures should have been evidenced somehow? Her team has not announced anything and certifications remain the same.

I estimated Courage at around 700k as well and then around 150k maximum for each of the French releases cause they are just Gold in France and that's about it. USF must have sold a bit more than 50k there and UPDN a bit more than 80k. Plus they were both released in specific markets only.

With the "Love Again" soundtrack scheduled for release May 12th, do you think Team Celine will request any new updated RIAA certifications?

The new soundtrack features the first new music from Celine since her 2019 album Courage, along with six of Celine’s past hits, several of which have STILL never received any RIAA certification, even though they're eligible for RIAA certifications

Should we all take just a brief moment to send an email to Celine's record label team at Sony Music, asking them to please request the updated RIAA certifications to any of Celine's songs and albums that are eligible? Wouldn't it be so good and exciting to see Celine get recognized with new RIAA certifications for some of her most loved albums and songs?

Here is their email address: webmasterca@sonymusic.com

Celine has many songs, albums, and video releases that are currently eligible to receive initial or updated RIAA certifications in her iconic career catalog, that includes 1 album and video release that can be both be RIAA certified Diamond 72.png!!!

The following songs, albums, and video releases just need to be requested to receive the new RIAA certifications by Celine’s team at Sony Music Canada:

Songs eligible to be initially certified or have newly updated RIAA certifications: 72.png72.png-

  • “Where Does My Heart Beat Now” - Gold
  • “Beauty and the Beast” - Platinum
  • “If You Asked Me To”- Gold
  • “The Power Of Love”- 2X Platinum
  • “Because You Loved Me”- 3X Platinum
  • “All By Myself” - Platinum
  • "It's All Coming Back To Me Now"- 3X Platinum
  • “My Heart Will Go On” - 5XPlatinum +
  • “The Prayer” - Platinum
  • “O Holy Night” - Gold
  • “Happy Xmas (War is Over)”- Gold
  • “That’s The Way It Is”- Gold
  • “A New Day Has Come” - Gold
  • “I’m Alive” - Platinum
  • “I Drove All Night” - Gold
  • “Taking Chances” - Gold
  • “Ashes”- Gold

Albums to be initially or newly RIAA certified: 72.png72.png72.png-

  • “Celine Dion” - 3X Platinum
  • “These Are Special Times” - 7XPlatinum
  • All The Way… A Decade Of Song” - Diamond 72.png (10X Platinum)
  • “The Collector’s Series- Volume One” - Platinum
  • “A New Day Has Come” - 4X Platinum
  • “My Love: Essential Collection” - Gold
  • “My Love: Ultimate Essential Collection” - Platinum
  • “Loved Me Back To Life” - Gold
  • “Courage” - Gold

Video releases eligible to be newly RIAA certified:72.png72.png72.png-

  • All The Way… A Decade Of Song & Video”- 3X Platinum
  • “A New Day Has Come” DVD single- Platinum (currently certified Gold)
  • “A New Day… Live in Las Vegas”- Diamond 72.png ( 10X Platinum+)

If a request for just these songs, albums, and video releases to receive these updated RIAA cert’s, that would be in the tens of millions in 72.png RIAA certifications for Celine, and 72.png new RIAA Diamond Awards!! 72.png72.png

If anyone would like to ask Celine’s team with Sony Music Canada to request these new RIAA cert’s, you can email them at: webmasterca@sonymusic.com :please:

Last November, Team Celine did request to have "These Are Special Times", "Let's Talk About Love", and "My Heart Will Go On" receive new updated RIAA certifications, so it's absolutely something that Celine's team can and should do to honor the legacy of Celine's songs that have become classic's and iconic, and have achieved an enormous amount of digital sales and official U.S. streams for years!!! Celine's timeless songs should be honored and celebrated and Celine should know how much they are loved!!!

I'd love Céline's work to receive all certifications and all kind of recognition it deserves. But...

--> Happy Xmas (War Is Over) is not eligible yet ;

--> I'm Alive is only eligible for GOLD for now ;

--> All The Way is not eligible for DIAMOND yet...but well 9x PLATINUM ;

--> A New Day Has Come is not eligible for 4x PLATINUM yet ;

--> My Love is definitely eligible for GOLD...But we absolutely don't know how the streams of its songs are counted (for their parent studio albums or the compilation) ;

--> Unfortunately Loved Me Back To Life and Courage are far from eligible for a GOLD certification.

I agree with everything except for your comment on ''Happy Christmas (War Is Over)''. It has been confirmed in UKMIX Forums that it is eligible for 1xGold.

No no...I posted the SPS numbers you're referring to on UKMIX last August. "Happy Xmas" had only 360k SPS units by then. The song has unlikely gained enough units to have reached 500k by now.

It's hard to believe All The Way... is only certified at 7 X Platinum when it actually has sold over 8.3 physical units, and that's not counting SPS.

It should likely be around 9X Platinum by now.

Same for My Love, Essential Collection. Should be about platinum by now; at least with SPS. Again, the physical units alone sold over 500,000 year ago

As far as single certifications go, I believe "To Love you more" "Tell Him" and "Beautiful Boy" are very close to being GOLD eligible

But, RIAA only certifies if the label applies. And we all know Sony treats Celine with the bare minimum now. With Falling into You and Let's Talkl About Love's 25th anniversaires the past couple of years Sony did re-certifiy what was eligible. They also upped These are Special times to 6 X. Curious with the 25th anniversary of TAST this year if next month we'll see the Prayer" and "OHN" certified.

Wasn’t Celine going to get some award a few years ago… but then the pandemic happened?

I vaguely remember it being related to record sales.
