i still find the lyrics a bit cheesy, i say that to my son when he comes home (not enough) . Lâche ton c..... de cell.... Let go of your f... cell... Maybe that's why he doesn't come enough. But the thing is that everyone is like him. That's terrible but i think there's nothing we can do, so for me the lyrics of the song are a waste of time. I'm a fatalist i guess. But the music is great.

it is still better than the plamondon song, the guy with no arms.... i can't still not understand that song, this and Always be your girl, the level of creepiness is very high in those two songs.

Cute catchy song, but I wouldn't call it the BEST song of this album...putting it above ALPHB or Ma Force or EUS (the album version is even more beautiful) is a little too much

Yes, the lyrics are a little...corny and since we are talking about ONCP..makes me "sad" that she went to super poetic lyrics (in french at least) to talling kids to leave their cells...

I don't know JJG makes eveything sound romantic, deep and poetic...just listen to the simplicity and yet depth of "Sur le meme bateau" LOL

I find it odd that Grand Corps Malade was involved in this one. 'La mer et l'enfant' had such nice lyrics, and then he produces some infantile nonsense like this. Really don't get it... But the music is catchy indeed.

I like this one, it's seems "light" in a way. Reminds me very much of the "One Heart" era and somehow a bit of "Faith".

But it's catchy and very different from her other French material.

This song is definitely the most catchy tune on the album for me. I'm so torn between this one and "L'étoile" for a second single, but some have pointed out that this couldn't work because it is dedicated to RC and it's addressed only to children, but I don't completely agree: there are tons of adult couples out there that when they're dining out they're stuck on their mobile phones everywhere and not talking, not paying any attention at all to each other.

This behaviour could be perfectly similar to children, since I've heard many times from adult women or men making remarks when their partner is looking at his/her mobile all the time and not paying attention to the conversation of each other or the rest of the group, acting like a little child. This is a childish behaviour, and the song could perfectly work for some adult that treats his/her partner as "mon enfant", because he/she's acting like a child, checking all day the mobile.

 

I mean, the song could have a double reading, and a very interesting one, from my point of view. In a way, we're all behaving like children when we are looking to the screen of our mobile phones in front of friends, we all have done that

 

So yeah, I think this could be single material and everyone could see himself/herself identified with the song

Céline said herself she helped make the idea for the song... I don't think she'd lie on TV, or maybe it was radio.

From what I remember, there was an article where Aldo (or Scott Price, I don't remember this little detail) was talking about how Celine is more involved in the creative aspects, and that we shouldn't be surprised if her name was credited someday in an album... So I guess is this what made some people believe she would be credited in Les Yeux Au Ciel.

I bet the ones who find these lyrics cheesy think JLD lyrics a masterpiece.

 

To me, it's the follow up of JLD. .. 14 years later.

 

It involves more than a message to her son... it's really contemporary and with a real society issue or fact...depends on how you see it.

I have always HATED that line in ABYG. Buttons fall off sleeves all the time! It is the WORST metaphor for a parent-child relationship ever. Sometimes I wish I didn't understand *English* when I listen to ABYG, b/c I love the melody and her voice, but the lyrics are awful.

 

But I kind of like the lyrics to Les Yeux Aux Ciel. i don't have any children, so maybe I'd feel different if I did . . . but I don't think it's meant to literally be spoken to a kid (Like, "Come on, RC, let's look at the sky together,") ..but I think it does a nice job of capturing the emotions of a mother at that stage of life, when her child becomes a teenager. . and she just wants her kid to stop being so absorbed in the screen and do something with her instead as they did when he was small. It's expressing that desire for connection, but with an upbeat melody, not in a desperate sort of way. I don't know, I kind of like it.

Exactly! I feel this song so much because I'm living it at this moment! To me, it's not a sappy song like ABYG. I do agree with you I love the melody of ABYG.
