Mandy Moore & Mel B will also participate in the charity event, airing live Thursday at 9 p.m. on NBC.

 

U2's Bono, Celine Dion, Blake Shelton, Mandy Moore and former Spice Girl Mel B will all be taking part in this year's Red Nose Day Special this Thursday to help raise money and awareness for children living in poverty.

They join Ellen DeGeneres, Jack Black, Paul Rudd and many more participating in the second annual event to be broadcast live Thursday night on NBC from 9-11 p.m. ET, featuring comedy, musical performances and short films, all intended to shed light on children in need across America and around the globe.

The Craig Ferguson-hosted special will also include previously announced guests Ludacris, Zac Efron, Julianne Moore, Liam Neeson, Sarah Silverman, Tracy Morgan, Key & Peele, Anna Kendrick, Seth Rogen, Ellie Kemper, Kristen Bell, Emma Watson, Rose Byrne, Blake Griffin, Emma Thompson, Chloë Grace Moretz, Steve Buscemi, Danny Trejo, Adam Devine and Ron Funches.

The United Kingdom-originating Red Nose Day has raised over $1 billion globally over the last 25 years, according to organizers. It now runs in 15 countries internationally and launched last year in the U.S., raising more than $23 million locally.

I just watched some clips from last year's events. Looks like there were some singers in comedy sketches. Would love to see her do something like that and of course sing! We are getting spoiled this week.

"That's The Way It Is" could work well, too. However, I highly doubt she'd sing that in full again - if she's even singing at this event. I could see her doing a video message and presenting a trip to meet her in Vegas to a child with a beautiful story about fighting against and overcoming the odds regarding poverty. We'll see!

She doesn't have a show on Thursday so I would think she will actually attend the event or they'll show something pre-recorded.

I never thought of a video message. I think that's what makes the most sense. Depending on where this is going to be filmed. Celine is doing her Vegas show and she just performed at the Billboard awards.

 

Her schedule is pretty full at the moment, so I think she is probably going to send a pre taped video message, followed by a performance of A New Day Has Come, or I'm Alive via satellite at Caesars.

I thought Red Nose Day special was a live event. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think it's taped.

If I'm not mistaken on Red Nose Day they usually perform something unusual, some new collaboration, a cover or sketch...usually live and last year was almost 3 hours long.....correct me if i'm wrong...
