Popular Post Caledor Posted April 27, 2016 Popular Post Posted April 27, 2016 Hi all, The Red Heads have shared on their Facebook page the link of an interview of Scott Price, on TV show Les Echangistes. <iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Flesredheads%2Fvideos%2F10154886741923228%2F&show_text=0&width=560" width="560" height="315" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" allowTransparency="true" allowFullScreen="true"></iframe> Here also you can watch the video:http://ici.radio-canada.ca/tele/les-echangistes/2016/ Again, this interview was not easy to transcript, as many people are talking sometimes at the same time... I did the best I could ! Host: His CV is filled with large project, currently he is Celine Dion’s music director in Las Vegas, it is Scott Price!!! Host: I’m so happy I have you face to face, it never happened before, to me it is great, and furthermore, I learned that when Guylaine (lady on the side) went to see you in Vegas about a month ago, there was a big big moment, you did something very rare in the career (of a musician) … What happened Scott ? Scott: I know what you’re talking about, false note, but during the show you (turning to Guylaine) saw it… Guylaine: You did a false note?? SP: Not a real one. When we salute at the end of the show, and everyone stands up, and everyone applauses, and standing ovation, everybody is happy… we have ear plugs you know, and I have a wired one because I think it sounds better, and the wire was on my side and I turn to the piano to play, and by accident, my left hand went stuck, and it made “bang” on the piano, really loud, in the huge Ceasars Palace, a very loud note, I think this is what you talk about… Host: And Celine, how did she react? SP: I think she was talking at that moment because I did not react or anything… Host: So in August you became Celine’s music director, in the whole world they chose you? SP: Yes it is a great honor. Host: How did it happen? SP: Well, one time, I think everybody know it, they made changes in the team, and I had no news, nothing, Host: Yes, they parted with Mego who was there for years SP: and then one moment , hum, I already worked with Celine in 2008, Celine sur les plaines, I did something on her last album in French Sans Attendre, and one day the phone rang at home and it is Aldo Giampaolo, who I know well, I see his name (on his phone screen) and I said Holy s*** (he says it in English)! All: Haha SP: I answer, and we started to talk, it took a bit of time … Host: Did you think about it before saying yes, or is it the kind of offer you shouldn’t think about (and say yes at once) SP: Of course it is interesting, that’s sure, but it is a great change of career, of life as well, and trying to make everything work … Host: Because it is a great change, and there are some artists who went to Las Vegas and did not like their experience … When you say a great change of life, what does it represent, what does your life there look like ? SP: My life there, I stay at the hotel Caesars Palace, we are there about three weeks at a time, it is 18 per year, 18 to 20 weeks per year, it is three weeks there (LV), one month there (Montreal), sometimes one month there (LV) five weeks here (Montreal), but lately I also have been working on her next album, her next French disc, and sometime you can get a call saying “Celine will be singing next week” for example I was supposed to be in Montreal for 5 weeks, and he (Aldo) calls me “Can you come in four days” because I do five songs, so I need to be there when she sings … Other person (guy): is the hotel a burden or … All: hahaha SP: Caesars Palace? I’m not complaining in this matter, no! Host: is it big, Las Vegas? SP: and you know, for me it is perfect, I leave my room at 4:00pm or whatever and everything is done (I think he means housekeeping) Other person: how much freedom do you have, when you say “I do five songs”? SP: we start from scratch, we do all, actually I work with a great engineer whose name is Humberto Gatica, this guy has recorded Celine for long long time now with David Forster, and we start from scratch… Drums, bass, guitars, piano, and when she sings I can give some advice Host: What is the greatest, because you did great great projects in your career, like Star Académie it was a very big project, but you also worked with a lot of artists, Diane Dufresne, some great artists, Cirque du Soleil as well, what is the major challenge working with Celine, in studio or on stage? SP: But Celine, it is funny, many people think that as she is a great singer, it must be… it is the contrary. Celine she will ??? You know when you are music director, what you need to do is for a singer, hum, you need to help them, but Celine doesn’t need any help. She doesn’t need ??? She knows, this is ok, she is perfect, but for the big orchestra you have 29 musicians, 4 background vocals, large strings and what I try to do with Celine… Celine has ideas all the time, you know like in sound check she can say “Do you know this song” and I know quite a lot of songs, and I do (playing piano) and we suggest things, and the challenge sometimes is to arrange a song for 29 musicians by 6:00pm. Other lady: So she brings changes to her show all the time? SP: yes, yes, yes. Not big changes, but some possibilities… Celine is a fountain of ideas, always … Other guy: So she has talent, this girl All: hahaha Other lady: she will go far! (Guy and SP joking) Host: Does René’s absence … how does René’s absence appears? SP: this is a good question. I cannot talk for René in Las Vegas because I wasn’t there. For me, the big experience I had with René was in 2008 for Céline sur les Plaines, I think his orchestra was not available, and there was relations with Progi ??? I was working with them for some productions and I met René Angélil, not like everybody meets him, impresario, decision-maker, businessman, there I met René Angélil the artist, like really amazing, if you remember there were a lot of duets in this show, Eric Lapointe, Ginette Reno, we had two days of practice in studio in Montreal, and René had prepared a document for each song, a little folder, really nice, and he came to Eric Lapointe saying “So Eric you will start here, singing this … “ he thought about everything, he looked at me, saying it will modulate, a key higher, modulations will arrive, and I didn’t know this side of him (René), I said “Ok, I understand”… Host: so he is an artistic partner as well for Celine SP: but Celine now I feel that she takes more space, she has a lot of ideas, we have meetings once or twice a week, and we give ideas, for this summer’s tour… Host: yes, the tour in Quebec, I will give the dates just after… Other lady: Are there things that she cannot sing? SP: honestly, no. It’s scary. Other lady: she sings jazz in her show… SP: yes, she sings jazz. Other lady: it is incredible SP: She does Prince as well. And the last song in the show is “Over the rainbow”, you know the song of The wizard of Oz, I was happy because it was my idea, when I suggested it to her, she said, she expressed herself Celine Dion “oh, I need to finish the show on the ground…” so she arrives at the first rehearsal, and I start to play a bit, and I think there were people around crying, because she works, she masters (her voice) Host: all this, your personality, your work, this really inspired our young Pier-Luc Funk (the young guy) Pier-Luc: yes, because you did so many projects, and everybody calls you the legend Scott Price, but we don’t know the person Scott Price anymore. I wanted to know how someone can become Scott Price. What do we need to study to become Scott Price? SP: To become Scott Price? To love something, and work hard. PLF: And how do we develop its passion for music, when we are Scott Price? SP: We don’t get it, we were born with it. We were born with, yes. PLF: and when we are Scott Price, do we have regrets? SP: Professionally, none, no. Host: No? PLF: And do we call this a regret? (showing video) Applause. SP: No regret, no regret at all. PLF: No regret of course of your hair … SP: that was that time. But you (PLF) you don’t know this Host: You grow old very well. All: hahaha SP: But it went well, that was great. Host: I just saw the look of your daughter who is there in studio with us, her eyes illuminating… PLF: So we are heading for a solo career, Scott? SP: Oh, I have no plans at all for this, I have so much to do with Celine… PLF: But you wouldn’t want to do songs like this one (shows the same video) Host: Thank you very much Scott, really. (Then she gives the dates of tour in Quebec). Scott, what is your upcoming planning? SP: Working on Celine’s album. We resume the shows (in LV) May 17th, for three weeks, then we have a few days of rehearsal here in Montreal, then we go to Belgium and France. Host: Oh yes. Thank you so much for stepping on this TV show. 12 Quote 29.11.2013 Paris Bercy: Sans attendre... the wait is over !
Davey84 Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Thank you very much for all the hard work! Very interesting what he has to say! I am still hoping one of his goals us to change the never changing songs in her set lists. .. But most importantly he says he still works on the French album. I got a feeling that René''s passing changed the concept of the album a lot, which resulted in other songs. I think Celine wants this album to be perfect to honour René! 4 Quote http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v75/daveyh84/incognito198701_zpsaaootxh1.jpgRick, ik hou van jou voor altijd!A New Day... has come 28/29 April & 2/3 May 07Antwerpen 13 et 14 mai,Paris 24 et 25 mai, Amsterdam 2 juinet Arras 7 juillet Chances Taken!!!How Do You Keep The Music Playing? - Celine Opening Night March 15th, March 16th
drove all night Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Thank you, dear Caledor ... simply magnificent your hard translation for for all the poor souls ... like me ... who don't understand the "French tongue". This is just for you: A piece of Bach's "Magnificat": unfortunately without Céline but played by one of the best orchestras worldwide. 2 Quote
mirage Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Celine a fountain of ideas, and meetings once or twice a week. For me they always say those things. And in the end somehow I don't notice those ideas and suggestions. Maybe they are so small I cant hear the difference in her show. But for someone who has a lot of ideas, can sing anything and has a team around her full of ideas... she is quite doing the same thing year after year... 7 Quote
DionFanAlways Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Yes, what changes? We should get tickets for sound checks! Maybe that's where all the changes and differences are? 3 Quote I have had the time of my life following this woman! Much love.

stevo Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Am I only one that heard David Fosters back!!!! Yes I got rather excited at this- does he mean, in general, that Humberto has worked with David...? It's assured that David left his mark on Celine at Rene's Memoriam so I would t be surprised if he wanted to pay further tribute to Rene by being part of the albums Quote
Angel2006 Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 (edited) There is a part in this interview where Scott Prince says that Celine has been working with Humberto Gatica for many years. Right after that it says, now with David Foster. Does this mean that Celine is working with David Foster again? Ha ha ha. Right after writing this comment I see other people are thinking the same as me. Edited April 28, 2016 by Angel2006 Quote
québecflower Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 so , i listened to the interview again, great job Caledor but when you listen to the interview , the thing you should understand , the way Scott is talking, when talking about Davis foster, he was talking about the past... the now is just there to fill the phrase. Because Scott is an anglo, sometimes he uses filler. 4 Quote Plus qu'ailleurs , but now Si c'était à refaire , i still love tant de temps....
