Hi friends!

I am seeking as many funny/sassy/saucy 80s/early 90s videos of Celine as possible! Preferably short clips or commercials. Something like:

Can you think of any to share...?

Memory at 'Station Soleil' (a famous TV show in Quebec from the 80s) is one of the best performances of her entire career, not only because of her crystal clear voice but also her impecable interpretation and how she gets into the character. BEST ENDING EVER

That whole performance -- and the costume -- is just so insanely over-the-top that it's awesome, and of course her voice is amazing, but I wonder how much English she understood at the time. She seemed to be turning every song into an anthem then - I think her singing has much more emotional resonance now.

"Touch me/It's so easy to leave me/All alone with the memories/Of my days in the sun . . . Let the memories live again" . . those are lyrics of vulnerability, wistfulness, desperation, fragile hope. Celine sang them as though the words were "I am woman, hear me roar." Here's another version of Memory, that I think expresses the mix of emotions much better (esp around 3:00 to compare).

I say this with the greatest love for Celine, but sometimes (only sometimes, especially when she was younger, and not in her French music really at all), I understand the critics who say her voice is technically spectacular but lacking in feeling/depth/soul etc.

This is kinda off topic, but I think the critics will not say her new albums like in emotion/depth/soul. I mean, my gosh, look what the lady's gone through in the last year alone! Her voice will surely "show some emotion"! (Sorry had to throw that in there lol)

I think you have to keep in mind that it was a 19 year old girl singing this song. What does anyone at that age know of life and memories? It was 1987 and I think knew enough English back then. To me she sings the song with the full out passion and believe of a 19 year old teenager!

Anyway the clip made Memory play in my head for the last two days :P

I don't know what those critics were talking about when they said that Celine ever lacked emotion in her songs. Never have I ever heard Celine lacking emotion. That is one thing she never has to worry about. I don't know how anyone can say that about her past work when they listen to songs like, Love doesn't ask why, With this tear and Fly.

Those are just some examples from a list of many songs that Celine shows huge emotion. I don't know what these critics were ever talking about. I think they must have been smoking something. LOL.

There are so many artists out there today that lack emotion and go for the big notes. Celine has always shown emotion and delivered the big notes at the same time, never letting one over shadow the other. I think that is why she touches so many people. It's not only that amazing voice she is blessed with, but it is also the feeling and emotion that she puts into the words that she is singing. That is why she is still the number 1 queen of Vegas today!
