Where to go in Montreal

Montreal/Quebec fans and forum friends, just wondering if you have any recommendation for restaurants and bars and shopping. Is Chuck Hughes' Garde Manger worth the hype and cost? I'll be staying at Hotel 10 and I know there's a lot of trendy stuff there. And what's a good gay bar that's not a club/discothèque, and if any not in The Village. I'm going with a straight guy friend so have to divide the times! I haven't been in 2 years so any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

I have a friend that is there at the moment and she went to Garde Manger and loved it. Don't know how pricey it is. She also went to a museum, Musee Des Beaux Arts I think but not sure. They had a piece of the Berlin wall. If that's of interest to you might be worth to check out.
