I don't think this article has any new information. If you read the article itself, it's just quoting Paris Match(which was just translating last week's interviews) and saying his hearing is poor. It's just a sensationalistic headline, which surprises me from the Journal de Montreal.

 

Celine herself said last week that "he can't hear very well" -- not that he couldn't hear at all. I'm sure he has assistive devices -- like the headphones in the pictures, and probably hearing aids in the ear as well.

 

I'm not making light of his hearing loss - it must be very difficult for both of them, and my heart goes out to them. But headlines like this really bother me -- saying "Rene can't hear anymore" -- that's just not true, and it's what I'd expect of the National Enquirer, not the Journal de Montreal.

The only thing in this article that was not quoted from Paris Match says that it was a speechless-deaf Rene who attended the ABC interview.

 

It does seem like a tabloid and sensationalized title, but I did wonder what state he was in when we saw him.

I don't get why Le Journal de Montreal amongst other sources are freaking out about Rene not being able to talk nor hear. Celine already mentioned that in the GMA show lol. They're acting like they are the first ones to find out and announce that.

 

Rene can hear...he just has a hearing aid in(you can see in his recent poker photos), but it's very hard for him to hear. You can tell that he is able to hear because in the photo that Team Celine posted of Rene and Aldo watching Celine's interview, Rene had headphones on. Obviously he can't hear well, but he CAN, in fact, hear. Also, in the interview...he was listening in on Celine and the interview lady when they were on the stage...just not obviously talking.

 

He can also talk just a little bit...but he probably can't make out any words as his voice is very faint. In the GMA interview, when they are out on the stage...Celine says something in French and Rene makes a little chuckle but it was very, very faint.
