Love this whole show!! I remember when it first aired, back in '97. I'd become obsessed with Celine's music over the past few months, but when I saw this show, I started to fall in love with Celine the person. One of my favorites!

Sonia Benezra is the best she has sang this song live in its usual key. Honorable mentions would be the Juno Awards performance, Jackson Family Honors, and her first appearance on the Tonight Show.

The performance on Top Of The Pops, though an additional key lower than usual (-2) was the most spot on performance of all.

Also, the President's Gala isthe only time she sang this song with the main studio track (rather than having a band), and it is the only time she didn't end the song after the sustained D5.

It's also hard not to enjoy the David Foster performance in Japan. It is the only time she completely sang the full second verse. The first half of the song sounded as good or better than usual, but the last half was quite a let down in more than a few spots.

Oh, and the absolute #1 best would be her rehearsal on the Juno Awards. Though we don't have a full video, the last half of the song we have was substantially better than any other performance.

Thanks a million for your post.

I'm always listening to the Japan one purely for the second verse lol ❤

I love the President's gala!! But TPOL on The Tonight Show wasn't Celine's first appearance on the show. The Tonight Show was her first U.S. appearance ever in 1990.

No, you misunderstood me. She sang the song on the tonight show two separate times. Once in November of 1993 while wearing white, and once in 1994 in black and red (she also sang misled that night). I was referring to the first performance. I know well enough that she sang like 8 times in 1992 on the tonight show and 4 in 90-91

I love her performance of The Power of love in Au Coeur Du Stade It Is AMAZING!! Though I love the one in 1994 in Japan for the reason that she sings the song entirely and love her hair

Reviving some old threads. The performance many believed to be Junos rehersal is actually AMAs rehersal, and it’s easily the best! Does anyone have the full thing btw? Second best is TOTP 1994. Interesting that anytime this song was a full tone lower the studio instrumental was used.

I personally think this is one of the best. The note at 1:39…ugh!!!!!

I can watch it over and over again.

That one is decent, however, that particular video is pitched up. The original performance was sung in the usual, live key, and is quite good, except for that last note. Interesting she struggled with this song so much, as D5 was usually very comfortable for her.
