Celine 'On ne change pas' part of soundtrack of critically acclaimed movie 'Mommy' from Xavier Dolan

'Mommy' is the movie chosen to represent Canada at the next Oscars. I'm actually surprised there is no topic about this since it's gotta be one of the most powerful scene I have seen in my life. On ne change pas gets fully played during one of the scene. the music itself becomes a character.

As a Quebecois, seeing this really touched me. I didn't even know Celine was part of the soundtrack when I went to see it. As the song played , I couldn't believe he let it play entirely as the characters sings to it and feel a strong connection for the first time. Magical

i'll go see this, i love Xavier dolan  I've seen the clip with the song, this is so great. It was quite surprising that he 've put a Celine's song, since he is very liked by all the cultural intelligentsia, but it was a kinf of F.. y... He does whatever he wants, and he is full ,of emotion , like Celine in a way but differently.

In his previous movie called Laurence Anyways, Xavier Dolan also used Céline's song Pour que tu m'aimes encore... (not the full song though).

His new movie "Mommy" was awarded the Jury Prize at this year's Cannes Film Festival. Very promising movie!!

This guy is only 25 and he loves Céline. He was asked on L'été indien show why he used On ne change pas, and he said he always loved that song. And he added that Céline's songs with JJ Goldman were the best... ;)

He was asked by Michel Drucker on the show if he had met Céline before... he said NO. Michel said well all you have to do is ask Julie! :D

DionFanAlways... his movies are more dramas but with a twist - although I haven't seen all of them yet. I think he's got 4 out already.

His first one, called "J'ai tué ma mère" (I Killed My Mother) won 2 awards in Cannes in the Junior category... Not a bad start! He's seen as a little genius in the movie industry. :D

he loves mothers, that's what he said this week-end...he says that you can do quantities of movies on mothers without repeating yourself. He has a good understanding of women and their psychology, watching his mother and others, this is what inspires him.

The only time I like subtitles is when Celine's in french. She uses slang, and speaks in rapid fire french, so that makes it so confusing at times, even though I am in French III.

I didn't know love until they loved me back to life because somebody loves somebody!

I find it funny when I see americans saying they don't like subtitles. It's something so natural for all of us who don't speak English as a first language. :giggle:

when it's a movie with good actors, you lose so much with a traduction. I don't care to watch Transformers in french for example, but movies like To die for with Nicole Kidman, or There will be blood with Daniel Day lewis and many others would not be the same in french..and the same could be said for that movie.
Plus qu'ailleurs , but now Si c'était à refaire , i still love tant de temps....

Subtitles or not I just wish she would get a chance to get a part where she doesn't play herself! :) Subs are great, it sure makes it easier to comprehend!

Since Xavier Dolan loves her, maybe he will do something one day with her

I just find them distracting most of the time because I'm spending so much time reading the bottom of the screen rather than watching what's actually going on in the movie.

Wow! I don't know much about this filmmaker but how awesome!! I'm also not one to go for sub-titled movies but I may have to check this out.
