I thought the "reads to his father" was more like he is like Rene (based on the following sentence about Eddy). It's wonderful Nelson doesn't fully understand what his dad's struggle was, and cute that he reads to Rene. It is a little sad Eddy needs to be reassured (but that sounds like his personality generally, based on her saying he is like RC was). Both twins are adorable though!
