Celine on "Closer Weekly" Magazine, July 21, 2014

Thanks, Mattie! (who brought this to our attention in the News Thread).

 

US Magazine, Closer Weekly has a story about Celine and Rene in the July 21, 2014 edition.

 

There is basically no new information.

 

The sources are "family insiders" and "family friends," so take the following with a grain of salt:

• The surgery took a lot out of Rene. He stepped aside to ensure "that Celine's career won't be thrown into disarray if he suddenly passes or is incapacitated." Then they just used her quote from the press release they gave months ago when this was first announced, i.e. that she wants him to focus on getting back to 100%.
  
• She is "doing her best not worry until doctors give her a reason to worry."
  
• "Rene needs more rest, has to watch what he eats, and of course, doctors are monitoring him closely."
  
• She offered to cut back on her workload again (meaning as she did during his last battle with cancer, as his previous battle is also discussed in the article). "But, he's [meaning Rene's] always encouraged Celine to block out any personal problems and just give her best performance."
  
• She is taking time off this summer, and they will be spending time in Canada.
  
• Doctors are taking "a wait and see" attitude (My note (so not from the magazine): this is normal for someone recovering from cancer. You have to wait so many months between check-ups, and each check-up you go in to make sure everything is okay. So, the magazine makes "wait and see" sound negative, when really it's normal and if anything a positive.
  
• She is "doing her best to be a loving hands-on mother," and they are trying to stay strong for the kids. The kids have been a great distraction for her during this time. The kids are even helping lift Rene's spirits as he finds himself spending more time at home. Rene spoils the kids rotten and they're loving having Daddy around." "It will only wind up bringing the whole family closer together,"
  

So, this is basically just a tabloid. But, it could be worse coverage. I guess if you believe it, it's "new" information in that if they are at the "wait and see" stage, then it is a positive. If he wasn't at the "wait and see" stage, then they would have to be considering treatment or he would be undergoing treatment. That isn't happening. So, thankfully, it seems like the surgery and treatments were successful (which is what they said all along). And, if it is true, it's nice he is able to spend more time with the kids.

 

The story is 1 page. The next page has old photos of them and old quotes, not related to what is going on right now (but, just quotes about each other).

 

 

It's a cheap purchase, and I do not want this post to discourage anyone from buying it. So, of course, I recommend everyone buy it themselves. But, do not expect an interview. It's just "family friends" and "family insiders" (though one must ask what kind of family friend gives quotes about someone's cancer recovery when the couple involved and impacted have stated they do not want to discuss it further at this time...).

I just bought it for a few other stories too not bad but only 1 page like listed.
