DionFanAlways Posted July 23, 2014 at 02:35 AM Posted July 23, 2014 at 02:35 AM (edited) Where was Michel?? That went on for a LONG time! Poor Celine!I don't know where he was but I feel so bad for her. It did go on forever! I think she was like, 'oh sh**' It would have been nice to hear on tour though. Just her expression at the end of the song makes me want to give her a hug and say it's ok! I always wonder what would of happened if it would have been in a different country, like the UK or the States. I also wonder what the band thinks when something like this happens? woodstock Posted July 23, 2014 at 11:22 AM Posted July 23, 2014 at 11:22 AM (edited) I also wonder what the band thinks when something like this happens? You know, when you play on stage you focus on your part, and the vocalist, event if it is the lead vocalist and a big star like Celine, is just a part like any other ! Well, she sang an edited version of the song sooooooooo such a long time in Las Vegas that the second verse kinda erased from her mind ! What I wonder is what it was like when they rehearsed the song ! Edited July 23, 2014 at 11:28 AM by woodstock 1 Quote
Popular Post Dionism Posted July 23, 2014 at 01:27 PM Popular Post Posted July 23, 2014 at 01:27 PM (edited) I know Celine doesn't like to listen to her own recordings for fun, I can totally understand that. But I think it would be a good idea to do it anyway, not for recreation or relaxation, but as a work assignment. It seems that Celine is a little bit out of touch with her own repertoire, not with some particular songs (that she sings regularly), but with her repertoire as a whole. I think there are a lot of songs kind of forgotten, which may serve as good performance material, but also the songs that she did sing regularly in the past are too far away in her mind. When she does decide to sing them, as she did here with the uptempo version, she easily forgets the lyrics and the arrangements of the songs. It is just a sign that she is not familiar enough with her own repertoire. She doesn't really feel that she owns them, that she has made them her own and that she breaths them when she sings them. So i think it would not be a bad idea if she listens to all her recordings from the very first beginning to her last album from time to time, not just to get more familiar again with her own repertoire, but also to get more in touch with that part of her that she seems to forget or even play down a little bit, the part that is interconnected with her career as a singer. Because she may like it or not, it is a fundamental part of her, yes being a mother and wife is far more important, and yes, singing is fun, but her music is also a fundamental part of her. To pay too little attention to it, is not looking enough at a part of yourself. Judging from her mini tour in 2013 I think though that she might be doing this now more than before with the songs that she performed again since a long time, but I doubt she really sits down and listens to the other songs that she sang long ago or never sung live. They might touch her and make her proud of the soul she put into them. It might be a sort of healing experience for her to get closer to hidden parts of herself. She can learn a lot from her younger self. Growing up and being more experienced does not mean you are better now in every way and that there is nothing to learn from your younger self. She'd find that her music is filled with memories and emotions from the past. Getting in touch with your inner self is what good music ultimately is for, isn't it? By the way, I remember that she once said in an interview that she couldn't listen to her 80's recordings because it hurts too much and she couldn't explain why. That says something, doesn't it? Reason enough to especially listen to her older recordings and get in touch with those feelings instead of running away from them. Edited July 23, 2014 at 01:29 PM by Dionism 11 Quote

Leah-M_ILoveCeline5 Posted August 5, 2014 at 04:13 AM Posted August 5, 2014 at 04:13 AM It's so amazing that you've followed her for all these years! I wonder how many fans on here knew of her in the 80s . . . I think that performance was the same day as the Greatest Love of All performance from 1987 that they showed on the Whitney Houston tribute. At least, she's wearing the same dress in both performances: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWwbCMIzYqoI was just about to post this hahaha I love this performance Quote You are my hero Céline <3 I love so much and thank you for everything <3 <3 <3
Derek F. Posted August 30, 2014 at 06:01 PM Posted August 30, 2014 at 06:01 PM Here's my TOP 5- #1. God bless America, from the America: A Tribute to Heroes multi network and radio telethon on September 21st, 2001. I have been a huge fan of Celine for more then 20 years now and this is my favorite performance of Celine! I also believe this is by far the proudest I've ever been of Celine! Only 10 days after the awful terrorist attacks of September 11th, Celine went to New York City and gave the most amazing, emotional, raw, moving and powerful performance of the telethon! She was also the closing solo artist of the telethon, another honor, showing how much respect the organizers had for Celine! I think this, along with Alan Jackson's "Where where you when the world stop turning?" are the 2 definitive performances relating to the 9/11 attacks. This will always be my favorite live performance of Celine!!! #2. The Power of the Dream, from the 1996 Atlanta, USA Olympics Celine, live, representing the athletes and their hope of representing their countries around the world, in front of an estimated 4 billion people-a record # that I think still stands! Celine gave an incredible performance with AWESOME vocals! Definitely one of the best live performances ever!#3. My Heart Will Go On, from the Academy Awards, March 1998. At the peak of Titanic's success, Celine performed a iconic, legendary, stunning live performance of "My Heart Will Go On" Everything was awesome about the performance- the vocals, the dress, the "heart of the ocean" necklace, and orchestra and even the fog. Even better, the song won the Oscar as well!#4. All By Myself, from Jay Leno, 1997 I just discovered this performance, and I can't stop watching it! Completely live, Celine gives chills! She performed this so well, it blows me away! She hits the big note and holds it and it's one of the greatest performances I've seen Celine ever give! #5. Can't help falling in love, from the 1994 Colour of my love TV special I'm in awe of Celine when I watch this!!! She gives I think her best live vocal I've ever heard in this performance! Other then Elvis, after Celine covered this, no one else besides Elvis and Celine (The King and Queen of music) should perform this. I'll always think this performance is timeless and vocally an A+ that deserves more attention! God bless Celine! She has given so many great live performances in her career and I'm sure she'll give us a lot more! 1 Quote
woodstock Posted August 30, 2014 at 06:14 PM Posted August 30, 2014 at 06:14 PM Is there a video of "The Power of the Dream" performed live at the opening ceremony of the Olympics ? I've always only seen dubbed versions so far 1 Quote
CelineDionForeverNY Posted August 30, 2014 at 06:24 PM Posted August 30, 2014 at 06:24 PM Is there a video of "The Power of the Dream" performed live at the opening ceremony of the Olympics ? I've always only seen dubbed versions so far There is no "live" one. The majority of the song was lipped, but her microphone was later turned on halfway through the song, which is why there is an echo effect during the bridge and the adlib after the last chorus. 2 Quote http://i.imgur.com/dQ1vYVz.jpgMais qui peut dire, qu’il peut vivre sans amour, qui?
woodstock Posted August 31, 2014 at 08:28 AM Posted August 31, 2014 at 08:28 AM I see ! I thought that had been dubbed for the TV but that wasn't live at all...I remember Celine singing this song the first time I saw her on stage, in late 1996, that brings me back so many memories thinking to this song ! Caledor Posted August 31, 2014 at 11:43 AM Posted August 31, 2014 at 11:43 AM I love her version of "Can't help falling in love" at the Divas Las Vegas 2002.Love her dress too^^ 1 Quote 29.11.2013 Paris Bercy: Sans attendre... the wait is over !
sfbaysinger Posted August 31, 2014 at 05:36 PM Posted August 31, 2014 at 05:36 PM There have been some good performance of Can't Help Falling In Love during American Idol and The Voice, but none that compare to Elvis and Celine. I loved when they sang "together" at American Idol, and when she and Sinatra "sang" "All The Way." I would agree, God Bless American and Where were you, were the two most stand-out, even to this day, of 9/11 performances. And saldly, the anniversary of that day is coming soon. Anyway, I am amazed and indeed what a place of honor, to have her been the last soloist of the night. Wow! Too bad people don't know that she still deserves that place today. Anyway, I also hope she will continue to give us so many more. 1 Quote L'immensite de mon amour pour Celine! L'amour existe encore pour elle!
Neddo Posted September 1, 2014 at 02:36 PM Posted September 1, 2014 at 02:36 PM L'amour existe encore is the performance about 9/11 (and in general every war in this world) 1 Quote http://imageshack.us/a/img138/7804/5tq2.png
sfbaysinger Posted September 1, 2014 at 03:54 PM Posted September 1, 2014 at 03:54 PM Wow I never thought of it that way but you could not be more right. I gather that it is mainly about a couple, as most often it is, but I will never look at that song the same after your insight, Netto. What a refreshing breath of fresh air after all that's gone down lately. Thank you, and again, so so true! That really moved me. I have a few favorite performances of that, in no particular order, 1 L'Olympia. I list it first because it was the first one I heard. 2 TC tour, Montreal, August 15, 2008. Amazing. 3 Une Seule Fois, OMG soooooooo good!! So powerful vocally especially in the high notes. Oi, loved it so much!!!!! 1 Quote L'immensite de mon amour pour Celine!
