How has Celine helped you?

So I was with a friend this past weekend who is newly in to Lady Gaga. Now I'm not a fan, so no offense to any Little Monsters we have here. Although, as a side note, I would love to know how people are able to be fans of two incredibly different artists. anyway, my friend got on Lady Gaga's forum and I heard a few of the posts people there were making. Some said things like, "she helped me through bullying." Another said, "she helped me become a strong, empowered young woman." So, this got me thinking, how has Celine helped us? What life circumstances has she helped us endure? My sense is that a lot of her fans come from broken/difficult homes/childhoods and she helps us learn to love, at the very least, ourselves.

<3 So, Celineacs, let's hear it. I personally can say she has helped me through losing the rest of my sight 2 years ago. Sound is now all I have and she is "simply the best" as Tina said!

As I said in that topic I was a virtual jazz/blues snob.

Celine helped because, through her, I saw a whole new musical world and I reiterate what I said before - I have been in love with this lady since I first heard her.

On personal note- how is your music coming along?

Well, with me it's that over the years she's always been there. Friends have left me, even my best ones. But she's always been there if that makes sense. I've always been able to hear her songs, and it's helped me through. Songs like "Fade Away" help me when I'm goog through something hard or a friend helps me. She's very inspirational to some course as well. Rene's had surgery, and she keeps going full strength. Sets an example!

I must say that her voice feels like home to me. It doens't matter where I am or what's happening in my life, her voice soothes me.

You know how we associate a smell to something that happened in our lives or someone we love. Her voice is like that for me. Celine will always bring me to that special timeless place - home - no matter what.

Does that make any sense?

But more seriously. In my case, apart from hundreds of hours of listening of her extremely good voice, thanks to Celine I understood what is in the life most important. And she reminds me about this always when I listen as she sings.

That makes a lot of sense. She's one of the few artists that I can tolerate- that's even near pop. She makes real music. But yes, her voice is just amazing.

I am so happy that people responded to my topic. For a long time, no one did. Everything you guys have said makes so much sense to me, even if it was more funny than serious.

Um, yes there was someone I did have contact with through another topic. My music is, well, I haven't sung in 2 years because I went totally blind.

No one wants to listen to a blind woman sing. Now, before anyone goes and points out Stevie Wonder and Andrea Boccelli, let me say one thing: they're MEN! You have yet to see a blind woman make it. Beyond that, I just kinda lost my will to sing. I have no reason to. What's the point? My whole life is darkness, period. That's all I have from the moment I wake in it to the moment I go to sleep in it. It's pitch black midnight 24/7 for me. So musically, the only thing I have done recently is write a song. However, to combat all that negativity I just dumped on all of you poor innocent unsuspecting victims, sometimes she is the only thing that feels good to me. The line "you're the light that leads the way" from "Always Be Your Girl" is sometimes very true in my dark world. Sometimes she feels like the only thing I still have, although blindness has, in a way, taken her away from me, too. I will never physically lay my eyes on her ever again, although my really close Celine fan friend never has, but still. Celine could be "right in front of me", LOL and I wouldn't know it. I think if I ever go to her show again, I'm gonna bawl through most of it. :cry:

Additionally, there's a group of fans doing a thank you Rene video, and they're making it very visual and I can't participate. Life sucks when you cannot see, and as a result, to give a long-winded answer to the question, my music has not kept playing. LOL But she has, inside me! My sight won't go on but she will and my love for her.

I don't like talking about it much but Celine helped me live with an abusive father. I don't know what it is but her voice always makes me happy! Additionally, Celine has inspired me to learn French. When I was in seventh grade I decided to take French and next year I'll be a French 5 student. Last summer I went to Quebec for Une Seule Fois and it was the coolest experience ever! In fact, I want to go to college in Quebec.

Well, Céline always has a song that spots perfectly what you're going through. As far as I can remember she helped me stand up. When I was dumped for the first time, I listened to "all by myself", when my BF died, people asked me to play a personal rendition of "cherche encore" during the funerals, and when my mom went away back in january, the first thing I did was put on "goodbye's". But she was also there during the good times, "a new day has come" came at a time when I found love for the very first time, IDAN remix reminds me of my first clubbing experiences when I was home, getting ready to go out with some music to get me in the mood! And of course there's the woman as her whole . That strong, confident artist that could climb a mountain -who helped me take chances in my life- and the humanist, generous lady -that helps me remain as family-related and simple-valued as I can.

For me,

I don't know how to describe it.When I was younger, I was picked on alot, sometimes bullied, I listened to her and it was calming and relaxing, like i felt safe. In college and in my daily life today, I still listen to her whenever my life around me gets so hectic and I feel like I can't breath or take a step back. All this weight just drops for a little while, I just get so relaxed and calm. Its funny because i noticed vary recently that AFTER listening to celine, I stay calm for a few days, quite , relaxed, eased.. My friends noticed and always ask me whats wrong.

an idea popped into my head: we should do those one of those silent post card videos thanking celine, combining several people on this forum into one great thank you video to celine.

When i was in highachool, or in my in my early collage days (before i dropped out) I was really into Celine. Her music and being a fan was my escape from the bullies, people who hated me, and the drama that existed in my home. Her voice and music were comforting as well.

I too wanted to learn French because of her. Now I just rather further my Spanish a little more.

Without going into the details of my life and past.... All I can say is she is always my rock... When I'm happy, sad, worried... It's like she brings me back in alignment with myself if that makes sence.... I realised this very early on and it's what I do and it's what makes me ...me...

There is always a perfect song..... The perfect moments....

It's funny cus whilst I have been at uni.... I was sure my freinds got tired of listening to her.... But I was wrong.... Yes sometimes I played too much but they say now that they made great memories... It's like when we did big things.... We can remember the song that goes with it and my freinds love to hear her on the radio... They like knowing her songs and knowing all about them too.... And in away that's special.

Two of my best freinds got back together after I drove them around listing to Celine playing Cupid is easy with a stack load of celine dion albums

I don't know.... There is just something so special about celine that will never leave me

How cute, our own little match maker. Adorable. I bet it would be easy to get people back together with that kind of help. As for another poster's words, Spanish is quite a necessity in the US. Hope you are still somewhat in to her. Jessyka, maybe we should learn together. I don't know how it would look, but I've thought about getting a "learn French" topic/program going on the forum where people from Quebec/France or those who have studied it help those of us who want to learn it. @Kevin, silent videos won't get you any popularity with blind people, and the song "thank you" was already used by a FB group during their "happy 46th birthday" vid earlier this year. But love the idea, it might just need to be tweaked a bit.

I still find it amazing how much of an impact Celine's music has on us. It certainly has gotten me through some hard times, and as you said, it lit your world of darkness. Beautiful story.

As a teenager I was bullied for being short, getting good grades, and not belonging to the group of "popular" girls. Whenever I was alone, Celine's songs relaxed me and cheered me up through its lyrics, music, Celine's voice, and most importantly, her own life story. I felt devoid of any worries or burdens. I thought about how beautiful love and joy had made Celine's life, and some of my antagonism would fade away. She helped me believe in myself.

Celine also motivated me to learn French. Learning English opened up a whole new world for her, and I hoped French would do the same for me in the future - on a far less drastic scale.

Celine has helped me through so so much. I've grown up listening to Celine's music and her voice has always soothed me since. My mum would play Celine's music almost everyday, so I was well educated from a young age! If I'm feeling stressed her voice lifts me up and comforts me. When I'm happy she makes me even happier. Her personality has motivated me as well. She's such a humble, genuine, generous and loving woman. She is literally part of my life.

No matter what I'm going through Celine's voice just makes me feel at peace

It's the same with me! You can't be mad when listening to Celine. I saw a photo once that said "Sometimes only music makes sense." That can be true with her music, especially, sometimes!

I've been thinking about learning french, studied it when I was younger but I can hardly remember anything! It's so funny because everytime I hear someone speaking french I instantly think of Celine and can't help but smile!
