I'm at a loss for words about this article. How anybody can call Céline a "bigot" is mind-blowing to me. Not to bring a Lady GaGa song title into this, but all I can say is #SPEECHLESS!

Have you read this? Jeez!

Or that her new album, Loved Me Back to Life, will be followed by Sending You Back Where You Came From.

jeez that article is from what a year ago?! took him long to discover... someone should attend them to the part of TTEOTW where Celine says, she doesn't want revealing costumes in the middle east, because of the culture...

:wtf: Oh the "follow the rules of the country you are trying to live" in debate again................. Well I agree with her on her stance! One should not expect the country you are trying to reside in to adapt to your customs, you should adapt to its customs! Follow your customs and beliefs at home and with your family so you don't loose touch with your beliefs, simple! Don't force it on the majority. Edited by DionFanAlways

Has Celine actually said this? I think that this is fake. Everyone would talk here about it. It's funny how we fans didn't even hear about this interview. Way too fake. If you watch Celine is awesome you will see a woman in hijab telling that Celine is special unlike her exceptations about other western women

I actually do remember this from last fall. I don't know if I saw it here or I got an email (I have a google alert set up for her name) with a link to the original article where she said it. It is quite a controversial statement - as she says she will please some people by saying it and offend others.

An article talking about the incident is on this forum somewhere. I think it had to do with promotion for LMBTL.

This is the article: http://www.macleans....er-of-values-2/

There is a thread on this forum somewhere that discussed this article quite a bit.

Calling her a bigot is idiotic. Some people will look for any excuse to say something negative. The interview was not offensive. She had an opinion, and she gave it. Her opinion was not bigoted in anyway. In fact, her answer brought the issue beyond religion and discussed gender and cultural issues (did people want her to ask forgiveness to not buying into the hype and actually discussing why people would support the Charter? That's both too bad and nonsensical. The people who were offended by her comments were just looking for a reason to be offended.

and this article was in McCleans, they love to put quebec issues in a negative way whenever they can. La charte des valeurs is dead anyway, They lost the election partly because of it. People in Québec are not more racist than anywhere else. We are just sensitive when the religion is valorized more that women rights, gay rights, etc... Yes Celine said things, but be assured that they put it their way. Who could believe that Celine is racist?

Exactly! This was a good interview btw, she talked about Spector and Whitney!

Celine channel surfing on You-tube (and she says she's not connected!) This girl exaggerates just a smidge!

So she actually had this interview. And it's a smart statement. Celine says that after all the good things country has given you, you should adapt yourself a bit too. She states that hijab isn't good to her in her own country, just that. She isn't islamophobic. Islamophobe is a person who hates muslims and does violence to them. I wonder what opinion do eastern singers have on western style clothes. Her message is: "Leave your religion at your house!" Maybe Celine herself is like that at home. Hijab is actually something that is forced in extremist countries. Let these conspiracy, killuminati creepy sites tell they're opinions, they won't get anywhere. What's sad that most people in this world make phobic comments on internet, phobic jokes in real life yet they practice things which are worse sins. People are actually praising alcohol, sex, sadomachonism and yet they are joking about jews, gays, black people. At least in my stupid country. All of these people are just jealous because they aren't unique. Hijab is hated in west? Look at Gaga she actually made an extremly popular song with hijab

Sorry I'm gonna lock this thread. This topic was already raised in another topic and it led to a lot of negativity all around. If you want to comment and defend what she said, please do so in the comment section of that particular link.

If anyone disagrees with me locking this thread, please PM me with a valid reason as to why I should leave it open. :flowers:
