Vegas LMBTL Album-Inspired Changes

Recommended Posts

So now that LMBTL has finally been released, what changes do we predict/know will bring to the show? I remember reading somewhere that the songs LMBTL, somebody loves somebody, and water and a flame will be added, but what was the source of this? also, if thats the case, where do we think these songs will go into the set list?

i would imagine LMBTL will stay in the rolling in the deep slot like it was at the end of august, but the others? if these are in fact correct, i can't wait to hear the other 2 live with the orchestra! :) especially somebody loves somebody! agh!

any predictions are welcome! if you have factual info, please be sure to name the source!

also it is my wish that they redo/update the pre show i drove all night video...time to add in a little bit of footage or at least tweak a bit...

I think that the songs that are most likely going to be gone are the James Bond songs. They never really had a purpose in the show to start with and are the only Vegas covers that aren't recorded. And I believe it was Rene himself who said that SLS and WAAF are going to be added to the show.

I'd like to see mr Paganini replaced with water and a flame.. And the entire bond medley replaced with love can move mountains and river deep and then is drove all night.. Then keep the holograms and where LCMm and rdmh used to be add loved me back to life and somebody loves somebody and unfinished songs.. Just my opinion

I think that Overjoyed will be replaced with a holographic Neyo duet. I also think that Rolling In The Deep and Love Can Move Mountains will be replaced with Loved Me Back To Life and Somebody Loves Somebody!

I really hope that my prediction will happen. As much as i love and respect Stevie Wonder, That duet just has to go. It's not fresh anymore. Adding a holographic Neyo duet would just bring the show to another level and bring it to life even more. It will also really go over well with the younger audience members.

Neyo would really draw alot of attention to her show and give her an even greater fan base. I know Celine loves Adele, but Rolling In The Deep never really fit into the show to me. It just felt so random.

Love Can Move Mountains is getting really old. I know Celine loves performing it, but even she must be sick of singing it by now. replacing it with Loved Me Back To Life, Somebody Loves Somebody, or even Breakaway would be amazing!

Replacing those songs and adding those new one's would give her show a whole new edge that it's currently missing and it would give her a chance to wear some edgy cool new outfits and maybe she could add in a few dance moves.

I loved the way she performed Loved Me Back To Life on Le Banquier. She really got into it and was feeling the song. I loved the little dace moves she through in. Bringing that attitude to the new songs in the show would be amazing.

I feel like Celine lacks that attitude these days, That special flare she used to bring when singing live. Don't get me wrong, she still gets into her songs, but something has been missing from her performances these past few year. It's like she's holding back on the theatrics.

She used to be so theatrical when performing. I was watching her old Live In Memphis Tour the other day and she looked so much more happier to be onstage and really in the moment. I miss that Celine. I wish she would bring her theatrical side back a little bit when performing.

Hopefully she keeps those moves from Le Banquier and performs her new songs with that same attitude in Vegas!

I agree that the James Bond Medley is the most likely to go. Overjoyed will most assuredly stay in the show since it's on the album. They could go straight from The Reason into the costume change for How Do You Keep The Music Playing. Then do the show as normal and add Somebody Loves Somebody and Water and a Flame (which should sound amazing with the orchestra!) after Loved Me Back To Life.

Honestly, I would like to see Unfinished Songs replace River Deep and Love Can Move Mountains but I doubt it will happen. It was Graham Norton who pointed out to her that US would make a great show closer, right? And she seemed to really like that idea. So you never know......

Well I"m going to say, they need to change the begin of the show to start with, SOMETHING NEW other then DVD of the tour which was 6 yrs ago, getting VERY OLD

i too could see the james bond medley being axed, but that whole scene is very "vegas-y" if you know what i mean...and i think Céline loves performing it. to be honest, i don't by any means think those are the best songs in the show, but i do selfishly love that segment. i just think the three songs are great and even though they were basic and covers i enjoyed celine's voice on all 3...especially nobody does it better! theres a studio cover song i wish i she would've added as a bonus track somewhere!

i agree somebody loves somebody and WAAF would sound spectacular with the orchestra! i have a feeling the stevie wonder duet will stay...although a ne-yo incredible duet would be very fresh and cool, i have a feeling they'll just leave stevie...especially now that overjoyed is on an album. and lets face it, for the majority of the demographic going to celines show, stevie wonder fits more than ne-yo and is much more widely known. not saying the song or anything is necessarily better, but guaranteed if they replaced Ojoyed with incredible a lot of the older audience would say "huh?" lol.

Guys, yall know they won't axe Overjoyed , It's on the album....... Same goes with At 17. I love Mr. Paganini  and would hate to see it go but if it means freshening up things then I'm for it! I can see Bond being gone also. Nobody Does It Better is wonderful though. I just want her to act like she wants to be there. When I went it was like she dreaded being there. Edited by DionFanAlways
I have had the time of my life following this woman! Much love.

The last time I saw the show, she seemed to have the most fun during the James Bond part (playing with the band and even coming over to the side of the stage before her costume change), and it made it one of the best parts of the show. I think she put it in mostly for her oldest son, so I doubt she would take it out so quickly. But, there are a lot of James Bond songs to use--so she could even keep the James Bond portion and just switch out the theme songs (unlikely given licensing issues, but maybe maybe possible?). I agree though, I liked Nobody Does it Better, and Live or Let Die.

I think the Ne-Yo hologram would be cool, but I agree with you there too. I just doubt they would do that for her show.

Maybe she will get to open with My Heart Will Go On, like she wanted to in the first place, and end with Thank You or something else from the new album. That being said, if she keeps My Heart Will Go On at the end, it would be so cool to see her perform it like she did in New York this year.

The new songs being added are: Loved Me Back to Life, Somebody Loves Somebody, and Water and Flame (according to the message board on her official website, but I am not sure if that is the place to go for the most up to date/accurate information about her show). I think the new songs will start in January, but it might be summer until the show is changed in a bigger way (because if they are working on it now, it would give her the two months of April and May to work on changes to the show before implementing the changes before the summer).

She already replaced Rolling in the Deep with Loved me Back to Life, so it's just waiting to see the addition of the other two, and if the show has any other changes.

I think the three songs would go perfectly where the James Bond medley is right now.....outfit and all. Plus WAAF is similar to those sound wise. However, she does seem to really enjoy those numbers so much! Perhaps they'll keep Goldfinger and go into the other three? (especially since RC is Bond lol) If she keeps that as-is, I'd say she'd probably put those 3 towards the end.....maybe replace RDMH & LCMM? I guess we'll see. I doubt they'd just add it in and keep everything else if they're still trying to keep to the same time-schedule. Edit: I do think the three will be performed together. Seems to make the most sense and they go together. Edited by ehild

^^^^Although, I don't know how long a 13 year old RC would like to see his 10 y/o character on stage night after night. Maybe they will retire all of those all together. Edited by ehild

Well The Red Heads posted a photo that the marquee has changed in Vegas to the LMBTL album cover with CELINE in the same font as the LMBTL cover. Definitely paints the picture of an edgier show. That said, I could see a lot of changes happening, from costumes to song choices.

Well I absolutely hope that this new album will find its way into the show.

'Loved Me Back To Life' is currently the only song from the album that has made it to the show, but I'm pretty sure 'Somebody Loves Somebody' and 'Water and a Flame' will make it, as Rene himself confirmed a few months ago.

From my point of view, these would be te ideal changes:

• 'Somebody Loves Somebody' and 'Water and a Flame' right after 'Loved Me Back To Life'. To compensate, the LCMM/RDMH medley would be gone.

• As someone mentioned earlier, a hologram of Ne-Yo to join Celine on 'Incredible' would take the show to a new dimension; also replacing 'Overjoyed'.

• Eventhough 'Lullabye' is part of the album, I totally think it should be replaced by 'Always Be Your Girl', since it mainly touches the same topics as the Billy Joel Song and it would be breathtaking to see her sing this one with Mego on piano every night, with just a light over her, like 'Ne Me Quitte Pas'.

I think it's tough when looking at incredible and overjoyed. I've never been a fan of the song overjoyed but now that it is on the album I feel like it has a place in the show. On the other hand, I'd much like to see incredible in the show but I think three holograms in a row is a bit overkill so I don't see all three being in the show.

I completely agree with always be your girl replacing lullaby, and adding somebody loves somebody and water and a flame.

Lcmm - I hate to say it, but it should stay. It's been a celine staple since 1992. It's the only song that has been performed in every tour (aside from the ones before it obviously) and though it isn't always pretty, I like having it in the show and seeing the evolution of the song. She's gotten better with it than her first Vegas run and TCWT. Rdmh - that can be replaced. The song is vocally okay in certain points, but the feeling of the song that she once presented is now gone and it's rather robotic. The way she says "here we go" after every verse almost has me convinced she thinks that's the way the lyric reads.

Drop the bond medley.

Add didn't know love, and either a new French song, or maybe an older one or a medley. Perhaps something acoustic or different.

These changes would give us quite a few new songs in the show as well as take out some of the ones that have ran their course...

I predict "Water And A Flame" has the best chance of being added to "Celine" over the other songs off "Loved Me Back To Life." That's it. While "Somebody Loves Somebody" is my favorite track from her new album, it runs the risk of not being "Celine" enough for her core demographic. I don't think we'll be seeing "Loved Me Back To Life," "Overjoyed," "At Seventeen," "How Do You Keep The Music Playing" or "Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel)" going away anytime soon. As all are on "Loved Me Back To Life," they help represent a substantial portion of the album. Unfortunately, by adding more songs from "Loved Me Back To Life" ("Somebody Loves Somebody," "Breakaway," "Unfinished Songs," etc.), the show runs the risk of looking too much like a "Loved Me Back To Life" tour and not a Celine concert that the normal Vegas tourist is looking for when buying tickets to her show. I hope I'm wrong, though (save "Loved Me Back To Life," I want that to stay).

If more material from the new album IS to make its way into "Celine," I could see these two changes being made to accommodate the evolution of the show:

  • "Water And A Flame" replaces "The Reason"
  • "Somebody Loves Somebody" replaces Bond medley and Barnev's version of "Spinning Wheel."

I would like to see the addition of one or two songs from Sans Attendre instead of Ne Me Quitte Pas, agree that the bond medley should go and be replaced with SLS and water and a flame.

We know LMBTL will be in the show. I know Rene said they would also add WAAF and SLS. Personally, I'd love to see a NeYo hologram duet with Incredible. In keeping with her core demographic, I'd also love to see Thankful added. I think it could work really well and it's still fresh enough for younger crowds.

As far as song placement goes, as much I really like the Bond medley I could see that getting the ax (despite the fact it livens up the show a bit). I love Mr. Paganini!! I don't want to see that replaced but I could see them putting WAAF there. I'm not really sure where they'll put the new songs. I know right now they just swapped out RITD for LMBTL because I think it was the easiest transition for the moment. It would be an easier transition to go into all of the new songs in one spot of the show ("I'd like to perform some songs from my new album, if I may...." and similar to her Pandora concert) but I also like the idea of spreading them out throughout the show to keep the entire show feeling fresh rather than just one segment of the show and then she's back to her hits.

Edit: I'd also love to see a new French song added. I'd love one from D'elles or SA. There's a few on each album that I think would work great for the show and would help keep it feeling fresh, since I'm going with that theme today. B)

GUYS! I recently had the honor of interviewing Dana Parish, one of the writers of the songs Thankful and Always Be Your Girl, for my blog! You can read the spanish version of the interview here:

http://celinedionspa...ana-parish.html

Here's the English version of the interview (I though of posting this here as it has some really interesting information about possible new additions to the setlist of Celine's Vegas show):

Hi Carlos,

Thank you for your interest in my songs for Celine. I truly appreciate all of your generous support and that of Celine's fans from all over the world!

1. What was it like to work with Celine Dion in the studio? I was not in the studio with her as she cut our songs in Las Vegas withproducers (Babyface and Walter Afanasieff forABYG and Eman for Thankful) and I live in NYC.

2. Can you tell us a bit about the recording sessions for Thankful and Always Be Your Girl? please see above

3. The song Thankful takes Celine's album to a whole new dimension with that amazing gospel choir. How did the idea of adding such a choir come about? Right before the mix, Celine had the idea to add the gospel choir and Sony made it happen very quickly. I was impressed! The choir was recorded atlegendary Capitol Studios in LA. Andrew (myhusband and cowriter) and I were thrilled when we heard it. Took the song to a whole new level.

4. Thankful has become a favorite for Celine's fans and we'd like to know if she expressed her desire to sing this song live on stage at some point. Thank you. Yes, she did tell me she plans to put our songs in the show.

5. We know that Always Be Your Girl was the first original song that Celine recorded for her new album, but when did she record it? Two whole years ago!

6. What about Thankful? Could you tell us when did Celine bring this magical track to life in the recording studio? She recorded this later in the process but we knew she'd be recording it for over a year before it happened. We love what she did with oursongs, the sensitivity and artistry that she brought, and are thrilled to have received so many nice letters from her fans about them.

7. Were the recording sessions for these two songs filmed? I don't think so.

8. And finally, is there anything you'd like to tell us about your latest album 'Uncrushed'? Thank you for asking. I can tell you that myalbum "Uncrushed" is very close to my heart; it's an honest and authentic expression of who I am and those songs were borne from the same personal space I was in when writing for Celine.

It's vital to me to tell the truth and be real as possible in order to connect with listeners and express things that I hope will resonate with them and make them feel understood. To me, this is the purpose for doing what I do, and it's an honor to share my music with you.
