I just came across this on Youtube. I hadn't seen it before. Celine is pretty good at acting. Can anyone tell me the back story on how this mini series came about and how Celine became the lead actress? I hope she will do some more acting in the future!

From what I know it is based on a true story about a woman who had a sad upbringing. She was also raped and abused by her lover and I think also a family member.

 

That's all I can say. Also this movie is hard to watch. I have only watched it twice. The last time I watched it was in 03. Celine was a great actress one who could have been deserving of Academy award if she would have gone for it.

This series is a product of quality, I've watched and the acting is so good (and not only speakin of Celine, who nailed it). The story was worth a home release with english subtitles, but unfortunately, they have never released it on DVD

When Celine got an international success, they or Rene should have known that releasing an English-subtitles version of it could gain a lot of money $$$

Exactly. She could have even dubbed her voice in an english version of the series. After all, didn't they do 2 versions of "The Peanut Butter Solution" movie, with the songs in both french and english versions?

 

It's the same problem that we've been discussing long ago with her 1981-1987 discography: that she's the best selling female artist of all time in terms of albums, and that she has her first recordings completely unavailable in the market still today, after 30 years of career, is just beyond understanding to me. Things like this make me wonder what kind of management she has in Sony Musc

I've watched it twice. It is really good, even though I don't know what all they are saying, it's pretty easy to tell what is going on. Except I'm not quite sure what happened in the alleyway..did she kill him or just beat him up?

Her mother and step father were sentenced to prison in 2009, so that is good!
