divaslive98 Posted November 7, 2013 at 05:43 AM Posted November 7, 2013 at 05:43 AM hahaha she was off tune a couple of times but overall she looked relaxed and enjoying herself, even more than at the Today Show!! Yeah she almost seemed high or something - that was an electric, but at times absurd and pathetic, performance, but also hilarious passionate and deeply impressive. In some parts it was almost as if she was mocking the song, like undersinging it in the way that a 5th grader who doesn't want to be in choir does. But I found that refreshing and quite self-effacing from her to be having fun with the fact that she was having difficulty with the song or couldn't be bothered to make any more of an effort. It was a diva performance similar to other (similarly successful) performances over the years. The remarkable thing is that she manages to keep up and continues to hold herself to this standard that she now seems to be ambiguously skeptical about in her singing. Or is she actually just lazy and gets off at how little she has to sing for the audience to give her a standing ovation? Because I like that; that's a diva approach to singing and it ends up being far more interesting because as divas enter the stage of their career Celine is currently in, they either retreat to their safety zone or inadvertanly expose their vocal flaws as they age. Celine has decided to bypass this equation deconstructing her voice in a way that reminds us of how it was at its peak. In the process, Celine transcends time with these recordings / recent performances, and reveals that she was actually the one pulling the strings since her vocal prowess never had anything to do with promotion or slick production or whatever, it's the way she uses her voice that defines her genius, it is her commitment to an idiosyncratic style that cannot be very well described, but which she intimately understands, that has given her success. Here she unites these two halves of the binary and becomes the ultimate most complete and infinite ever-lasting avatar of the great diva goddess "Celine Dion." 1 Quote

After reading your post, I feel like one of us is high... either you or me My point is it is strange how she takes the song seriously at some points, like super seriously, and then seems to be mocking it at others. I'm talking about the "eh, eh, eh's" here She sang them like she was embarrassed of singing in that style or something, it was weird. Quote

ehild Posted November 7, 2013 at 10:51 PM Posted November 7, 2013 at 10:51 PM I don't get it at all... What was that present? Wood? What is it for? It was just a gag to explain the syrum....or whatever it was he gave her.....that's supposed to help her fight off infections so she doesn't get sick quite so often (and cancel shows ) I still can't believe she tried to eat it.....and then asked if it went in her underwear. A Miley CD but of course I don't have ennemies... I love this interview! Didn't really learn too much new but she was great. And the performance was great! She looked relaxed and like she was just enjoying herself. 4 Quote ~Liz"Please don't make your career your life. Fuzzy Posted November 7, 2013 at 10:58 PM Posted November 7, 2013 at 10:58 PM I just loved everything about that interview. nature boy Posted November 7, 2013 at 11:12 PM Posted November 7, 2013 at 11:12 PM (edited) Apart from the "six years" question, that was a really good interview. Her words regarding show business, and how it's down to the individual were spot on! A very wise women, something we don't get to see very often as she's joking around a lot. Good performance also. beelee Posted November 8, 2013 at 12:18 AM Posted November 8, 2013 at 12:18 AM I enjoyed that interview. The performance was good, but the song choice was horrible. Do they not know Dr. Oz's audience though? It's mainly middle aged women. She should've performed a ballad. Quote

My mom is 50 and some of her favorite music is uptempo/modern pop stuff like Rhianna's "Only Girl In the World" hell my mom really likes the song "S&M" because of the music (she doesn't really understand what the song is actually about). Just because a song is a ballad does not mean it will automatically appeal to middle aged people, they can like and do like all sorts of music too just like everybody else. 10 Quote http://24.media.tumblr.com/5fc8ed1dcd8690c2a8e2cad08629e4ba/tumblr_mrwbegFInv1rothmmo1_500.jpgJanuary 5, 2013 -- Las Vegas August 18, 2013 -- Las Vegas

smw Posted November 10, 2013 at 06:27 AM Posted November 10, 2013 at 06:27 AM (edited) Too bad it didn't do much regarding the sales...But what does it take for the US??? It would take something surprising. She needs to catch people off-guard. Like the NeYo duet on a big show like The Voice. People need to be told it's cool/okay to like Celine and her new album. The recent "Celine watching Celine" video was starting to catch fire. But now it's been taken down!! So ridiculous. She needs to go VIRAL -- but in a way that plays to her strengths. That video was great because it showed her humor AND her untouchable vocal ability that people needed to be reminded of. Everything is falling into place very nicely in the UK. And things have gone fine in the US -- but there still hasn't been that BIG moment. I hope it's yet to come! Edited November 10, 2013 at 06:30 AM by smw 3 Quote
