hey all! i come baring gifts! hehe. i was fortunate enough to attend the show the two nights this week and made sure to get the audio from both to share with all of you lovely people

 

im going to review the shows below first general notes on both and then specific show notes by night, and below are the links to download the audio from the shows. if you want to just download one, the first one (june 18th) stood out more vocally and as a whole. i know someone already reviewed the second night's (the 19th) show, so i apologize for the double there anything that is reiterated but ill put my opinon and thoughts, too

 

OVERALL

celine definitely looked bronzed bombshell and summer edition! haha. someone on instagram the other day was freaking out because celine came into her vegas tanning salon, so clearly she is hitting the tanning beds and/or catching some rays because it shows! her make up is also very complimentary and supportive of this bronzed look, too, (especially her cheeks) and her hair is definitely a little lighter as well. (some light blonde lowlights and looks lighter in contrast to her tan) her hair was styled much more straight than in the show previously and a little more flat and center parted straight down the middle, but i like the look and it's definitely very summery! im sad to say the theater was not full either night...the majority location of any empty seats was rear orchestra. im not saying it was empty (still probably a little over 3/4 full) but definitely every seat was not filled and i hope it was a fluke! they were actually giving seat upgrades to people both nights to move them down into the orchestra to try and fill them - i know because i was one who got asked to move! the first night an usher looked at my ticket and asked if id like to move downstairs to rear orchestra. of course, i obliged and she took my old ticket and sent me down with my new one. the second night i saw multiple ushers doing the same thing! crazy. wonder what's going on...

the show is definitely ready for an update - especially the dialogue. nothing has changed dialogue-wise since the last run except that she says "and for my husband to back in las vegas...during the world series of poker..." in the opening speech. hopefully for the next run of shows we will see some updates with this and hopefully new songs from the new album as well! there were some new riffs performed both nights that i havent heard before during open arms and during live and let die. also some little vocal nuances during ne me quitte pas - not sung quite as straight as before in a few places and notably the beginning. people really love rollin in the deep and celine sounds even better singing it now. also, remember the new glittery falling background to MHWGO? it's gone...both nights its back to the same water on the LED it was before. maybe they didnt like it so reverted back to the old?

 

 

JUNE 18th SHOW

This show was very solid and smooth overall and my favorite of the two nights. celine was very cute and made some funny faces. really not too much unusual to report here though...youll hear the audio and get the gist very small nuances, but there are some small changes musically throughout the show - maybe the musicians were just playing around a bit. but a few different drum beats here and there, guitar, etc.

 

JUNE 19th SHOW

this show had a few other things to report. little lyric flub during the first verse of open arms but she caught it and fixed it fairly smoothly all things considered. (sidenote i hope the studio recording of open arms eventually surfaces for us somewhere...i know its not the most original or exciting song, but it really is beautiful with her singing it) also small lyric flub in BYLM. i dont know if you can really tell in the audio, but this song didnt sound as smooth to me as usual tonight. hard to explain but not quite so fluid. she made a small mistake in the opening speech, too - said "and hes playing all the sports - he loves baseball, basketball, baseball, i mean football..." perhaps her head was distracted on something for the first few minutes of the show haha even though the opening speech is old now, she does enough facials and funny faces with her delivery and there must be enough new audience members each night cuz there are definitely solid laughs in all the expected places. there was a slight moment in mr paginini where the drum rhythm was off from her vocals. during goodnight my angels, when shes sitting on the stool and during the middle of the song where there are no words just humming she made a signal with her hand to somebody...this is now the second time ive seen her do this she did it during NMQP during a show i saw back in march. she "Flashes" her fingers three times...i mean like she opens and closes her fingers quickly like the signal for flash, and then gives a thumbs down. she did this twice quickly back to back in between phrases. it was hard to tell who she was looking at, it almost looked like she was looking in the direction of the backup singers but it must have actually been to someone offstage. her hand was on the upstage side hanging down by the stool so most wouldnt see but i caught it. i wonder what this signal means and what shes saying? hm would love to know! the audience was not as enthusiastic this night, either by the way - minimal standing ovations. and get this...no standing O after ne me quitte pas! first time i have ever seen that. people just sat clapping and maybe i was imagining it but celine seemed like she was waiting for people to still do it and clearly they expect people do as lights come on in the house. at the end of rolling in the deep, her microphone was cut off half a second to early. if you listen carefully when she says "played it to the beat" her word "beat" gets slightly cut off before she is finished saying it. people went bat crazy tonight during the intro to MHWGO...you can hear it if you listen to the audio. was kinda funny but was multiple waves of screaming and cheering i felt more excitement from the audience during this than the entire show lol...

 

some generic misc notes: i dont know if you've ever looked or had the glimpse of them, but the shoes she wears during MHWGO under the blue dress and beautiful! they are golden and sparkly and kind of in a lattice style links. i love them! also remember during AND all the vents at the front of the stage to allow constant humidity onstage? it just hit me that these are covered up now kinda interesting with this new stage. another thing i personally wish i could have a studio version of the james bond songs - specifically nobody does it better. i know its not original but this song is beautiful with her voice and i personally wish i could have a pro version! lets keep the new album all new songs, but maybe an EP or bonus cd with the vegas covers shes already recorded so they dont go to waste?? i hate to say it because i love the two songs and they are pretty, but at seventeen and overjoyed are definitely getting a little dull to watch. sounds great, but maybe not the best anymore visually for a show. especially overjoyed to have stevie's hologram and her just kinda dancing a little in place with no band or anything else to look at. i love this song, but it's definitely not that exciting and where it falls in the show is a lot of slow paced numbers back to back.

Thanks so much for the review, and it's fun to listen to the shows, much appreciated! How weird that she didn't get a standing O for Ne Me Quitte Pas...

 

I also hope that it's just kind of a fluke that the place wasn't completely full. I do hope they give the show a bit of a rehaul.

 

I was thinking, that three fingers sign that she does to somebody offstage... Do you think she's communicating with Michel, and letting him know that her sound is going in and out in her earphone thingy??

I think the main reason she is not selling out anymore is because she has not realeased any new music in english in ages, also there is a lot of competition in Vegas right now, the tickets went on sale later than usual and I don't know if the new ticket system they are using now is affecting them. Sadly, I think the coming weeks might be even worse. Anyway, I'm sure once the new album comes out later this year things will go back to normal.

This is not a good sign at all, in fact there is no promotion for this show and I guess they thaught that the celebrety of Celine was sufficient to fill the theatre, it's a huge mistake.

 

There is another reason in my opinion, it's the crysis and summer is not a good period for Vegas and they knew that it's a challenge to perform during this season.

 

I really hope they are going to find a solution because I guess that she is not going to sing untill 2019 if it's not full each night.

 

I hope it's just a bad but short period.

something must really be weird this is the first time i have ever heard of something like this. and not gonna lie this new AXS ticketing system theyre now using (thanks a lot AEG) is horrendous.

I think Celine fans are too broke to travel to see her again and tourists don't want to spend the money for the good FORCH seats, so they buy the MEZZ ones. Then, there's a ton of FORCH seats open at the last minute since no one is there to spend the money on them.

 

She is worth $250 to me, but not to people just wanting to see a show while in Vegas (not there specifically for Celine). Her team needs to reduce the prices if they want to sell more seats.

ya the price of the front row seats are just ridiculous......Not fair and the AXS system is so dumb, I hate it!!!! you should be able to pick your seat fair and square !! I just cant believe that you cant do this anymore, whats with that??? and seats going for a thousand dollar is just nonsence!!!! I think bad sales are of course because of all those factors mentioned above. Plus unlike AND this show is more a concert, so that might stop people from going to see it, unlike they would a cirque du soleil kinda show...

 

I don't want Céline to look at half empty venues each night, but in this day and age, you can't expect to sell out anymore.

Don't get me wrong...the woman is doing 16 concerts in one month alone.....(June). and another 4 first week of July.

 

That's 80,000 she has to sell--which is A LOT. We have been spoiled with her selling out practically every night.

 

And even though there were discounts this month, she still selling 3/4 of the venue out.

 

The american economy sucks and as one fan mentioned it's too expensive for us to go back. Rod's show has $99 rear Orchestra seats. They may have to look at the last few rows at that price if they want to sell them in low season like this.

 

Also, there is NO promo for this show anymore and it's in it's third year. This new album in the fall along with her promo is going to be at right time as far as I'm concerned.

 

On a side note, I see OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) re-airing 3 Boys and a New Show next sunday. I live in Canada, not sure if the states are getting the rerun too...

It's a shame to hear about the empty seats :-(

But if that means updating the show to bring people back and bring fans back for something different that's good.i really don't think they could possibly run until 2019 with the same show.

They should have taken another year or so break after the 3 years, change the show and relaunch it.

It's clear Celine still sells ....6 nights in Paris sold out, but unfortunately people can't afford to travel to Vegas to see her.

Hopefully the new album and shows outside Vegas will bring fresh ideas for the shows future.
