The Washington Times: Immortality is the third best song by the Bee Gees

It’s the first anniversary of the death of Robin Gibb and John Haydon from The Washington Times celebrates the Bee Gees with a selection of some of their most memorable tunes spanning more than five decades. The song Immortality is the third best song by the Bee Gees. "This spiritual and moving song was written by the Bee Gees for Celine Dion and appeared on her Let's Talk About Love in 1998, with the Bee Gees singing in the background. It was a big hit outside the US, reaching No. 5 in the UK. The best version is the live rendition on the One Night Only album recorded at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas in 1997 with Miss Dion making a special guest appearances," said Haydon.

More than deserved.

 

ahh....long live the days when Celine received such masterpiece songs from a music legends who even respected and admired her.

And today in 2013 we are dealing with WAAF embarrassment.

It's a HUGE hit here in Brazil. If I'm not wrong, it's #1 in the end's year most played songs from 1998.

Great news! Immortality is a song that grew on me through the years. It's time to bring this song back to life and another song from LTAL put to rest :P

Let's Talk About Love was a dream come true of an album... And now we're discussing whether Céline should diss a song from some egocentric aussie. How times have changed! And she's still THE ONE artist everyone would love to sing with... I mean, she could easily collaborate with Adele, Alicia Keys, Michael Bublé, Beyoncé, Pink...

I had read in Wikipedia that this song had become a smash hit in Brazil. It was played in Greece (and Europe) too. However, I doubt it managed to surpass ''My heart will go on'' in the end year charts.

thank you for sharing that - ive long forgotten celines true real voice - how my heart adores it - comparing celines music/albums to back then, her career is a shambles but only in the sense of albums and recordings.

i want the amazing celine dion back the one that took true risks and made an effort to release an album - i want the celine with the hunger back!

A glorious song. I always think of it as a cousin of My Love. You have this song about someone who's going to achieve her dreams even if it means giving up someone she loves... then you have a song that came out ten years later about someone who has made sacrifices and choices with the love for another always at the center, wondering if it was all worth it and what would happen if the roles were reversed... it's like those Choose Your Own Adventure books :giggle: two alternate endings to the same story or something, Idk...

Why this was never released as at least an AC single in the States is beyond me....

Totally agree with you!! It's a shame really because this would have given the non-fans (or haters) a different view of Céline I believe.
