My Heart Will Go On

Which "My Heart Will Go On" Live version if your favorite? Mine has to be "World Childrens Days" performance. Celine's voice was rested after the break and she was well able to take on that song and sound new and fresh. Another performance that comes to mind of the "Gala Night" performance. Yet another fantastic and powerful version with an outstanding high note at the end that Celine managed to hold flawlessely.

Which is your Favorite Live performance of this song?

Mine has to be the one I saw live at Las Vegas when I was there in 2007. What a beautiful intro, scenery, everything. I confess I did cry then.

Televised performance, when she performed it at the 1998 Grammys when Barbra cancelled her performance of "Tell Him" because it was like, take note, as I'll be here picking up awards for this song next year!

Maybe this one because it's the original key. :giggle:

I was never nuts about this performance. I just didn't feel like her voice was right for this song. HOWEVER, this girl is an incredible singer. She had performances on that show where it was like, oh my god, you're only 13 and you sound like this. Her voice is going to be a force of nature in ten years.

Noone comes close to Celine when singing MHWGO. Actually, there is one version I also like which is the Charice with David Foster's version, and I like it because they changed the end. This song is just a mess when sung by anyone else.

Going back to Celine, I personally like the live at UNICEF, because she was singing it for the first time in full and she was really trying to be a musician there. Such melisma and emotion. (Anyway, the live at UNICEF Gala was not in original key. The uploader of the video posted before just likes to heighten her voice in most of her vids). She sang it in the original key at Oprah's once and she really had trouble there, but actually I really love that version too.

Her version at Divas Live is my favorite, I think. World Children's Day's is up there too, except that the verses are a little too nasal to me.

Anyway, I think one of her best notes ever, and I could just listen to that for hours, is the "Aaaaaaand I knoooooow" as the Oscars. This is just outside this world.

I just don't like this song, but I must admit this live version with dancers was great, and she was so beautiful!!

I forgot all about this. She's just watching the dancers, singing was an afterthought!
I have had the time of my life following this woman! Much love.

I strongly believe the UNICEF performance was the very first time she performed the song live.

Concerning the MHWGO performance on Divas Live, please check out this video, showing the Unedited performance of that night:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcVOhfmvbQM. Side note: The whole Divas Live concert was sickly edited. If you want to know how all singers sounded, without overdubs, check out all the other vids. BTW: Celine sounded far best of all.. especially during Natural Woman and Testimony (during the vocal battle Aretha sounded like a crazy pig compared to Celine).

Hehe. You're probably right, but I thought that she sang her first live of MHWGO at Rosie's (just not the full song).

Anyway, I know these unedited versions and I just love them. Mariah edited many parts of this concert. Concerning Celine and Aretha, it's less noticeable except in the Testimony's part. I think it's essentially due to the fact that Aretha's mic was always on, whereas the others' were not and were lower.

The World Children's Day performance remains my favourite without doubt but there have been others which I truly love as well.

The performance from War Child in 1998 is memorable for Andrea Corr "playing" the tin whistle throughout the song and I'd love to see extended footage of the audience at the end of this performance. They are going wild for Celine.

I didn't know Ne-Yo uploaded that video. :sofunny: Anyway, what disappointing news.

I'm going to go hunt for the actual version then. Thanks for the information though.

Not only this one is my favorite MHWGO performance, I consider his very moment as THE highlight of her career; Celine for the eyes of the world, on the biggest show of the year, with full voice, singing one of the biggest songs as well as the best awarded song EVER, supported by a beautifully directed orchestra. It doesn't get any better than that.

I also love her moves. You can tell she is working like hell,, full in the moment, fully present,

you know.. She was so concentrated, you can already tell by the way she begins singing. Great focus.

Rather intriguing I find the big belt at the end of the modulation.. I cannot remember her ever singing that note so powerful, except from the studio version of course, which possibly was an artificially extended note, adapted from the take we know as the soundtrack version..

Here's another favorite for a few reasons

1) I always hate the way she "steps up the note" when she sings 'you're here' at the climax of the song in live performance. In this performance she doesn't do that.

2) There's a little moment around 2:17 at "there's noooothing I fear" and I don't know if it's planned or accidental, but I like it!

3) Her voice sounds fantastic, imo. VERY powerful and clear.

4) It's such an "edge of glory" moment. According to the caption, it aired December 16, 1997, just days before the film came out. There were probably many people in the audience hearing the song for the first time at that moment, and they had no idea how enormous it was going to be in a few weeks.

I love the Rosie one, too, because it was before the song was famous (and also b/c it's connected with what is possibly the cutest and funniest interview ever -- that was the day she spontaneously joined Richard Simmons' segment.) And I've always liked the Divas Live version, where she talks about how it was the anniversary of the Titanic striking the iceberg. She'd sung that song many times already, but that night, thinking again about the Titanic victims, I think the emotion was back in it for her (she looks so sad and so passionate; and it takes her a moment to come out of it at the end and respond to the cheering audience) -- very powerful performance:

Wonderful, thanks for adding some information about the moment this performance was done; shortly before MHWGO and Titanic made the world explode.

She was really smooth in that interview.. God, it has been a while.. more than 15 years already.

BTW: the echo on the big note, I always hated that.. they post added that to the DIvas Live performance as well

I gotta say my favorite live performance of MHWGO (and yes I know they aren't actually live, but shh) is the one where I got to see her live. Gave me chills and I cried like a baby. Can't wait to see it again in August but this time front and center in the 2nd row.

However that being said the one on Jay Leno is probably one of my favorite one's
