PopMusicBoy Posted May 6, 2013 at 03:24 PM Posted May 6, 2013 at 03:24 PM Celine is certainly a go-to artist for Glee star Lea Michele. She has already performed Taking Chances & It's All Coming Back To Me Now. In the season 4 finale, she will take on To Love You More. The episode airs on Thursday. 1 Quote
minolli Posted May 6, 2013 at 04:31 PM Posted May 6, 2013 at 04:31 PM Lea Michele's version of TLYM has been posted on Celine's Facebook page: https://soundcloud.com/gleethemusic/to-love-you-more/s-LfcpT I'm generally kind of skeptical when it comes to covers of Celine's songs, but I think Lea's done a fair job with them in the past. This is the most different from the original version that they've done so far on the show, and I think it's actually a really interesting take. It's not as dynamic or "epic" as Celine's version, but I think it's kind of nice to hear a more mellow take on the song. It feels fresh to me, after having heard the same arrangement for the past 15+ years. I'd love to see Celine perform a version that's a bit more stripped down like this, at least once. 1 Quote http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lsg43qJH1b1qa4phqo1_400.jpg
QueenCeline87 Posted May 6, 2013 at 04:34 PM Posted May 6, 2013 at 04:34 PM I really like her take , it's different, she didn't try to sound like Celine , she made it her own! I'm still holding out for a Celine themed episode!! Quote http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_-RQtOAL6F2I/TAZl-_MB2AI/AAAAAAAAAiI/bkJK6a44q3o/s1600/celine-dion-goodbyes-the-saddest-word.jpg
CelinesDIVO5 Posted May 6, 2013 at 05:10 PM Posted May 6, 2013 at 05:10 PM I hate listening to Glee recordings, they are just too autotuned and polished and I know these singers don't need all that electronic bullshit... québecflower Posted May 6, 2013 at 06:35 PM Posted May 6, 2013 at 06:35 PM I think this is the exact right time (this year) to lauch a Celine's album. Her songs are everywhere, in every talent show. 3 Quote Plus qu'ailleurs , but now Si c'était à refaire , i still love tant de temps....
LuisMa Posted May 6, 2013 at 06:56 PM Posted May 6, 2013 at 06:56 PM Though I'm also not a big fan of Glee recordings, I agree that it's great that Celine songs are used in this show: the more the exposure, the better. 1 Quote
chocolatechip15 Posted May 7, 2013 at 01:12 AM Posted May 7, 2013 at 01:12 AM Lea Michele's voice is beautiful --she did a good job. But I really dislike the instrumental arrangement -- this song was written as a duet for voice and violin -- without the violin solos, and the melody being echoed between voice and violin, it loses a huge part of its magic (for me). (I think there's a little violin in here, but not nearly as much as the original, and what *is* that instrument at the beginning? I find it much too high pitched). 1 Quote
québecflower Posted May 7, 2013 at 01:25 AM Posted May 7, 2013 at 01:25 AM (edited) this is the early spring birds in the beginning...... Lea Michele is a great singer, this version is too slow, and i find that it lacks sweetness, and the projection of the voice is nowhere near Celine. Not enough nuance beside the screeming near the end. This is a Celine song and hers only. neilpharmd Posted May 7, 2013 at 03:42 AM Posted May 7, 2013 at 03:42 AM The background arrangement (begins in G Major, whereas Celine's version in entirely in A Major) is a vastly different interpretation of Celine's hit. Instead of the violin intro, we get a pan flute. Then the accompaniment is more simple piano, guitar strums, and basic drum set. With that said, Ms. Michele's version conforms to that change in that it's a bit more laid back yet her vocals are still very much commanding when it needs to be. She even uses a lot of the same inflections that Celine uses, especially during the last chorus. Then of course, the key change after the bridge to a whole step to A Major is a bit of a surprise but works well for this version. All in all, not bad Lea Michele. But Celine's arrangement will alway be held the standard, hands down! 1 Quote
chocolatechip15 Posted May 7, 2013 at 04:10 AM Posted May 7, 2013 at 04:10 AM (edited) There's nothing like Celine's version, but in terms of covers, I like Charice's a lot better than this Glee one -- mostly because I think this musical arrangement worked better (this song needs the violin! It's not To Love You More without it!). I thought the upbeat dance ending worked here (plus her sparkly microphone is very cute!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrFkMEt4y2M Edited May 7, 2013 at 04:12 AM by chocolatechip15 Quote

Bóól'át'í Posted May 8, 2013 at 01:02 AM Posted May 8, 2013 at 01:02 AM I used to be such a Gleek. But I'm so over the show. It's sad to see a show struggle that used to be a ratings bonanza. Just do the right thing and cancel it. FOX, you listening? Quote
Yangedd Posted May 8, 2013 at 12:32 PM Posted May 8, 2013 at 12:32 PM I think Lea does a fantastic job covering Celine's songs, but I can't get into this at all. It lacks that special touch that Celine brings to the song. 1 Quote http://thelavalizard.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/celine-dion-quebec-thelavalizard.pngYou Loved Me Back To Life, Life!

FOX, you listening?I agree, it used to be a hit show when they sang classic and show tunes like in season 1, lately it's been just boooooooooring, song selection is soooo wrong, they sure hire Simon Cowell to chose their songs (lol) I think Lea does a fantastic job covering Celine's songs, but I can't get into this at all. It lacks that special touch that Celine brings to the song.Exactly! Lea does a great job and her voice is amazing but she doesn't have that special Celine touch. Looking forward to see this performance though. Celine owns that song and it should only be sung by her and her alone. Sorry to the Glee and Lea Michelle fans, but it was plain hidious. Of course it isn't as good as Céline's, and the song really needs more violin than this version offered. But you can't honestly, seriously say that Lea Michelle was "horrible" or "hideous" on this. If you can, then you have an unbelievably high bar when it comes to singing/performing. Quote http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v27/warathogwarts/lovedmebackbanner.jpg
LVCeline Posted May 11, 2013 at 06:29 PM Posted May 11, 2013 at 06:29 PM Honestly, I was going into this expecting a disaster. I can't stand Glee covers, they always sound like, well a high school Glee club. This one sounded AWESOME to me! Wow, I give Lea a ton of credit, the arrangement was unique and her vocals were very solid. I really liked it! Good on her! Quote
