It's already tied with BYLM for the third spot...just two more weeks and it will be tied with ANDHC...or 3 more weeks and it will finally become the most successful AC entry for a female artist!

How can Kelly be tied with Celine....she is at #3 this week on the AC chart...not #1. She had 15 weeks at number one, the was beat out by Michael Buble....then she only had two other weeks at #1 after that......now she is at #3, #2 on last weeks poll. That is only 17 weeks at #1.

Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway" (Walt Disney/Hollywood) reaches another milestone on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart, as it refuses to move from the No. 1 spot. The song from the soundtrack to "The Princess Diaries 2" leads the list for the 19th week, tying Celine Dion's "Because You Loved Me" as the second-longest running AC No. 1 by a solo female artist.

Only Dion's "A New Day Has Come," at 21 weeks, has had a longer visit at the summit.

If "Breakaway" can maintain its No. 1 status, it has the potential to become the longest-running No. 1 AC of all time. At the moment it is tied with Dion's "Because You Loved Me" for third place. "A New Day Has Come" is runner-up to "Drift Away" by Uncle Kracker featuring Dobie Gray, with a way-out-in front 28 weeks on top.

I agree with Mozinha... I love Kelly Clarkson she rocks! But in my opinion she is no Celine Dion...Celine RULZ!!! Celine is the best female artist who has and will ever exist.

Someone would eventually tie or beat Céline's streak so let it be someone good. Kelly Clarkson has a strong voice, not a great as Céline's. Sheryl Crow has a dynamic voice. Many of her songs have good, thought provoking lyrics she writes herself-talented singer. Her style is completely different than Céline's nevertheless her style remains strong and appealing-at least in the US.

In the 70's there were some great female artists that could give Celine a run for her money like Joni Mitchel, Carole King or Carly Simon. Some people may disagree with me which is fine

It's official: Kelly doesn't beat Céline. This week she lost her #1 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart. "Breakaway" stayed 20 weeks at #1 vs. "A New Day Has Come" 21 weeks.

So, "A New Day Has Come" is still the longest-running No. 1 by a female artist and the second-longest No. 1 in AC history, runner-up only to the 28-week record held by Uncle Kracker and Dobie Gray's "Drift Away."

No one knows who this girl is outside USA and if she beats Celine in AC chart it doenst mean that she´s better than Celine Dion. Celine has a big carrear from decades and decades, this girl is just starting now!

I had no idea who Kelly was until I read this thread, so I went to iTunes music store to download her songs just to give my opinion :lol:

She has an amazing voice, but, quite frankly, her songs don`t do her any justice!!

They`re really boring and the lyrics lack a little luster too.

20 weeks at #1 is cool but I don`t see her getting a grammy anytime soon!!

Instead, Michael Buble earns his first No. 1 on this survey, as "Home" (143/Reprise) finally moves up after nine (non-consecutive) weeks at No. 2. I liked Kelly when she first came out with "Thankful" but she's changed so much and she seems really angry with her new music. But honostly, I don't think Kelly could ever match up with Celine. Celine's music has integraty, and there's something about her that many artists lack. :ermm:

Celine is the best, and to me, NO ONE will ever top her!! :in_love:
