Now that we're a week into the new year, how about posting our favorite songs or albums for the year that passed? Here are my Top 10 singles for 2012:

10. P!nk "Try"

P!nk never ceases to amaze me with her creativity and strong singles. "Try" is probably my favorite of her hits so far. The video is amazing, it has a hot choreography (and hot model). The lyrics are great as well "Just because it burns doesn't mean you're gonna die, you gotta get up and try, try, TRY!"

9. Aubrey O'Day "Wrecking Ball"

Now Aubrey O'Day (formerly of R&B group Danity Kane) is not really my cup of tea because of her antics and weird personality (I found her annoying on Celebrity Apprentice). But this song is pretty good. Written by a huge Celine Dion fan, former American Idol contestant Pia Toscano.

8. One Direction "One Thing"

I was not a fan of One Direction while on the X-Factor UK and I didn't like their debut single "What Makes You Beautiful". But "One Thing" is catchy as hell and the video is cute.

Now this song may not have the smartest lyrics, but the beat is awesome. A fun, danceable track.

6. Taylor Swift "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together"

One of two country hits in my countdown, although this is as pop as it can get. Taylor Swift has great hits with amazing hooks and clever lyrics. Love the LIKE....... EVER part.

5. Carly Rae Jepsen "Call Me Maybe"

The inescapable "Call Me Maybe". I played it big time before it was a super hit everywhere. If you haven't listened to it, probably you've been in another planet. Love the ending to the video.

4. Josh Turner "Time Is Love"

This is my favorite country song for the year. I loooooove Josh Turner. He's been a favorite of mine for years. And though this song is from the very beginning of 2012, I still play it constantly.

3. Cheryl "Under The Sun"

Though a lot of people may not like Cheryl Cole, she's one of my favorite artists. Love her persona and her eyes: they're gorgeous and say it all. "Under The Sun" has this old vibe to it that is fabulous. A highlight for me.

2. Cheryl "Call My Name"

It's Cheryl back to back, with the fantastic "Call My Name". Love the beat, love the video, love the choreography. I've gotta say that though I love her, the album "A Million Lights" is pretty bad. Thank God for these two singles and another song "Ghetto Baby", which was written by Lana Del Rey.

1. Demi Lovato "Give Your Heart A Break"

I did not care for this song a lot when I first listened to it, but it was a grower, and it's my favorite track for 2012. Co-written by Billy Steinberg, who also helmed Celine's "I Drove All Night", Cyndi's "True Colors" and The Bangles' "In Your Room" among a lot of great tracks.

So I watched the video again as I had only ever seen it once. Anyway the part of the video that has a lighthouse and ocean photo in the background... That's a 30 minute drive from here I live. Haha.

Well there are a few albums that grabbed my attention and marked my 2012 musically.

The first one should not come as a surpise:

1 Céline Dion - Sans Attendre

What can I say? The most anticipated album of this decade!! I am so happy with it! IMO there are no bad songs on them.

La Mer Et L'Enfant is one of my big favs at the moment, the other being Attendre.

2 Emeli Sande - Our Versions of Events

She grapped my attention with Next To Me. I just love her voice, writing skills and music! I still call her Beyonce in human proportions.

I posted the limited edition, which is the version I bought. The only song that's a bit of a let down is Imagine (John Lennon) an unnecessary cover imo)

My Kind Of Love has a great touching video. But again, amazing songs on the album! Bell, you should also check out 'Wonder' which is even better than Beneath ur Beautiful IMO.

3 Scissor Sisters - Magic Hour

Without a doubt their best album!! This record is right from A to Zebra! :giggle: Keep your shoes on is just a freaky song with cewl funny lyrics!

Seeing them in concert for the first time, together with John, was an unforgetable night! Even more so cos we caught Jake outside the Milkyway! :-D

4 Ilse Delange - Eye Of The Hurricane

Another amazing new and personal album from Dutch Singer Ilse DeLange. She started off country, but developed herself quickly into singer/songwriter.

Her dream is still to make it in the USA. She had a whole POP album ready to be released (Check out DOLUV2LUVU), but then... her father got cancer and died.

She didn't feel like releasing the albums she made anymore, and instead started overnew again. A more personal and more intimate album was the result.

Songs about her fathers death are haunting: Hurricane, We Are One, I Need For You and Time Will Have To Wait. But there are also strong songs, that I can't wait to hear live:

Magic, We Are Diamond and Winter Of Love. Get this album if you can, it's the best female singer Holland has got to offer IMO!

5 Madonna - MDNA

Ok, I have to admit, I disliked the album soooo much when I first heard it. But when I started to listen to it more before seeing her in concert

and seeing her in concert performing the songs made me love the album so much!! It's defo a great album and I'd even dare to put it in my top three

with Ray of Light and Music! Girl Gone Wild, I'm Addicted, I Don't Give A, Masterpiece and I'm A Sinner are classics IMO!

6 Mika - The Origin Of Love

Mika's back! His second album was good, but not as good as Life in Cartoon Motion. The Origin of Love is again a solid album, tho very different than his debut!

I saw him in concert last year too, which was again one big party! Tho this was the third time and in the smallest venue so far. IMO he should do bigger venues,

cos he and big bang shows go so well! I hope this album gets more attention than The Boy Who Knew Too Much, cos it deserves it!

Absolute favorites: Underwater, The Origin of Love, Stardust, Love You When I'm Drunk, and Make You Happy.

OMG the Scissor Sisters album is amazing. And I love "Only The Horses". And I've seen the picture of you three handsome guys together. That must have been absolutely amazing. :wub:

And I agree that Mika is back with a BANG! Fabulous album, much much better than the previous one.

So far, "Hurricane" is awesome and poignant. It starts very country, but then it also has a pop/rock feel to it. Her voice evokes an old Olivia Newton-John record. :wub:

Davey, I finished listening to it and it's even incredibler than incredible. :laugh:

I love Space Cowboy, what a mellow melody, just makes you move your head along as you listen. Amazing!

Magic also reminds me of an old Pat Benatar record.

Hurricane, Winter Of Love, We Are One and Fold The World are also highlights for me.

But it's a very cohesive album, you can listen to it perfectly without skipping any tracks. The only one I didn't like a lot was Learning To Swim.

I heard 'Wonder', it's good, I just have the feeling that whatever she sings, I'm gonna like it. BTW, 'My Kind Of Love' is among my all time favourites, I also like 'Breaking The Law' and 'Read All About It Part ІІІ'.

Oh my god what a great song!! I almost don't even have words. I played it on almost every single one of my runs after I had heard it and it became one of my favourite running songs. A wonderful song! This reminds me so much of last summer. I loved to play it when I was running, or biking, on an empty road, the Sun slowly setting, and every time I experienced this amazing feeling of freedom. And my biggest love for 2012 was this. <3 I first heard it during a spinning class in the spring, and I immediately liked it a lot. In a few days I had completely fallen in love with it, so that I was listening to it dozens of times a day, for many weeks, and it easily became my number one favourite song for many many weeks. It stayed one of my favourites through whole year, and on September it started to play at the gym, on a Les Mills Bodypump class and it was again so great! I love the beginning of the song, I love the tempo, I looove the lyrics and I just love everything about it!!! Number one song of last year. <3

Here, I love Train's song (although I like "Drive By" more), and the David Guetta/Sia collab is fabulous. Ditto for J-Lo's. I don't love "Stronger" that much, although Kelly Clarkson is definitely one of my favorite artists ever. Nice selections and thank you for posting them!
