Celine again in Europe in 2013,new interview Le Journal de Montreal

mmm interesting, the last part of the interview ( google translate)

No more world tours

Celine, René and their little family had to fly to Florida today. Nothing is scheduled until December 28. Shows in Vegas are then scheduled for the end of the year and the month of January.

"In Las Vegas, it is 17 weeks 70 shows per year. It remains still 35 weeks to do something else, "says Angélil.

Even though she has two new albums to defend next year, Celine Dion did not embark on a world tour as exhausting as was that of Taking Chances in 2008.

"We will never again a world tour as we have done, said René Angélil. We will instead make slices of touring the world as artists are U2, Madonna, Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney. None of these artists has done 135 shows in sequence from each other. I understood why! We're going to tour 20 to 30 shows a year. It takes too much energy to go as we did.

[...] The first block shows may be for fall 2013. We will discuss with our team in December in Las Vegas. "

IT IS CLEAR THAT THIS MEANS CELINE WILL TOUR AGAIN!!!!!!! ( even though not so many shows after one another.. but she will!!! )

That's right :thumbsup2: He said that its very difficult to achieve those sales these days when the young people use to create their own albums with 4-5 songs of the artists they love, but they don't buy the full album.

What I don't get is why he counts in the young fans when he wants, and when he doesn't want to consider what we want he just doesn't include us in the bag (singles, videos, releases etc) -_- -_- -_- Of course the sales of this album and the Céline target public is made mainly in its majority of adult people and she has no longuer the amount of adolescents or teenagers she used to have in the 90's, so its the people who sees her in Vegas who helped to reach 500,000 copies buying the physical album. You just have to see the age range of her audience in her concerts, both in Vegas and during the last world tour, 30 and up.

And of course, she has fans who are still in their 20's, but I think this fanbase has decreased a lot since years ago... they have worked hard to get this with the kind of songs and album concepts they have decided to promote.

I would say her fan range is about at the 25-60 age level. Most people in their mid 20s remember our junior high dances where they would play "I Love You" and "Declaration of Love." After all, those of us in our mid 20's were the ones that made albums like ANDHC such a success. People forget how extremely well that sold all over the world. Now Sans Attendre is getting unbelievable sales! Edited by Alex_Incognito

After all, those of us in our mid 20's were the ones that made albums like ANDHC such a success. People forget how extremely well that sold all over the world. Exactly, that's what I mean Alex! I was 17 when ANDHC was released and friends of my age still remember ANDHC and I'm Alive being played at the radios at that time, and they even enjoyed those tunes. So that's why I can't understand WHY René has neglected over the years this specific fanbase with that age range.

ANDHC was her last successful album in a worldwide scale, and it was an album clearly conveived and oriented to a younger fanbase (though it still had the "classic" Céline in it). If the album was such a phenomenonal sucess in Europe, why they had to abandon this kind of music? It's like they wanted to open a door with this album, it worked very well, but then they slammed the door with no more explanation, to focus again on a very concrete style of song and performance that to me, it got boring at some points with the excessive (and even obessive) use of slow ballads and covering old songs. That for not mentioning the incessant use she has made of the same 5 hits of her early career during the Vegas stage and everywhere she performed and toured, instead of giving space to more of the new material and the new songs that she was recording.

René has worked very hard to ignore the pop songs of Céline after 2003, and the musical tastes of the generation who grew with the TTWII in All The Way and then the ANDHC album. Yes, those are the fans who are in their mid 20's today, but I'm afraid that's the youngest generation of fans she has today. Of course there are exceptions, but the teenagers who know Céline today it's not precisely because they hear her being played in the radios or in TV. I'm not saying that I would like that to happen and that it's a requirement to please the audience today, but it's such a shame they have abandoned a path that she could have taken care of very well if she had actually know that fans loved it that much (maybe as much and even more than the path she took ignoring those pop songs). But I'm afraid anybody in her team took the trouble to tell Céline that fans would love to see her performing the songs included in her new albums instead of always the same songs of the 90's. And especially, nobody cared enough to call her attention and say "hey, you have also a young audience who like to DANCE with your songs", not just sitting down while they see you singing BYLM for the 1.001 time

This interview made me so happy and so optimistic about the new English album! I only hope they will drop the cover from her Vegas show and put only new original songs!

Don't forget MHWGO for the 1,000th time also. It's funny that all we want, crave, is original material. We aren't asking for her to change her image. I like her image. Her "team" must know that or they are so out of touch.....or don't care.

I only hope they will drop the cover from her Vegas show and put only new original songs!

I cannot agree with you more! Let Vegas stay where Vegas is and not be included in an album release that has taken over 5 years to produce!! This is going to sound corny but what happens in Vegas should stay in Vegas!! Not be filler for her CD.

(I guess this could belong on the WAAF topic)

obviously the purpose of that album, will be to attract more visitors to Vegas.

By the way most people of that younger generation don't know the dull covers she sings, the sleepy songs

the bond medley the mr. paganini etc.

I sooooo agree with Javito that they don't have a clue what is hot and not.

It is not that Celine has to be like Rihanna or has to wear sexy things or has to move sexy on stage

we are talking about music that is fresh , uplifting, like That's the Way it is, like, Right in Front of You,

like Ain't gonna look the other way, like, You and I, and I can go and on!

by the way, Celine is still YOUNG ... she is in her 40s, she is looking fresh, but her Vegas show sounds like she is already retiring, singing for a mostly 60+ crowd who don't even know most of her repertoire. By doing these kind of songs she neglects all the beautful songs she has recorded in the past, the albums she worked so hard for. It is like they never existed and that her famous songs are only the power of love, because you loved me, it's all coming back to me now, river deep mountain and my heart will go on.... by the way I would not be surprised that this last tour, I think it will be her last tour, will be Vegas-on-tour , just like the Jamaica concert, probably even the same versions. I don't see them adding a lot of new stuff in the show. I bet the show will be the full Vegas setlist and maybe just maybe 1 french song, which will be Ne Me Quite Pas ( instead of any great song from her new album). That way there is not need for her to rehearse new songs, she can easily put this setlist on tour.

Well I will see this show no matter what, that is for sure! with or without those Vegas-covers, as it will probably the last time I will be able to see and hear her.

Well the Vegas setlist is catered toward a more general audience, as the percentage of non-fans is generally quite high. When Celine is on tour, it is usually the hardcore fans that make up the majority of the audience as they have an opportunity to see her in their country. So I don't think the setlist will contain the covers from the Vegas show, I'm pretty sure there will be more of her own material, and new material too with her new French & English albums!

It is so good to know that they want something more.. 'coz when I see those interviews that Celine says " I just want to be the best mother and I sing because i like to do it "

It sounds to me " okay, I did my job !! I worked SO hard in 90's , now I sing for pleasure, and I don't need or want, something more but be the best mother I can be, for my children"

I'm exited with this news!! 'coz I expect something cool, like One Heart, more pop.. with ballads of course. Celine is young, she can do that, and sell that... I jsut think that, even though they don't need, they have a contract with Sony... and need to sell more and more as every artist..
