Board Upgrade 11-18-12

We are aware that there are some issues to still work out and we will post updates in here. If you notice something isn't working properly clear your browser's cache/cookies. Then check the list below for known issues. If you are experiencing something new please let us know.

1. PMs are still being rebuilt now, it should be done soon. The Messenger is disabled. It's done now.

Do not panic when you see the red DELETED text in the Messenger. It's an archived message that was received before the upgrade, you cannot reply to it but can still read and copy and paste the message to a new conversation if you want to reply to that member

2. Posts made before the upgrade do not look right because they will need to be rebuilt It'll take at least a day to complete.

3. The gallery will return at some point, I just need to figure out how to integrate it with the new forum.

4. Personal photos replaced avatars and they will appear on every page your profile is shown.

5. More skins will be made available in the next day or two. Added "Parler à mon père" skin with color picker on the top right and Overlay Blueberry. There are 3 skins to choose from now. We don't have plans to add more in the near future.

6. I'm aware that there are ongoing issues with the forum's loading speed.

7. More languages will be added in the coming days. Added French language.

8. ADA accessibility.

9. Emoticons are not sorted correctly. Not sure if it's possible to re-order them with the most commonly used ones first.

10. Attachments in PMs are not showing up for everyone. However, the files are still on the server. Please send me a message if you want them. I will have to manually go through each month's folder.

11. Posts containing the spoiler tag do not show when it's clicked on. I have to manually edit each post to make it work. I may do this for important posts when I have more free time.

12. Embedded Youtube videos will not show up in the post properly. I am running a script to fix them.

They aren't deleted. They just haven't been transferred into the new board.This will be on the to-do list. Since all this information is stored in a database not all fields from the earlier version of the board will translate into the new fields of the upgraded version of the board.

 

I had a few (couple thousand PMs) so I'm looking forward to having them back as well

I have 3 emails from the forum but neither go where they should

The first was to approve a friend request...can't find anything to approve it

The second and third are for further comments posted on two topics of the forum...when I clicked to see newest comments it directed me to the first page of the topic...when I clicked to see last page it stated that the system was unavailable

Wow! I really like the new forum look!! Is there still going to be a photo gallery, cuz i don't see it at the top of the page anymore? There's just Forums, Members and Calendar.

 

I really would enjoy having a new, up to date photo gallery on the forum. Back in the day, it would get updated with new pics all the time, but now all we really see updated is the fashion pics.

It looks like some people's old avatars still show up, and not the personal pictures. Don't know if it is just me though... I can't see my personal picture anywhere.

One thing ; When I open the page on my android phone, I can see a mobile version, which is great, but I cannot go the last page , except by pressing next the whole time, until i reach the page I wanted to see.

Also when I go back to web-layour on my phone, I cannot go to the last page easily. Can someone tell me how to, or what am I doing wrong?

I really like the new layout, it's a lot easier to use, especially if you're using a screenreader.

One thing I'm confused about. I can see a couple of one of my friend's posts, but I know she has more than that. Is the reason I can't see them all just because they haven't been transfered over yet?

This is my to-do list and not necessarily a bug report.

 

Frosty is missing

Facebook/Twitter/Youtube/G+ links need to be re-added to skin.

Emoticons in a post (even created after the upgrade) do not always post. Maybe it's just the .png ones as the .gif ones seem to work fine.

Mobile features is new and has not been fully tested. I can test on Android and Windows OS but someone else will need to take on iOS

Need to communicate change about personal photos and avatars.

Load speeds erratic. Time out last nights, better today. This definitely needs a higher priority as we don't want people losing interest waiting for a page to load. Caching/rebuilding issue probably.

In case you're interested, I haven't noticed any slow load times, but since I have no use for pictures/graphics that might not be much help.

I haven't tried any of the faces or other graphics, but that's mostly because I never think to use them lol.

What do you mean about trying out IOS? Is there a forum app, or do you just mean testing the website with Saphari.

Slowness comes and goes for me.

Both; using it on a mobile browser such as Safari or Chrome or IE for Windows Phones and as an App. I think there's an app for iOS only: http://www.invisionpower.com/mobile/

It's because you didn't have one before the upgrade. Maybe the avatars are showing up instead because those members didn't have a personal photo since I converted from all personal photos.

Because mine was from the avatar gallery which isn't carried over to the new version.

All the pics of Celine in the heading right at the top of the page, fill the whole width of the computer screen, but the rest of all the topics, everything, is down the middle, with a wide empty space on each side. Is that right? The change is great by the way. Thanks so much for all your effort.

Kev: Are you having problems viewing your old PMs or sending/receive new ones? The old PMs have started to rebuild so you should see them eventually.

Oooops, I forgot to mention that the Messenger was disabled (to be on the safe side) because all the content was being rebuilt. Good news is that it's done.

It's a message that was received before the upgrade that is view only. All new messages from now on should not have that and can be replied to.

Need to looking into making the board more ADA accessible. Will work with Christina to gather info and look for solutions. May have to have a special skin or a specific mod.

My son did that for me this morning, but it's still the same problem. He did'nt have time to help me with the resolution and browser stuff, he had to get to work. The thing is everything was 100% fine before, full screen with everthing. This has only come up since yesterday when the new forum was upgraded. Maybe he will help me again tonight. Sorry, i am hopeless at try to sort these things out on my own. It's just that it all worked fine before. Thanks anyway, hope it all will come right.
