imaswede78 Posted October 28, 2012 at 03:11 AM Posted October 28, 2012 at 03:11 AM MTV and VHI rarely play videos and certainly not Celine videos. When Celine makes music videos where are they shown? And videos are expensive to produce - are they worth it anymore? The last video I remember seeing was I Drove All Night in 2003. Just wondered! Thoughts? Quote

imaswede78 Posted October 28, 2012 at 04:55 AM Author Posted October 28, 2012 at 04:55 AM MV still plays very important in promoting the single... But, if videos are still important in promoting songs where are the videos played? We all love Celine but she isn't being played on MTV or VH1! Quote
zuv Posted October 28, 2012 at 05:50 AM Posted October 28, 2012 at 05:50 AM lol thats why they (celine's team) make the cheapest music videos. its usually just Celine singing and dancing in front of the camera.... You'll never see a madonna-britney-lady-gaga-type of video for Celine. I think she makes those videos just to bring a particular attention to some songs. Like the video clip for ABM, its one of the most boring, unrealistic and cheapest video she ever made BUT, its there for people to see and watch when listening to the song or presenting the song on TV etc... its a memory, an archive. It exists and its great like this.and it also please the fans as well... Quote
LuisMa Posted October 28, 2012 at 10:50 AM Posted October 28, 2012 at 10:50 AM Also, remember that YouTube is an important factor now when promoting a song/single, so a great music video is a good vehicle for exposure. I wish the videos for these coming eras are nothing but spectacular. Quote

Yeah just remember that on Youtube the music industry has launched Vevo (CelineDionVevo, RickyMartinVevo etc) for each singer. So their Music videos and clips of live performances are aired on there to promote their songs and singles with or without cars. MTJ Posted October 28, 2012 at 12:18 PM Posted October 28, 2012 at 12:18 PM I think it's a good point, and her team has obviously taken it into account. I found it so interesting that Le Miracle was filmed at Le Mirage - a space they wouldn't have to pay to rent. Maybe it was just so she would be more comfortable. . . Quote

Yeah I agree.... music stations aren't that music-y anymore But a lot of (young) people now search on youtube for videos.Like Javito said before: it's better to have a music video (or at least a performance video) of a song, than crappy home made lyrics or photos video... Shaun Posted October 28, 2012 at 12:41 PM Posted October 28, 2012 at 12:41 PM Music videos still can be "events" for artists but as we've so often seen with Celine's team they are quite simply too late most of the time to take advantage of any "buzz" that Celine creates. There is still a place for music videos though, there are so many different ways they can be utilised such as with Youtube and even Facebook etc. Quote Bringing you the world's only Celine Dion podcast show since 2014.Find us on Soundcloud, Apple Podcasts, Spotify & Amazon Music.
browseceline Posted October 31, 2012 at 06:10 PM Posted October 31, 2012 at 06:10 PM Today I was at the Mediamarkt, which is a huge mediastore/cdstore and they were playing such awful music , it was some kind of singer singing with a very obvious autotune effect on his voice. It was soooo annoying. Why can't they show someone's real voice? What kind of singer are you when you let yourself completely be autotuned ( not just a few notes, but like cher)?Celine was hot in the 90s... don't think she will be hot again in these times where r&b and rap are dominant Quote <iframe width="640" height="390" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/hl2XkxnYljg" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>
bruno_oliveira Posted November 1, 2012 at 02:49 AM Posted November 1, 2012 at 02:49 AM music videos on youtube are hot...LIVE GLOBAL CONCERT FOR FREE ON YOUTUBE is even better... people dont forget that the way you see changes but not the habit of seing a music video.... like music itselfradio >> LP >> CD >> IPODS..... the internet is just the evolution....MTV is kinda old right now....i only tune to see VMA....and still i dont like it too much....i miss the 90s haha Quote
Bell Posted November 1, 2012 at 01:20 PM Posted November 1, 2012 at 01:20 PM the video clip for ABM, its one of the most boringI actually like it. But I got your point, Celine videos are usually very simple. Anyway, it's good to have them and, yes, I think music videos are important. Quote 16 YEARS A FORUM MEMBER
PopMusicBoy Posted November 13, 2012 at 06:40 AM Posted November 13, 2012 at 06:40 AM I actually thought the Taking Chances video was great. The problem is live performances are not videos, and they are always doing that with Celine (Aline, Eyes on Me, My Love, TLYM, etc...) The thing I notice is she does great videos for songs not in this market (especially her french singles). I Drove All Night and HYEBIL are easily her worst. (I heard somewhere, not sure if true, that the budget for IDAN was like $5,000). They don't necessarily need a blockbuster video, just something that will get people's attention (ie. Single Ladies) But sticking her in front of a green screen, or using a clip from a concert doesn't cut it for me. Quote
