Une chance qu'on s'a (Thank God we have each other! / Lucky we have each other)

Thank God I have you

I have you, you have me

Thank God we have each other

When you call me "honey"

With your pretty voice

You dress my wounds

You kill all my dark butterflies

You make light balls

With your little fingers

You scare owls away

Thank God I have you

I have you, you have me

Thank God we have each other

I'm not that tall

Not that strong

But if anyone comes

And makes you sad

It'll be over my dead body

Rely on me

My kitten

You'll never be afraid

As long as I live

And even, even if I die

(Thank God I have you)

I'll go to every planetarium

(I have you, you have me)

Search in every galaxy

The greatest of all women

I'd still end up in your bed

Paradise is here

There's no other life

I give you mine

Because I love you infinitely

(Thank God I have you)

I'll go to every planetarium

(I have you, you have me)

Search in every galaxy

Thank God we have each other

Thank God we love each other...

(Jean-Pierre Ferland / Alain Leblanc)

Fan translation.

OMD! I LOVE this song! Bring's me to tears, every time I hear it! Can't wait hearing the studio recording!

Thank you, that you translated it for me/for us at the Forum! :flowers:

And I love how they look at each other during their performance:

The translation is not correct..... It means "what a chance that we have each other" not "thank god" :flowers:

Actually this is why I wrote "Lucky we have each other" too in the title, so that people can read what they want. But I think that "Thank God" is more appropriate because it's an exclamation. It's not just "on a de la chance de s'avoir" (we're lucky to have each other) but clearly "Une chance qu'on s'a!" (Lucky we have each other! or Thank God we have each other!)

Sorry but I'm pretty sure that "What a chance that we..." is not proper english.

Lucky we have each other is better. "Thank God" is... Nah... Doesn't work for me at all. Too much christian.

 it's just an expression, like "oh my god". Who's actually thinking of God when they're in bed and shout "Oh my God it's so good!" :-D

I LOVE this song. I've heard it, God knows how many times, it's a classic but it still made me cry ! Céline is just the most perfect person to sing this song ! Mostly now. I can't wait to hear the whole thing and cry like a baby ! I think it's probably one of the most beautiful love songs !

Merci Céline pour ces deux soirées inoubliables que j'ai passées à tes côtés. Je ne les oublierais jamais.

J't'adore Céline.

Merci.

i'm not as good as you in english , but i think it should be more sweet than Thank god.... it expresse something like we are so lucky to have found each other, like a soul mate but without the spirituality, someone that is the world to the other person. Without being weak. If you follow the spirit of the song, the person is whole by herself but she becomes happier with the other. But this too long....

Plus qu'ailleurs , but now Si c'était à refaire , i still love tant de temps....

But, I have to agree with the ones who say that "Thank God" is not correct. "Lucky we have each other" is more like it.

Plus I would replace "You dress my wounds" by "You heal my wounds". "Panser" here is more about healing (soigner) than doing a bandage (faire un pansement).

Anyway, thanks for the translation !

I think this is the best song of the album. thank you for translating.

Album reminds me of Delles and I am so disappointed...Delles is not associated with good memories, so I am just not as excited as I was...after song preview, but we'll see. Have been waiting for new french album.

i think that you can be excited, becaus these songs are true. D'elles seems fabricated when you compare.

What a beautiful performance at ADISQ awards!! Did anyone understand what she was saying before the song? I think she said that she and Rene often say "Un Chance qu'on sa" to each other - I think they said it to each other even before knowing there was a song -- and then it sounded like she was telling a funny story about the first time she heard the song on TV, but I couldn't understand it!

Ahaha. What they're talking about is French language, because in a way, it's not totally correct to say "une chance qu'on s'a" which literally means "lucky one has each other".

And the thing is that Celine and Rene used to tell this to themselves. And when Ferland's song came out, she said she was happy because they're not the only one to make this pseudo-mistake xD.

Unfortunately I didn't understand what she's saying. That canadian accent is  !!!

But as far as I know, "Un Chance Qu'on s'a" is a quote René often used and so it became a "flying word" between Jean-Pierre and René and Celine.

Oh my god, I never noticed that she kissed J-P Ferland on the mouth in the end xD.

They always kiss on the mouth. Watch "Sur les plaines" ... same thing!!! But they are simply very good friends for a long time!!!

At first I thought I'd have a hard time listening to this song, I thought it would be too old-fashioned or too jazzy for me... But that was all before I heard it. I don't even know why I thought so. Now it is turning into one of my favourite songs, it is so beautiful!

I really appreciate how they didn't change it too much since it's a classic. It's very much appreciated. She is so cute with Jean-Pierre !
