Bell Posted October 5, 2012 at 05:50 PM Posted October 5, 2012 at 05:50 PM (edited) It's been 50! years since Sean Connery played the role of James Bond for the first time so I thought we could pay our own little tribute to the character and the movies. Several actors have played the role through the years. Let me tell you what I think about them. Connery is my favourite. Sir Sean as Bond... For me, that's magic! I never saw George Lazenby's performance (some say I didn't miss that much...). Both Roger Moore & Pierce Brosnan were OK...but nothing more than OK. I liked Timothy Dalton as Bond but he only starred in 2 movies. I really think he had a potential. As for Daniel Craig, at first I wasn't super happy about him being Bond. But then I found out that Daniel is a very, very good actor. Maybe too good for such a role. He once said he didn't want to be simply a physical actor. But the role of Bond is very physical. Or at least that's what we are used to. But if Daniel is able to change the attitude, the expectations about this character and bring Bond to a...more sophisticated level, it would be a great success. I'm starting to believe he's truly capable of doing it. So what's your opinion? Do you have a favourite movie? Or maybe a favourite Bond girl? Come and share it here! zuv Posted October 12, 2012 at 04:27 AM Posted October 12, 2012 at 04:27 AM I think its a big "eff you" to Celine from James Bond productions for having Adele sing on this next James Bond movie.... Celine's been paying tribute every night for a year an half to this series, making them huge publicity and all... Quote
Bell Posted October 12, 2012 at 05:37 AM Author Posted October 12, 2012 at 05:37 AM I agree. I'm not happy with the choice of Adele. I already commented in the thread about her. I don't even like the song much, too boring for me (although the lyrics aren't that bad). I don't really know why they chose her. I'm not saying it must have been exactly Celine...but I'm sure there were other (better) options. I mean, in almost every Bond movie so far the song has sounded quite...relevant to the year it was released in. And now we're back to...1960s? Quote 16 YEARS A FORUM MEMBER
Bell Posted October 16, 2012 at 11:27 AM Author Posted October 16, 2012 at 11:27 AM (edited) You know, talking about the Bond songs, I thought maybe Amy Lee could be a good choice, too. She has a good voice and a song with the sound of, let's say...'Bring Me To Life', would fit such a movie. Edited October 16, 2012 at 11:28 AM by Bell Quote 16 YEARS A FORUM MEMBER

Modesta Posted October 17, 2012 at 05:26 PM Posted October 17, 2012 at 05:26 PM (edited) My Real Mr. Bond is definitely Roger Moore. Probably because his movies were the first ones I saw as a kid. An his blue eyes mmm.. In the new movies Daniel Craig is ok, but he should stop training those shoulder / neck muscles, looks weird... (typo edit) Edited October 17, 2012 at 05:29 PM by Modesta Quote

But for me Daniel is one of the best actors that have ever played the role. I actually did not appreciate his acting skills until I saw him in other movies. Maybe his looks are not exactly...Bond. I myself had a hard time accepting it. But he is a wonderful actor. Quote 16 YEARS A FORUM MEMBER

Bell Posted September 28, 2014 at 05:07 PM Author Posted September 28, 2014 at 05:07 PM Revivng the topic.I saw 'Skyfall' these days on TV and appreciated it once again. One of the best Bond movies ever. Javier Bardem definitely steals the spotlight for me.On another note, there are rumours about Goran Visnic replacing Daniel Craig as Bond very soon. Nothing is confirmed but what would you guys say about this? I think Goran Visnic could play such a role (and has the right looks for it, unlike Daniel) but he is not British and this is a huge problem for me. Your thoughts? Quote 16 YEARS A FORUM MEMBER

Brosnan & Lazenby weren't British either......believe it or not but Burt Reynolds , Adam West & Jim Brolin were considered for the role (West in OHMSS , Reynolds in DAF & Brolin for OP) Edited September 29, 2014 at 02:41 PM by Graceland Quote

I'm even not quite willing to accept an American actor in the role. For me, a big part of Bond's charms is the fact that he (both the character and the actor) is British. Graceland Posted December 18, 2014 at 02:35 PM Posted December 18, 2014 at 02:35 PM (edited) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PiRx5rHbZCQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXSvwvDsomY OHMSS 45th anniversary today ! Check out my poster sgd by Lazenby & Rigg and the Corgi also sgd by both (still mint-on-card after 45 yrs lol) Rigg has only done 1 convention and she prolly won't do another , it was not her cup of tea......I'm not bragging when I say she was impressed by my Bond stuff I brought along to be sgd Also this autograph is pretty neat : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5Oh3ZqZxlg Unfortunately most 007 autographs on ebay are forged esp from a certain dealer that has endless supply of Connerys and obscure sigs (Gothard or Gotell for instance......most Dr No photos sgd by Wiseman are forged) at dirt cheap prices......beware ! I'm lucky enough to own 2 vintage Connerys : a still from TB & a still from DAF.......items such as these are *really* htf ! Edited December 18, 2014 at 02:39 PM by Graceland Quote
