Has Celine ever got you through a tough time?

My Mum passed away 16 months ago after a lengthy battle with colon cancer that saw her suffer right to the very end. I was in the hospital sitting by her side as she lost her battle and finally found peace with no more pain. It was and will be the most hardest day I ever endured.

 

Celine helped me through the tough times. Visiting my Mum at the funeral home and again during the funeral and the burial. I was numb and depressed and bordering on suicide to be with her, but Celine's music helped me though it and brought me out the other side.

 

I listened to "Goodbye's The Saddest Word" for a while because it suited me mood, but as months went by I began to listen to happier songs like "Seduces Me", "Alone" "i'm Alive", "Make You Happy" "Fly (for my Mum's journey to heaven)" and other songs.

 

I can say from the bottom of my heat that Celine brought me through the hard time and out the other side.

Very touching story Yangedd, I'm glad Celine's music helped you to go through it. In my case, the song Then You Look At Me reminds me to a very special friend that had to say goodbye to me about 4 years ago, a very touching story for me.

One of the brothers of my grandmother passed away two years ago and my mother said it to me while I was watching Celine performing Pour Que Tu M'aimes Encore in Montreal at a show from the Taking Chances World Tour in February of 2009 (I've got the concert on DVD). For the first time, Celine helped me to go through a difficult time; I listened to Fly on my bedroom that night. It was one of the most personal experiences I've had as a fan so far.

Then, a little bit less than a month ago, I received the terrible news that another one of my uncles had just lost his battle to a rare disease. He was 41 years old, my aunt is just destroyed but she's got her two daughters to help her to carry on. Unfortunately, she is the daughter of my grandmother's brother, who passed away two years ago. And now, she lost her husband... I thank God that she still has her two beautiful and energetic daughters and her mother to help her go through it.

So, as you can see, it's true; sometimes we focus a lot on the technical side of Celine's career (saying the things we don't like about her shows or her albums... etc) but it's much better to remember and never forget how much her music has helped all of us.

Some may see this as a very depressing story - i just see it as my life.

But for me Celine through her vocals and music has helped me through my life since i was 13 - im about to turn 28 next week.

The first time i came across her was just from seeing her cover of the falling into you album while i was away on a family holiday in Cyprus - to which i brought it - just by an off chance as i thought the woman on the cover looked pretty. i listened to the album none stop while on holiday and found that listening to her vocal gymnastics just took me away emotionally. growing up i was an outcast within my family and suffered abuse from my mother, i never had someone to talk to about home life - or a mum to talk to about anything else that a young teenage boy needed to talk about - especially regarding coming out. i found that through celines vocals it gave me so much reflection within myself and i found a way to cope with the beatings i received along with all the mental bullying i got from my mum and younger brother - celine was my escape and with her help i became stronger.

when i turned 16 my mum attacked me quite badly and the first thing i did was put on my celine music - i listened to miles to go - us and where is the love - now i know they are love songs but the emotion in them made all my anger, upset etc and made me feel stonger - to which drove me to the point of leaving home at that moment - never looked back and landed on my feet - i put myself through studying veterinary nursing - had my own flat - my own dog and horse - and my own job. i did all this with the constant support of celines strength through her music - or more celines music giving me strength from self reflection.

then of course there are the break ups that she has supported me through - and now she has supported me in changing my life around and making me see that whatever my dreams aspire to be that if i work hard i can achieve whatever i put my mind to - to which i went back to education to study art - and have now got into university to study fashion design to which i am going into my second year. all of this being from my own hard work - but it would not have been possible if it wasnt for celines example that she so openly shows and for her vocal talents being there for me when i needed to escape and process and evaluate life situations - its quite hard to explain but its her vocals that have been a strength to me, how is the hard part for explaining.

These are all so touching stories

I haven't lost anyone dear to me but when I went to high school I often felt so terribly alone. I was bullied and I had no friends because my family was poor and I could never afford myself any fancy clothes my classmates wore. Then I used to go home, cry into my pillow and and listen to Celine's music. And the world didn't seem to be such an awful place anymore.

The key is to let her. As some of you know, I was born with some sight but lost it all just 2 months ago. I have spent the last month running from her because for some reason, it was too painful. Not sure what brought me back to her, but slowly but surely she IS helping. So when things get darkest, run to her, not away from her. Amazing stories everyone, your loved ones must be so proud of you.

I don't remember a particular moment of my life but very often, when I feel sad, I listen to 'Tous les blues sont ecrits pour toi' and I cry, and, finally, I just...feel some kind of relief.

Celine,has always comforted me with her music her voice, especially when I had to put my best friend a rescue cat suki to sleep of old age at the vets,I did hold her while they put her to sleep and god was that hard to see we had been together for a long time i will never forget, which I did find very difficult when living on my own I lost a companion and a good friend my cat she felt like family to me and I always will miss her.I guess a lot of people would not understand how I felt really.

I went through a very dark time where i was about to commit suicide. I was getting bullied and my grandmother was passing away right infront of me . She lived with my mom and dad. As i was about to plunge the knife into my chest i heard the lyrics to Celine's a new day has come, let the rain come down and wash away my tears( that part, in my head. and then i decided not to commit suicide. Since that day she has gotten me through countless anxiety attacks and such. But i will never forget that day. I wish I could tell her how much she means to me in person. I have only seen her in concert once and i was in the nosebleed section lol.
