Biggest selling singles artists during Queens reign

The BBC are completing a count down of the 50 biggest selling singles artists in the UK over the past 60 years and Celine is ranked 35, ahead of Beyonce, Mariah, Coldplay etc. Considering she hasnt had a top 10 hit in a long time I think this is great.

Great news. I could see this coming. ''Think Twice'' and ''My Heart Will Go On'' have sold over 2.5m copies in Uk (combined) and she has had many top 10 hits during the 90s. Even ''Only One Road'' and ''Pour Que Tu M'Aimes Encore'' peaked within the top 10. Mariah will be very close to Celine though. She's scored more hits in Uk. It's just that she never reached the success of ''Think Twice'' and ''My Heart Will Go On''. Her best selling is ''Without You'' that sold something more than 500k. Anyway, I'm glad about Celine! That's a terrible misconception [about Mariah].

 

She's sold around 28m albums in Europe - including an impressive 7m+ in the UK.

 

Whilst her biggest markets are in Asia and North America, her European sales are still extremely impressive.

I meant compared to Celine, Madonna. You'd think they were neck and neck

Well yeah, Celine outsells Mariah in virtually every European country - in fact, I'd have to double check my figures, but I think that it actually is EVERY European country.

 

But that still shouldn't give people the misconception that Mariah isn't big in Europe. There's only Madonna, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston and Tina Turner that have comfortably sold more albums than Mariah in Europe.

You guys know what's bizarre is that the My Love Essential Collection album was huge in the UK. People there haven't really forgotten her.

Not including album sales.

 

Celine's album sales are creeping towards 12m in the UK - absolutely sensational total, bettered only by Madonna as far as females go [though Whitney isn't far behind on around 11.4/11.5m].

 

In total, Celine has sold in the UK...

6.6m singles

250,000 DVD's

 

~ 19m records in the UK
