Does Celine get enough privacy?

This topic come from a question that I asked in the "what on your mind topic" and after a quick PM to sfbaysinger it seens that there a topic for this.

 

Now it all very well and good that Celine is sharing her life with the rest of the world, I often wonder if Celine get enough privacy.

 

One thing that got me worried (and I'm sure that there are other things that been made public) was durning the "Through The Eyes of the World" where you could see Celine's vocal cords.

 

What do you guy think? Do you think that she (Celine) is sharing things that should be private in the first place or would you say that if she (Celine) didn't want us to know too much about it that she wouldn't make it public?

Celine would not show these images if she werent happy, she likes to be an open book!

I am really glad Celine is such an "open book". It allows people a look into, not only her life, but the life of an artist. I'm sure they delete many, many hours of personal stuff. She has also said that she likes the attention. That is one of the main reasons she followed her love of singing into the professional rhelm. I think she is a fantastic person and always look forward to seeing her in depth videos.

I think it was agreat idea to show her vocal cords in that documentary because she was cancelling shows at that point and that was proof that she really couldn't physically do another show.

I am really glad Celine is such an "open book". It allows people a look into, not only her life, but the life of an artist. I'm sure they delete many, many hours of personal stuff. I got nothing againt Celine being open, I guess the real question is where that line is in regard in how personal Celine should be with her fans. Like I love how they included the second DVD with "A new day" that show what happens backstage. I love how they show how the smoke machine work, how people go flying and so on.

 

With Through The Eyes of the World, I love how they talked about what Celine should be wearing as there are some places where you need to be careful. I also like the fact that they included some history as well, I did learn something from that. Now I could go on and on but I will say that there are lots of thing I enjoyed (heck I even learnt something too) and there some things that I wouldn't expect Celine to make public.

 

At the end of the day as long as Celine is happy with making all this stuff public that all it matters.

 

Also I suppose we all have a different opinion about where that line is.

You know, I think it is her choice. Some people (celebs) are very open, others are not. She herself chooses what to let us know/see/hear.

Celine CHOSE to be an open book, no one forced her to. I'm very bsure she has a choice on what she wants to show and what she doesn't.

I think she is wise and smart enough to show what she wants to show, an be "an open book" she show "so much" that tabloids or gissips shows don't care about her, and even when something happens (Remember Rene and her sex assault allegations?) she (or her PR team) deal with it very classy...

I know in the past that she had talked about where to draw the 'line'. I remember when RC was a baby and she talked about when they would take him out in public on walks and things they would ask people not to take pictures bnd more recently when she goes to his baseball games she just wants to be there watching her son play, not signing autographs or posing for pictures. So I think the 'line' is really when her kids are around and she's just being mom, not the celebrity.

 

As far as being too personal, sharing too much. For TTEOTW Celine said many times in interviews that when she and Rene were looking at all that footage they thought that it was too good to keep just for themselves and they wanted to release it for the rest of us to see. Now as far as what was actually released on DVD I'm not sure if Celine put in any imput, but I'm sure Rene did - that's his job.

 

Also, I think that she's been able to get more privacy now that she has kids than before when it was just her and Rene. I think that they've made that a priority obviously for safety concerns for the kids.

Many celebrities cross the line into tastelessness and ruin their reputations, but I don't think the whole "vocal chords" scene does that. It's actually very interesting because she is after all a vocalist who relies so much upon her instrument. And while few vocalists have ever been so candid, there is nothing "dirty" or risque about it, really. It's actually quite fascinating.

If she didn't want that she would not do that. I think that one of the facts that has made Celine popular is that she is an open book for other, and you can see her personality , her pains, her happiness &... Better and can connect to her better...!!!!

I'm always shocked how much privacy she actually has. She shares and televises as much as she wants but still leaves a lot unknown. Celine's image is so tightly controlled there is no way anything would get by Rene that would be too much if that makes sense. If you think about it Celine shares a lot but it's all the same so it only sound like a lot but it's not. I remember reading a quote from Michel saying there have been bad men in some of his sisters lives but we never hear about that stuff because those things are kept quiet. Celine and Rene know what they are doing.

That well said, I'm glad that Celine ask that when she with her kids playing baseball etc that she ask that people don't take pictures and such.

I agree with most people here. I think everything Céline shares, she wants us to know. I am a firm believer in privacy and also a very private person myself, and I've never felt that anything she has shared with us is "too much." Well, maybe the times when she talks about diapers.

It's funny i was just thinking about this two days ago. I think she gets enough privacy, and just because she is an open book doen't exactly mean we know everything about her. We don't know how she is with her kids when she disciplines them, or if she is intimate with Rene, or other personal things that we don't know about it. It's like what some of you are saying abouit that she draws a line or there is a boundary where the media can cross. I just think Celine is an open book but not too extreme.

I agree with most of you, esp. with Alex, Melissa and imaswede78.

 

She indeed is an open book but only as open as she and/or René decides it to be open.

She's very (self-)controlled and very smart and knows exactely how much to share and how much to keep for he/themselves.

 

She may talk/show some kind of things that seem very private like the vocal cords or some details about her babies/kids but if you take closer look on that, apart from the fact that she often repeats the same things, these subjects are harmless, they can't be used against her image, they can't show her in bad light etc.

 

If there are any things that could have been used against her by media, they are smart enough to keep all that private and probably have enough well-organized and trusted staff behind them to keep the media away when they really want to stay private.

Yeah, trusted team is a keyword here - I bet many celebrities' secrets and less nice stuff leak to the media "thanks" to unreliable staff members and house workers.

 

I also like her way of putting her children, her family at the first place while somewhere in public as a private person.

I can imagine it could be a bit disappointed for fans who happen to meet her at such occasions and she than refuses an autograph or a pic but if I were a celeb with kids, I'd act exactely the same way. Her kids want to have her mummy when she's with them and not a superstar singer who just happens to go out with them but is busy with her celebrity duties.

 

I believe that Céline showing us so much of her private life is very well calculated. I don't mean to bad-talk her - in opposite: I think it's a pretty fair thing to do and I appreciate that a lot. She gives us as much insight as she thinks is good to keep us close to her and her close to us but also draws the line to devide fans and showbusiness from family and her intimate and really private life where noone apart from her family and close friends has no access.
