Did Celine see "Priscilla Queen of the Desert" tonight?

No offense, but I don't really see Celine as the type of person that enjoys Broadway, especially a racy show like this. She's much more family-oriented these days. Would be nice if she was really in NYC though.

I'm not offended, but I do disagree strongly: Priscilla is not racy. The staging of Seduces Me in A New Day... was as racy as anything in Priscilla. And Priscilla is very much a show about family.

 

Back to the topic at hand, it turns out it wasn't Celine. Or Jennifer Rush. It was another singer of

The Power of Love: Huey Lewis.

Did I even mention the word 'inappropriate' in my post? Let's see, compared to The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Mary Poppins, yea, I'm sticking with my opinion and the dictionary definition of racy and saying this is a racy show. That doesn't make me ignorant.

 

In all honesty, never heard Celine mention Broadway once other than her cameo on The Nanny. Forgive me for my lack of knowledge. I apologize if anyone misconstrued my post.

Celine has done far more risque things in her career, including wear a transparent black lace dress to the Grammys (and flashing her thong in the process), star in a miniseries De Fleur Sur La Neige including a nude scene (we see a shot of her nipple..) where she plays a girl whose stepfather abuses her and tries to rape her, etc.

 

Not to mention this monstrosity

Actually, I've always gotten the impression that Celine wasn't too interested in doing Broadway. I've never seen her bring it up herself (the way she's always bringing up how she wants to do movies), and when she's asked about whether she'd ever want to do Broadway, the impression I get is that she's trying to be polite/diplomatic, saying something like, "you never know," or "that would be great," but she never seems that enthusiastic about it.

 

I have no idea how Celine feels about watching Broadway shows -- but remember the hysterical Rosie episode where Rosie tells her that she (Rosie), Celine, and Rene should go that very night to see Lion King on Broadway? Rosie and Celine were too funny.

 

Anyway, though I doubt it will ever happen, i would LOVE to see Celine on Broadway. I can see her being completely amazing in a show like Les Mis as an Eponine (though maybe she's too old for it now) or Fantine. The emotion she'd bring, and the amazing songs. . that would be incredible.

 

Has she ever sung any songs from Les Mis? I think they'd be so perfect for her: I Dreamed a Dream. . or On My Own

Yes, she did those things at the beginning of her career when she still had a lot to prove and was hoping to get recognized. People will generally go to some unexpected lengths in order to get famous. Do you think she would dress in that outfit today? I have no idea either. She's a singer though, I'll tell you that much. Rosie and Celine were hysterical together. Too bad her new show was cancelled before Celine could make an appearance.
