After her historic five-year residency at Las Vegas' Colosseum at Caesars Palace ended in late 2007, the Canadian singer took a well-deserved break, then returned to the 4,000-seat venue in March 2011 for yet another stand. She grossed $40.1 million from 57 performances last year that drew nearly a quarter-million fans and booked additional Vegas dates through this August. Though Dion's last studio album was 2007's Taking Chances, she sold 331,000 albums in 2011, the biggest catalog item being 1997's Let's Talk About Love (75,000 copies). The singer also sold 956,000 digital tracks last year, with the top seller still being "My Heart Will Go On," from 1997's blockbuster film "Titanic" (167,000 downloads). http://www.billboard.com/news/top-40-money...52.story?page=5 Quote

wjd Posted March 9, 2012 at 07:59 PM Posted March 9, 2012 at 07:59 PM Nearly 1m digital tracks is superb, and in line with what the catalog of both Mariah and Madonna sell [and far above what Whitney sold, prior to her death] Quote Céline Dion, music's greatest ever singer, the biggest-selling Canadian artist of all-time and most successful female live act ever - what's not to love?

If this was 90s' era, the figure would be like 4 million albums!!! I do not know how she does it! This is Brilliant! Especially as Celine has been out the public eye other than for a few shows here and there! Im impressed, just think how many she can sell with new albums coming out this year? BTW its nice to see a new topic at the tope of the forum when you go to the home screen, lately there has been no news at all lol and its been positive! kev x Quote

LukeD Posted March 10, 2012 at 12:47 PM Posted March 10, 2012 at 12:47 PM Hi everyone! I made this account a few days ago so this is my first post. Well, I'm glad Celine made to the top 10. I feel she really deserves to be successful, cause she works hard. It's amazing how she keeps selling her music, regardless of being distanced from mainstream music scene the past decade. Her album sales should stand at 180m by now and her single sales at 50m for a great total of 130m records the least (not even counting her Music Dvd sales). What's more impressive is that Celine's career was never really postponed since her debut in 1981, let alone her worldwide debut in 1990. I mean that even in 2010 when she was on a break she released 2 music Dvds that did very well with no promo. Also, even when her album sales weren't that great (for instance her ''Miracle'' album) she could still maintain her success thanx to her sold out shows. It's not excessive to say that Celine IS the most commercially stable artist ever... Especially on album sales. Quote

stevo Posted March 11, 2012 at 01:25 AM Posted March 11, 2012 at 01:25 AM She really amazes me. Most people when I talk to her say 'yeah she's retired now'...(which makes my blood boil) but she still is a powerhouse of sales. It's all about touring these days- I can't believe that she beat Rihanna and Beyonce who aren't off the charts...we know why Rene isn't worried about albums anymore. They've done the hard graft and can rely on The Greatest Hits. Quote
Kyle_Jared Posted March 11, 2012 at 02:48 AM Posted March 11, 2012 at 02:48 AM (edited) 331,000 albums and 900K digital singles is nothing to sniff at when you haven't released an album since 2007!! We know that LTAL did 75K....I wonder what did the second most. "My Love" essential collection?? I can't believe that' still not certified Gold stateside! bfhb Posted March 22, 2012 at 05:06 PM Posted March 22, 2012 at 05:06 PM wow Its great to see Celine still has an active buying audience even in the quieter periods, its just a shame that the radio stations dont play her more and acknowledge this. Rene needs to keep the new music coming to keep radio interested 5 years is waaaaaaay too long!
