Celine at World Children's Day 2002

Let's re-live some classic performances from Celine's career whilst news is a bit slow.

 

Celine's outstanding participation in The Concert for World Children's Day must surely rank as one of her best live performances. It was one of those rare occasions when everything just came together and everything was just so right.

 

Celine performed 3 songs live on the night - That's The Way It Is, The Prayer and My Heart Will Go On - and joined the rest of the cast in the end of concert singalong of the anthem "Aren't They All Our Children" and in that held one of the longest notes of her career at an amazing 13 seconds. She also performed "Goodbye's The Saddest Word" on the night but this was a lipped performance.

Celine's performances at this concert, in my opinion, are among her best. She delivered one of the best performances we've seen of "That's The Way It Is", sung a memorable duet with Josh Groban in "The Prayer" and again, in my opinion, one of the best live performance of "My Heart Will Go On" to date with subtle vocal nuances that she's only ever done at this concert. Her voice was in remarkable shape this night.

 

Add to that her contribution to the singalong at the end of the show when she blew the rest of the singers away I think it all adds up to one of Celine's finest live performances.

Sorry to bust your bubble, but this was one of my least favorite looks. She was her own version of a mullet going on, but the dress isn't so terrible. On the other hand the performances were great! That note during ATAOCAL is AMAZING!

I've never really been a fan of the MHWGO performance from that night. I actually prefer the live version from the Academy Awards in 1998. However, Aren't They All Our Children has always been a personal favorite of mine, specially like Celine's part, stunning belt there! About The Prayer, this is one of the few occasions she did the "give us faith so we'll be SAFE" big note the right way, before she started singing in Italian at the very end of the song. I think she only did that at the Academy Awards in 1999, and during the current show in Las Vegas as well.

 

I don't really like the performance of TTWII, I prefer earlier performances of that song, from 1999. Finally, I'll NEVER forgive the editors of the DVD or whoever is responsible for the dubbing of G(TSW), some fans (I don't know why) are convinced it was 100% live. Can we talk about this? Why are you guys so sure it was totally live?

Well i think this concert was amazing and celine defiantly stole the show with them amazing vocals that night! MHWGO i love and like others say, its one of my fav performances of the song!

 

I would say it was dubbed, simply because of how choppy the video is. If you notice celines mouth doesn't follow the music much at all and on high notes the video becomes choppy. If Celine were lipping this, we know she would have done a far better job! I mean in some parts it looks like she is hitting a different note completely, which would make sense if she were singing live, because she would hit the notes differently shown by her mouth movements.

 

Thats the way it is didnt have enough energy and Celine sang it lower than the CD, but i still enjoyed it! I loved the way david introduced her!!!

 

I have tried to own this numerous times on dvd. Each time it came in the post they were fake, or the one copy which was real, had a fag burn on the disc :@ trust me i was very angry!!!

 

If anyone can help me finally get a copy of this send me a personal message It would make me really happy as i love this concert

 

Enrique is another plus in this concert, i love him too!

 

Overall, CELINE STOLE THE SHOW AND WAS AMAZING!

The didn't dub all Celine's performances. Only the performance of ''Goodbye's (The Saddest Word)''.

As much as I hoped it was dubbed, I don't think it is (think she lipped it and the orchestra 'too'). I noticed they rarely showed the drummer during the song (compared to the other ones in which they show him clearly numerous times), plus when they did show him....he wasn't drumming along the song at all, which leads me to believe the entire GTSW performance was from the CD.

 

It wouldn't be the first time....they did the same with the La Fureur gig I believe (where all the songs were live besides Right In Front Of You)..
