The difference between the 3 versions of La Voix Du Bon Dieu

Ok, I know there are 3 different versions of La Voix Du Bon Dieu. The first version is from the La Voix Du Bon Dieu album, The second is from the Tellement J'ai D'amour... album, and the third one is from the Les oiseaux du bonheur album.

 

I know for sure that the second one is with her family doing background vocals, and I know I have this one because it was on On Ne Change Pas.

 

I need help with the first and the third versions. I can't find a clear description of the differences between these two. Can someone please help me?

Well, notice that one has a TOTALLY different intro to the others. The one with the family background vocals is in 2 versions. One with her family, another backupvocals and alternate vocals.

ur welcome Bell, and u r not the only person who didn't know that there are 3 versions of that song. u would not believe how many people on youtube have the 2nd one labeled as the 1st one.

ok, I think I figured it out (someone correct me if I'm wrong) the intros are different on all 3 versions

 

Version 1) an opera singer sings the intro and then a small group of singers sing "la voix du bon Dieu"

Version 2) you can tell that 16 Dions are singing that intro

Version 3) nobody sings the intro, it is all instruments

and keep in mind, a lot of people on youtube have these labeled wrong because they didn't know that there are 3 versions of this song. that last link says its the first version but, I'm 90% sure that its the third one.

I spend time on this subject a litte while ago with our Map Through Celine's Discography Monday

 

The second single of Celine Dion's first album is the title track La voix du bon Dieu. The song, written by Eddy Marnay was released in November 1981 in Quebec Canada.

 

The single was released by Super Etoiles (C-353) and included Autour de moi as B-side.The song had a pretty good chart run. On November 30, 1981 the song entered the chart in Quebec, spending thirteen weeks on the chart and peaking at number 11.

Did you know there are three different versions of this song? The first version is included on her first album of course, and it contained generic back-up singers. Besides the album you can find this version also on the single and the L'Amour Viendra single and the promo samper On Connait Notre Musique!

 

The second version of the song is included on Céline's second French album Tellement J'ai D'amour.... The vocals are the same but the entire Dion family accompanied Céline as backup singers. You can find the this version on the1984 and 1986 compilations Les Plus Grand Succès De Céline Dion and Les Chansons En Or, and the 2005 On Ne Change Pas.

 

The third version is included on Les Oiseaux Du Bonheur, released in France in 1984. This version includes new vocals by Céline and different backings, there is no singing in the intro for instance. The music also has a softer orchestrations. The third version was included on many of the compilations of the nineties and beyond like C'est Pour Vivre and The Collection 1982-1988 both from 1997 and on The Best Of The Early Years from 2007. The song was also included as a bonus track to the 2002 CD re-release of Céline's first album in France Du Soleil Au Cœur.
