The vocals sound much more polished. I personally think its MUCH better than the orginal and sounds like something from One Heart. I dunno where its from or anything but I wanted to share the gem. I listened to the youtube link given here, and that was the same key as your extended version. The original is indeed in a complete other key. But apart from that, I don't hear much difference. Lowering or making a key higher is something you can easily do with Audicity.
