zuv Posted November 6, 2020 at 01:27 PM Posted November 6, 2020 at 01:27 PM I never liked that song. I mean its ok, but I think it was a wise decision not to include it in the original album. It would have been totally miss placed. Quote
ryba Posted November 6, 2020 at 03:41 PM Posted November 6, 2020 at 03:41 PM I never understood why she performed a song that was never officially released on a TV show and made the effort to film an elaborate video with 3 versions of herself singing backup. Does someone know? Quote

Xpresso Posted November 6, 2020 at 05:06 PM Posted November 6, 2020 at 05:06 PM They should release it as a single and re-release TAST with it too. It could become a classic. 1 Quote

smw Posted November 6, 2020 at 06:06 PM Posted November 6, 2020 at 06:06 PM I think it’s a cute, fun song - but I think there are much stronger songs on TAST. Glad it’s been uploaded to her official YouTube! 1 Quote

Does someone know? We seem to go through this every holiday season. The song is from a compilation Christmas CD that was released in 1998 or 1999 - I still have it - called And So This Is Christmas. There was a TV special that aired to promote the album and every song (or almost every song) aired on the special with a specially created video for the TV special. So, a "music video" wasn't created for the song. It's part of a TV special. https://www.amazon.com/Christmas-Martin-Gloria-Estefan-Babyface/dp/B0002CH6TY 4 Quote
Shaun Posted November 6, 2020 at 06:34 PM Posted November 6, 2020 at 06:34 PM I always felt “Céline’s Christmas song” should’ve been “The Magic of Christmas Day” or “Christmas Eve.” As ever, missed opportunities. 4 Quote Bringing you the world's only Celine Dion podcast show since 2014.Find us on Soundcloud, Apple Podcasts, Spotify & Amazon Music.

Christmas Eve could easily be her biggest Christmas hit. They even played it in Germany on the radio 1 Quote
mirage Posted November 6, 2020 at 08:18 PM Posted November 6, 2020 at 08:18 PM Oh yeah!! For Christmas songs it never too late for a release as a single!! I would love a reissue with 4-6 new Christmas songs There were rumors a long time ago she made some new Christmas songs with David Foster. Was it just that or was it something that was true but never seen the light of day. And what about that duet with Josh Groban, do we know what happend with that? I only remember that picture from the studio where Humberto was standing in front of a schedule and it showed their names on it. I always felt “Céline’s Christmas song” should’ve been “The Magic of Christmas Day” or “Christmas Eve.” As ever, missed opportunities. Quote
ryba Posted November 6, 2020 at 10:30 PM Posted November 6, 2020 at 10:30 PM (edited) Maybe they were recording Christmas songs for a future release, and once Mariahs AIWFC wears out and she won’t be the Queen of Christmas anymore, Celine will release them lol Edited November 6, 2020 at 10:31 PM by ryba Quote
Angel2006 Posted November 7, 2020 at 06:32 AM Posted November 7, 2020 at 06:32 AM Wow - does no one else on this forum remember how this song came about? I'm surprised! It was released on a Christmas compilation CD called "And So This Is Christmas" - I bought it just because Celine was on it - probably '99 or '00 due to where I was living at the time...maybe '01. Most of the album is awful! Ricky Martin has this crazy song called "Ay Ay Ay It's Christmas!", Gloria Estefan has this horrible ballad called "Love On Layaway" and Charlotte Church butchers "Silent Night". Celine's song is only one of 2 on the album that I ever listen to - the other is Harry Connick Jr.'s "Silver Bells". All the songs were recorded specifically for this CD and then there was a television special to promote the album where all the artists created a "video" where they just lip-synched the track from the CD (like an actual music video). This is great information about the CD. Thanks Do you know what that television special was called and if it was ever released on DVD by any chance? Quote

As ever, missed opportunities. I don't see the miss opportunity here, you can't make a song a classic just like that. If it was so easy everyone would have one. TATST had a #1 song on it, but it didn't become a classic. The Prayer, O Holy Night or Happy Xmas (War is Over) are the most liked songs by the general public, you can see it in the streaming numbers. AIWFCIY didn't become a classic just like that, it actually made a comeback after it was included in Love Actually soundtrack and after that Mariah started riding the wave. I don't see Brenda Lee promoting Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree, still it reminds a Christmas classic even for the new generation. Quote

Thanks Do you know what that television special was called and if it was ever released on DVD by any chance? The TV special had the same name as the album and it was never released on DVD. I recorded it and had it on VHS for many years. There were a few interviews with Celine and I feel like everyone sang Happy Xmas (War Is Over) in their separate interview segments that were then spliced together IIRC. Sadly, my VHS collection has been banished to a trash heap when my VCR died. 1 Quote
Céline RO Posted November 7, 2020 at 03:36 PM Posted November 7, 2020 at 03:36 PM Does anyone else think that the beginning of this song has a similar tune to Elton John’s “I’m Still Standing”? Quote The best is yet to come...
PuraVida Posted November 7, 2020 at 03:45 PM Posted November 7, 2020 at 03:45 PM Does anyone else think that the beginning of this song has a similar tune to Elton John’s “I’m Still Standing”? I listened since you mentioned it. I can hear it! Is it a saxophone being played in both, is that also why? Can't tell my horn instruments very well... Quote

Oh god no, i’m really not a fan of Mariah, but that song will be hard to beat in the pop Christmas culture... like she became the Christmas singer just because of that song. IMAA(OCD) doesn’t come close at all (imo). Celine do need to release another Christmas album, its so odd that she never did or that Sony never pushed her to release a sequel. For a long time is was the best selling Christmas album of all time, after Kenny G. Quote

IMAA(OCD) doesn't come close at all (imo). Didn't mean it would have the same (or more) success as (than) "All I Want", but Céline's trademark/"flagship" Xmas song (like "All I Want" is for Mariah and like MHWGO is for Céline's English repertoire and PQTME for her French repertoire). They should've released a special edition of the album with a few new tracks. I believe it would still count for the original album's sale. Maybe for its 25th anniversary 1 Quote »»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»»» MATHIAS ««««««««««««««««««««««««««««««««https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzPrxI0AIDY

MTJ Posted November 9, 2020 at 03:35 AM Posted November 9, 2020 at 03:35 AM Once again - just as I shell out for the single on eBay so I can have a hq version, team Celine releases it. Typical. Oh well, better late than never. Plus I have it in hard copy now if it ever disappears again. LOVE THIS SONG! I wish they had added the video, though, and not just the song. I love those Celine back-up singers so much more than I should. 3 Quote
