I have no idea, but I think the video is great and they should upload it in high resolution to her YouTube channel.

Well, it was released a year after her album, so that’s more than likely the reason lol

We seem to go through this every holiday season. The song is from a compilation Christmas CD that was released in 1998 or 1999 - I still have it - called And So This Is Christmas. There was a TV special that aired to promote the album and every song (or almost every song) aired on the special with a specially created video for the TV special. So, a "music video" wasn't created for the song. It's part of a TV special.

oh yes! Christmas Eve could easily be her biggest Christmas hit. They even played it in Germany on the radio

There were rumors a long time ago she made some new Christmas songs with David Foster. Was it just that or was it something that was true but never seen the light of day.

 

And what about that duet with Josh Groban, do we know what happend with that? I only remember that picture from the studio where Humberto was standing in front of a schedule and it showed their names on it.

Wow - does no one else on this forum remember how this song came about? I'm surprised! It was released on a Christmas compilation CD called "And So This Is Christmas" - I bought it just because Celine was on it - probably '99 or '00 due to where I was living at the time...maybe '01. Most of the album is awful! Ricky Martin has this crazy song called "Ay Ay Ay It's Christmas!", Gloria Estefan has this horrible ballad called "Love On Layaway" and Charlotte Church butchers "Silent Night". Celine's song is only one of 2 on the album that I ever listen to - the other is Harry Connick Jr.'s "Silver Bells". All the songs were recorded specifically for this CD and then there was a television special to promote the album where all the artists created a "video" where they just lip-synched the track from the CD (like an actual music video).

I think the tv special was called hulu or houloulu or something strange like that (there was a logo on the stage in the background of Celines performance)

The video was inspired by the 60s music show Hullabaloo, like Mariah's video for AIWFCIY.

I don't see the miss opportunity here, you can't make a song a classic just like that. If it was so easy everyone would have one. TATST had a #1 song on it, but it didn't become a classic. The Prayer, O Holy Night or Happy Xmas (War is Over) are the most liked songs by the general public, you can see it in the streaming numbers.

 

AIWFCIY didn't become a classic just like that, it actually made a comeback after it was included in Love Actually soundtrack and after that Mariah started riding the wave. I don't see Brenda Lee promoting Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree, still it reminds a Christmas classic even for the new generation.

The TV special had the same name as the album and it was never released on DVD. I recorded it and had it on VHS for many years. There were a few interviews with Celine and I feel like everyone sang Happy Xmas (War Is Over) in their separate interview segments that were then spliced together IIRC. Sadly, my VHS collection has been banished to a trash heap when my VCR died.

Celine do need to release another Christmas album, its so odd that she never did or that Sony never pushed her to release a sequel. For a long time is was the best selling Christmas album of all time, after Kenny G.

Didn't mean it would have the same (or more) success as (than) "All I Want", but Céline's trademark/"flagship" Xmas song (like "All I Want" is for Mariah and like MHWGO is for Céline's English repertoire and PQTME for her French repertoire).

 

They should've released a special edition of the album with a few new tracks. I believe it would still count for the original album's sale. Maybe for its 25th anniversary
