reamary Posted November 6, 2011 at 08:19 PM Posted November 6, 2011 at 08:19 PM Yeah.. This whole thing worries me so much! And I think it has gotten out of hand already... Sometimes I feel almost sick when I start fearing about all the possible "endings" to the population growth.. I kinda think the policy that China has, the restriction of only having one child per family (or I guess it's not a restriction, but at least the families with only one child gain some extra money or something in China, I think), is kinda good, though of course it has its problems too.. But yeap, I don't have a solution! If we could somehow help the situation in the developing countries (cause that's where the population growth is fastest), I think the answer could be there.. My personal solution is to not bring any more children to this world, but maybe to adopt an already existing one. Alex_Incognito Posted November 6, 2011 at 09:29 PM Posted November 6, 2011 at 09:29 PM This isn't the case in many countries. I know for sure the France and the US are seeing drops in the birth rates. Quote "People pay 20-25 dollars to see you."- Céline Dion, 1990
reamary Posted November 6, 2011 at 09:49 PM Posted November 6, 2011 at 09:49 PM Well yes that's true too, in most of the Scandinavian countries and many other European countries (like Germany), and in China as well, the birth rates are dropping already and in some of these countries the population is in fact declining, instead of growing. But it doesn't help if at the same time in some developing countries the population is still growing even by 2-3 % per year. And usually these are countries which already suffer from a lot of other problems too, poverty, lack of food/fresh water, diseases, etc. etc. Once those problems could be overcome, the problems of the population growth could be too, that's what I believe. The reason why families in some poor countries keep having a lot of children is also that the infant mortality in some countries still remains high, so they sort of "have" to have even more children, in the fear of losing some of them in birth. And children are also needed to support the family and do housework. And of course the lack of contraception, or the lack of information about contraception is one thing too.. I know for sure the France and the US are seeing drops in the birth rates. This is true, most Western countries have dropping birth rates (due to many reasons like; career people: less childern, a higher average age of the population etc),but mostly poor countries and poor countries that are in the process of developing are having booming birth rates. I guess education about birth control should be 1,education (especially in the West) about the waste of food should be 2 (Western countries throw away as much food away in a year as the African countries south of the Sahara produces in a year!!! 222 milion kg ton/ 489425862000 lb!!!! and even tho it's sad: 3 people should stop 'saving' every person, like a very premature baby, or very old person dying of cancer; let nature take its course and don't try to expand the life (of pain and suffering) for months/years, just to proof how smart you are with medicine and operations etc. Just my 2 cents Quote http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v75/daveyh84/incognito198701_zpsaaootxh1.jpgRick, ik hou van jou voor altijd!A New Day... has come 28/29 April & 2/3 May 07Antwerpen 13 et 14 mai,Paris 24 et 25 mai, Amsterdam 2 juinet Arras 7 juillet Chances Taken!!!How Do You Keep The Music Playing? - Celine Opening Night March 15th, March 16th

Ray Posted November 13, 2011 at 10:37 AM Author Posted November 13, 2011 at 10:37 AM It's true that mainly in the 'poorer' countries the population is growing.Still, in the Netherlands we added a few million people in just a few years time.Probably especially people get older. But I wonder if we can ever go back to LESS people.
