Celine/Bette/Elton Show Length Differences

Hey everyone..so I have to post this because it makes very little sense to me. I keep hearing how there is a strict 90 minute policy for shows to last in Vegas. Celine had to cut some songs, cut the length of some songs and keep the show from going over this 90 minute policy. So my complaint/question/comment is why in the world was Bette Midlers show allowed to be longer than 90 minutes? I also found out that the new Elton John show The Million Dollar Piano is nearly 2 HOURS in length with none of his songs shortened or cut for time. So why in the world does Celine's show have to be 90 minutes when these other artists get to have full 2 hour shows....at the Colliseum????? If you read reviews or talk to people who have seen the Bette Midler or Elton show they are close to 2 hours if not the full 2 hours...this makes NO sense to me..any thoughts or clarification on this? Here is a recent description of the show from a viewer.

The pop-rock legend's new Colosseum at Caesars Palace showcase, "The Million Dollar Piano" is almost the opposite of the last one, "The Red Piano."

That five-year run was something of a mixed blessing for fans. At roughly half the running time for roughly twice the price of his concerts outside Las Vegas, "Red" was a rigid 95 minutes in which the star took a back seat to David LaChapelle's audacious video imagining of his catalog.

The new effort is a two full hours, allowing John to perform more as he does on the road and stray from the hits for a couple of deep album cuts. The video has been demoted mostly to graphics that serve the larger stage design, and often seem deliberately generic so he can change up the song list.

When I saw Kylie Minogue at The Colosseum in May her show was 2 hours long.

Bette Midler's show was only 70 minutes. It aired on television - I saw it. Also, in every interview I saw her do she would say that the show was just over an hour in length.

Bette's was actually a 90 minute show, however they cut it down to 70 for TV. I saw the show in vegas in 2009

That's interesting to read because a friend of mine saw it in Vegas and then watched it with me when it aired on New Year's Eve and said she didn't notice anything being cut. Did you see the HBO airing? Do you remember anything being cut out of it? Am curious - because I've always wondered why she did such a short show. But again, I saw Bette interviewed on The Joy Behar Show where she talked about the show was just over an hour and she STILL had such a difficult time performing it every night because the stage was so big and she was running all over it.

I did see the HBO airing and it was certainly cut. They cut out the mermaid in wheechair par (Delores Delago). For me it was one of the best parts of the show and a shame they cut it from the airing.

Hey..does anyone have any comments regarding Celines show being only 90 minutes compared to the new Elton John show at 2 hours? I thought there was a strict 90 minute policy yet Elton John has a full 2 hour show currently. How does Celine only get to do a 90 minute show at the most if this is the case? Any thoughts or comments on Celines show?

Accoring to Wiki The Red Piano had 15 songs and The Million Dollar Piano 19 songs... how can that last 2 hours?

Well, for one thing...Celine's show is most certainly NOT 90 minutes. I am currently looking at the bootlegs on my iTunes from Aug 14th and April 15th (those are the two I have that are not broken down into different songs) and they run at 1:43:46 and 1:44:46, in other words...105 minutes. Yes, this includes the roughly 5 minutes at the beginning with the video portion of the evening. However, that is, indeed, a part of the show. So Celine's new show, Celine, runs 1 hr 45 minutes. Clearly there is no 90 minutes policy.

What policy? Maybe that is Celine's wish. She has kids and tries not to put too much pressure on voice with multiple concerts a week. This is 3-year contract and the type of the show makes sense to be 90 minutes.......Enjoy the minutes without counting them  :P
