Celine Dion: A amazing, blessed, gifted woman, mother, wife, singer, and also humanitarian. On top of being the world's best-selling female artist of all time, Celine is one of the most giving celebrities on earth!

 

I wanted to start this topic because Our favorite singer has gave her voice and hard earned money to many Charities over the years, and even started her own foundation, The Celine Dion Foundation which is a non-profit organization that supports various charities and individuals, with a focus on helping children and families in need. Celine has also been a part of some of the biggest charity events and singles in history, which are still an inspiration to people all over the world today.

Voices that care: a 1991 song recorded by a supergroup of popular musicians, entertainers and athletes. The single and supporting documentary music video were intended to help boost the morale of U.S. troops involved in Operation Desert Storm, as well as supporting the International Red Cross organization.

Celine sang after the start of the song and had a big, soaring note at the middle of the song that people really took notice of at the beginning of her english career. Still a note that will always be impressive! Celine is seen singing her parts in the music video.

 

Success: the single reached the top 15 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and Hot 100 Airplay charts, and the top 10 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Adult Contemporary Chart and Hot 100 Single Sales Chart. It was certified Gold by the RIAA for selling over 500,000 copies!!

America: A Tribute to Heroes telethon: a benefit concert featuring a number of national and international entertainers performing to raise money for the victims and their families of the September 11th, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and The Pentagon. It aired September 21, 2001, watch by more than 100 million people, uninterrupted and commercial-free. Celine sang live the last solo performance of the benefit, God Bless America in which Celine moved the world with her vocals and emotion that many people could and still can connect to. The concert raised over 200 million dollars and was given to The United Way's September 11th Telethon Fund. The program was carried by more than 30 TV networks and 8,000 radio stations.The live CD and DVD were released on Dec. 4th, 2001.

 

Success: In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine selected this concert as one of the 50 moments that changed rock and roll.

Won a Emmy award in 2002 for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Special, and was nominated for 6 Emmy's! It also received the Emmy's Governors Award for mounting a music-driven tribute to victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks just 10 days after they occurred.

The telethon raised an additional $12 million in album and video sales. Proceeds have been distributed to victims of the attacks.

The program, which had already received honors from the Directors Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild, won the coveted George Foster Peabody Award.

DVD- Was #1 for several weeks on the U.S. Billboard Top Music Videos Chart

God Bless America single- reaced the top 14 on the U.S. Billboard Adult Contemporary Tracks Chart and Celine later became the first singer ever to perform God Bless America on the Super Bowl in 2003 and Celine also performed God Bless America at her Las Vegas Show A New Day... in 2003 and 2004.

What More Can I Give: a song written by American musician Michael Jackson and recorded by a supergroup of singers following the September 11 attacks in 2001. It had been planned for release as a charity single to aid survivors and families of victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks but was eventually made available as a digital download on October 27, 2003. The websites whatmorecanigive.com and musicforgiving.com sold the song at a price of $2 per download, with a portion of the proceeds from the fee going towards children's charities such as Oneness, Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation and the International Child Art Foundation. The charities support arts programs to eliminate racism, increase education and connect children throughout the world, respectively. The download project had been set up by Jackson with the American media company Clear Channel Communications. The Music Video was aired On October 27, 2003, at the Radio Music Awards in New York, where Michael Jackson accepted the first ever Humanitarian Award for The Radio Music Awards.

Celine had several parts in this song included the big note in the middle of the song!

The Concert for World Childrens Day: Hosted by David Foster, the Concert for World Children's Day aired primetime on ABC Nov. 14, 2002. Every November 20th, thousands of participating McDonald's® restaurants in more than 100 countries worldwide team up for World Children's Day (WCD) to host an unprecedented simultaneous event for children in their communities. This annual, global fundraiser benefits Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®) and local children's causes. World Children's Day is one of the largest global corporate philanthropic efforts of all time, raising millions of dollars and benefiting millions of children through medical, educational, financial and artistic assistance, and this concert was made to raise awareness of this. It raised a huge amount of money and was released on DVD January 8, 2003. The effort raised money from more than 100 nations and benefited orphanages and children's health organizations.

The show featured Celine performing 3 of her songs including a amazing duet of The Prayer with Josh Groban, and also the World Children's Day Anthem song "Aren't They All Our Children" in which Celine sang and unleashed one of her best vocal notes ever sung!

 

Success: Among the accolades bestowed on the production of The Concert for World Children's Day, produced by Executive Visions Inc., is a Primetime Emmy® for Outstanding Music and Lyrics for the World Children's Day Anthem from The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Awarded at the 55th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards on September 13, 2003, the renowned songwriting team composed the anthem as the creative centerpiece of the concert. Come Together Now: a charity single made to benefit the victims of the 2004 Indian Ocean Earthquake and Hurricane Katrina in 2005. It was released on November 21, 2005. The song's origin was an inspiration by the magnitude of human suffering and tragedy that touched so many lives after the tsunami disaster in December 2004. In Hurricane Katrina's wake the song is a combined effort to raise funds for the two global tragedies.

Celine was the highlight artist for this single, and had the big note at the middle to the song packed with much emotion!

Success: This single reached the top 15 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 Single Sales Chart and reached the top 40 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Adult Contemporary Chart!

H.E.A.R.T. Benefit: Feb. 20, 2006, in The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, with Celine - Elton John - Jerry Seinfeld joined for One-of-a-Kind Performance to Aid Hurricane-Affected Families. The Presidents Day evening gala in the Colosseum at Caesars Palace benefited the recovery fund for hurricane-affected employees of the resort's parent company, Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. After Hurricane Katrina closed Harrah's resorts in Gulfport and Biloxi, Mississippi, and in New Orleans, Louisiana, the Harrah's Foundation seeded an Employee Recovery Fund with a donation of $1 million. With added donations from employees, guests and industry associates, the total has grown to more than $3 million. All funds went directly to Harrah's hardest-hit employees. This concert was awesome and raised over 1 Million dollars!!

Idol Gives Back: the name of a charitable campaign that spanned two episodes of American Idol during its sixth season. A second Idol Gives Back concert and fundraiser occurred on April 9, 2008, during the seventh season of the show. The benefit's initiative is to give back to people in poverty in both Africa and the United States (including those affected by Hurricane Katrina). "Idol Gives Back" gathered the largest group of celebrities, musicians, corporate sponsors and humanitarians to create the most extensive philanthropic effort that any network has ever attempted. The event took place over a two-day period April 24th and 25th in 2007. For every vote cast for the April 24, 2007 broadcast, sponsors donated funds to the Charity Projects Entertainment Fund. The Charity Projects Entertainment Fund distributes the money raised to Save the Children, the Children's Defense Fund, America's Second Harvest, Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Children’s Health Fund [1] to help disadvantaged children in the United States. The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis & Malaria, Malaria No More, Nothing But Nets, Save the Children, and the U.S. Fund for UNICEF will receive money to fund programs in Africa. Celine took part in the first two years, and the first year Celine performed a incredible duet with Elvis using rotoscoping of "If I Can Dream", an incredible, moving song that Elvis first sang live in 1968! The duet with Celine and Elvis looked very real and was the most talked about performance of the night! Celine gained a lot of respect with this performance and sounded great!The show in 2007 earned more than 76 Million dollars for the charities and in 2008 earned more than 60 Million!!

 

Success: The performance of "If I Can Dream" was the #1 downloaded music video on I-Tunes for several days in a row after it was aired!

The first Idol Gives Back won The Emmy's Governors Award, and is the Emmy's highest honor. The award, which salutes an individual, company or organization whose works stand out with the immediacy of current achievement.

Sing: a song by Annie Lennox, released as the second single from her fourth solo studio album, Songs of Mass Destruction (2007). The single was originally released as a digital download only single in late 2007. It is a charity record aimed to raise money and awareness for the HIV/AIDS organization Treatment Action Campaign.

The song is a collaboration between Lennox and twenty-three prominent female acts and artists. As Lennox reported herself on her official website, this song is about raising money and awareness for HIV and AIDS.

 

Success: This song reached the top 30 on the U.S. Billboard Adult Contemporary Chart and the top 20 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Club Play Chart.!

We Are The World 25: On January 12, 2010, Haiti was struck by a magnitude-7.0 earthquake, the country's most severe earthquake in over 200 years. Over 230,000 civilians have been confirmed dead by the Haitian government because of the disaster and around 300,000 have been injured. Approximately over 1.2 million people are homeless from the disaster. To raise money for earthquake victims, a new celebrity version of "We Are the World" was recorded on February 1, 2010 and released on February 12, 2010. Over 75 musicians were involved in the remake, which was recorded in the same studio as the 1985 original. The charity single recorded by the supergroup USA for Haiti in 2010 is a remake of the 1985 hit song "We Are the World", which was written by American musicians Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie. This song was re-recorded by new artists, in the hope that it would reach a new generation and help benefit the people of Haiti. The song was recorded in fourteen and a half hours by over eighty artists on February 1, and was released on February 12, 2010, during the opening ceremony of the 2010 Winter Olympics. "We Are the World 25 for Haiti" was released as a CD single and a music download. It was produced by Quincy Jones, and executively produced by Lionel Richie, and Haitian-American musician Wyclef Jean. A music video directed by Paul Haggis was released to accompany and promote the song. All proceeds from "We Are the World 25 for Haiti" will go to the newly formed charity We Are the World Foundation LLC, which will go straight to Haiti. Celine had the hardest part of this single, and gave a amazing vocal note at the middle of the song!

May 8th, 2005 Mother's Day Performance: According to Concerts West, an event producer, Celine Dion’s May 8th Mother’s Day performance of her “A New Day” Las Vegas production raised over $1 million for South Asian tsunami victims. The funds were raised from show proceeds, sponsorship packages, collection boxes set up at the venue, a program book, and silent auction before the show. The proceeds raised were donated to the UNICEF Tsunami Recovery Fund, set up to help with rebuilding and relief efforts for the region affected by the tsunami. Larry King, talk show host from CNN and Honorary Committee Member of UNICEF, was the show’s Master of Ceremonies on Sunday.

 

May 7th, 2006: On Sunday, May 7, 2006, Celine Dion and cast celebrated the 500th performance of "A New Day...", created by DRAGONE and presented by Chrysler at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas. Celine Dion and her partners Dragone and AEG Live marked this special milestone by donating show proceeds totaling $1,027,450 to The Celine Dion Foundation to benefit ten Las Vegas charities. The ten organizations that were selected by a committee of business and community leaders using a variety of criteria as beneficiaries included: Aid for AIDS of Nevada (AFAN) - The oldest and largest AIDS service organization in the state of Nevada. On October 15, 2010, Céline Dion was nominated Goodwill Ambassador of the Food and Agriculture Organization

 

In early 2011, Celine joined The American Cancer Society's More Birthday's Campaign, the worldwide movement for more birthdays by generously donating her talent to sing a special rendition of the “Happy Birthday” song. Celine “Happy Birthday” video debuted on the 83rd Annual Academy Awards, and represents the first time the charity has advertised during the prestigious television event.
