KaasDion Posted August 6, 2011 at 03:27 AM Posted August 6, 2011 at 03:27 AM Does any one know when she last did a live (tv, celine special, concert etc.) version of this song (not splitting hairs about lipsyncing or anything)? MerciLiz Quote
Alex_Incognito Posted August 6, 2011 at 04:02 AM Posted August 6, 2011 at 04:02 AM Never ever. I'm going to go on a limb and say that she's never ever performed this song live. Quote "People pay 20-25 dollars to see you."- Céline Dion, 1990
SensationalCeline Posted August 6, 2011 at 05:05 AM Posted August 6, 2011 at 05:05 AM I love this song. Got me through a lot. I would love to hear it live. Quote http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg280/spoiledrottenbrat4063/Celine%20Dion/CELINESIGGY.jpg
Claudette Posted August 6, 2011 at 08:51 AM Posted August 6, 2011 at 08:51 AM (edited) I absolutely adoooooooore that song. It is such a shame sooooo many of Celine's songs go into the ''I can't remember I ever recorded it'' bin. Spoke to somebody about this exact same thing last night. Why doesn't she perform some of her own never performed songs instead of the same old boring songs and covers? When will they realize people actually want to hear them? Thomas Posted August 6, 2011 at 09:25 AM Posted August 6, 2011 at 09:25 AM I absolutely adoooooooore that song. It is such a shame sooooo many of Celine's songs go into the ''I can't remember I ever recorded it'' bin. Spoke to somebody about this exact same thing last night. Why doesn't she perform some of her own never performed songs instead of the same old boring songs and covers? When will they realize people actually want to hear them?I think they realise some people want to hear new/unused material but Celine and Rene seem to cater for the mass market and those people who hear her on the radio and recognise her as "the girl who sings the Titanic song". They want to appeal to the soccer moms and the casual listeners with the deep pockets who will walk in off the strip because they recognise her name and feel it'll kill an hour or two. Quote from the LA Times article earlier this year about song choice in the new show: In a garden," she said of the varied repertoire, "you don't have to grow roses only. It's OK to grow tulips too. It's OK to grow gardenias. I don't think it takes away from the roses." In the end, though, her show comes back to her hits — because under the firm contract she has with her ardent fans, it must. Dion tells a story that a few years back, she decided she wanted to cut off her billowing locks. Her husband told her: "They won't like it." "And they hated it," Dion said. She said she confided to a member of her entourage: "I don't even own my hair." "He explained to me: 'Everything in their life changes. There are so few things in their life that are stability. You are that stability. It is beyond music.'" By now, she said, she's comfortable in that relationship with her audience. "They know what to expect," she said. "For them, it's security. They trust me."I hate that they feel we need to hear BYLM for millionth time just to have security in our lives. It's really nothing to do with that, I think the real fans who want the best from Celine are so misunderstood. Quote from Mego regarding Rene's decision to keep song arrangements the same year after year: ...One thing is sure tough: usually René likes to hear the hits the way they were made originally for respect to the fans who love these songs...So really, we can't win. Celine and whoever else thinks we need to hear nothing but radio hits year and year and just to top things off, Rene insisits they never get new arrangements. It's so frustrating! I've said it before but I really think it comes down to the terrible relationship we have with Celine's team. We have so many fantastic ideas on this forum and no matter how hard we try to get them across (and messages and ideas are passed on to practically anyone who can help, be it dancers, band members, hairdresses...anyone at all who will listen) it still makes no difference. It's like we're all here wanting and begging for new things and fresh ideas and Celine and Rene just carry on regardless doing what they think we want and quite often it completely misses the mark. Haven't we told exactly that sinc ages? Didn't many fans say that after knowing the show's setlist crowded with covers and the same songs again? Surprised to see you say so, Claudette. I thought you were on the side "let Céline sing what she wants to sing no matter its about the same songs she's been singing a million times before and those totally random covers" You know I totally agree with you then And I'm sorry to say this about a thing Céline is doing in her career, but to me, the show it's completely unappealing *at the present time* Quote "Hush, now... It's all contradictory, because we say Céline is the most caring artist with fans, that we have the best relationship and all that. Really? It's all based in "I love you/I love you too" and then the same back again. Every day. But when it comes to tell them "hey, what about this or that song" it's like uhhh?? excuse me?, what are you talking us about????. So what can we really talk about with them? What can we say? What is the feedback they want to receive? 0. There's no dialogue. There's no communication. And sorry, but I think René is too conceited pretending to know what the fans want. Who has he asked? Here's reunited the biggest Céline Dion community in the planet. Has he ever asked anybody? Cold cold relationship... Edited August 6, 2011 at 09:42 AM by Javito Quote "Hush, now... A relationship where everybody is always happy and praise everything the other person does is not a good/healthy relationship. We all get frustrated with our loved ones and that is normal. Unfortunately some members here do not grasp that concept yet. I think they can still keep everybody happy. She can do her hits. I can live with that, but why all the random covers? They can easily replace them and put something in there for us, her most devoted fans. Who knows, the casual fan might even surprise them and begin to like these songs. They don't know the other songs because they've never heard them. You can't get people to like something if you don't expose them to it. Like you guys say, it is really frustrating to know that they don't even bother to take some of the suggestions into consideration. They don't even want to give it a shot. Edit: Have to admit, the new show has kind of lost its appeal to me too. It is great to see her live and you get carried away in the moment. But once you've returned home and got a chance to get back to earth and listen to the bootlegs, you realize that it is actually a very boring show. There is nothing that has me hooked anymore. I hope Celine will prove me wrong, but I do have some doubts that that show will survive 5 years in the form it is now. More if you take into account that many fans reviews say that the audience is dead/inexpressive half of the show. But surely Renés analysis about this is that the audience is speechless and they don't have enough breath to articulate a word And knowing them, their solution to this will be to add a couple more of random covers here and there, and the story repeats again. It's a vicious circle Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"

Shaun Posted August 6, 2011 at 06:31 PM Posted August 6, 2011 at 06:31 PM Claudette you've kinda hit the nail on the head about the current situation for me regarding the new Vegas show. It HAS lost it's sparkle. For me personally I know this as I have no desire to go to Las Vegas to see it. I went to Vegas four times to see "A New Day..." - I knew I HAD see that show and once I'd seen it I wanted to see it again. Celine Dion live singing an amazing set list and a theatrical production thrown in as well? It just worked. I've followed her across the world seeing the "Taking Chances Tour" in London and Paris. I knew I HAD to see that show. It was an amazing production. Back to "Celine" in Vegas then. I don't get the same feeling about that show. I'm not having my vacation in Vegas this year and not next year either. If Celine was singing a "Best of Celine Dion" set list I'll tell you now I would probably book my flights tomorrow. Sadly she's singing "The Unknown Songs of Other Artists" set list and you can add all the special effects and orchestras in the world to that but if the songs don't work then they just don't work. And they don't. Like Thomas and Javito have said, is there a larger community of Celine Dion fans somewhere that I don't know about? Somewhere else where everyone is wanting her to do well and wishing the best for her? Somewhere else that we are all begging for her to take a real chance and move on from her "comfort zone." If there is I've yet to find it. The relationship Feeling / Sony have with the forum and the arms length nature of it is staggering. No-one here wants to see Celine fall down or her songs / shows be unsuccessful or appealing. We all want the best for her and the best showcase for her. Does the "Celine" show really do that? I have lost interest in the Vegas show as well. It's become very very bland to me. Can't see it making it for 5 years. And this is how she loses all those casual fans, which is saddening. A thought that came to me was why not have extended versions or do the remixes of The Hits that would be cool too! Like what they did with LCMM and the Unison rap part in AND...(and I'm not saying to copy this idea again BTW). But I know, I know Rene won't allow that to happen. bumper... Quote
empress Posted August 6, 2011 at 10:59 PM Posted August 6, 2011 at 10:59 PM I, too, agree. I was thinking just the other day that she should drop the Stevie Wonder part of her show. It just doesn't add anything. I enjoyed the show, as it was the first time I have seen Celine live, but was left wishing she had sung her own stuff instead of sooo many other people's songs. Her voice was great, she is lovely, but I would have liked a little more...something. The show needs a little more spark somewhere. Also, sorry folks, but I really didn't like the James Bond set at all. Quote
I Love You Posted August 6, 2011 at 11:44 PM Posted August 6, 2011 at 11:44 PM Amazing song, I love it allot. Would, sound amazing in her new show. Quote
Gicedi Posted August 7, 2011 at 01:41 AM Posted August 7, 2011 at 01:41 AM I think we should inform Celine and her people about all that with a letter or something. Its not bad for them to know her fans opinions. Maybe they need that to understand that we need other things too than the same songs every time and the blaybacks. Quote https://youtu.be/D2KKDewXvJE
Celinefanatic07 Posted August 7, 2011 at 07:09 AM Posted August 7, 2011 at 07:09 AM For me the show was absolutely a dream come true. it kept on getting better and better! everything was PEREFCTLY AMAZING! although I WOULD love to hear some old songs that never saw the light of day. like AWTBI, TYLAM, LDAY, CTM, GBTSW, and Misled Quote http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k124/oldies830/mgean_2.jpgDO NOT STEAL MY SIGNATURE"It's hard in a recording studio, because I'm infront of a microphone, I have to imagine all of you and then I'm able to sing the songs for you...Now I'm still infront of a microphone, with all of you right infront of me, to see all of your faces, That's why I still do it!" (wild applause) thankyou for the flowers - Celine after a flower moment 9-22-08
smash Posted August 7, 2011 at 03:15 PM Posted August 7, 2011 at 03:15 PM Hi Claudette, you have said everything like we were talking the other night. Bring in the older songs, there are so many fantastic songs that we have not heard for years. But these same old songs that she is singing now, i am so tired of them Same songs over and over and over, for how many years now. I was wanting to go to Vegas to see the show some time, but as the show is now, no thank you, i'm not interested. Never in my life did i ever think that i would be saying that about Celines songs, that those words would ever come out of my mouth, but its just become a bit too much of the same songs rammed down our throats now for so long. Oh my word, Celine means the world to me, i am so in love with her, and will always love her forever :in_love: We just would like something a bit different now. I will always always be a huge fan of hers. I hope she just stays in Vegas 3 years, not 5, have a little break, then do another world tour, with some of her older and hopefully new songs. Now that will most probably only happen in my dreams. Quote
angelil78 Posted August 7, 2011 at 07:46 PM Posted August 7, 2011 at 07:46 PM I loooove this song! Now it's stuck in my head, again! Like everytime I see this topic haha. But that's ok I loved how she brought back some of her old song in Las Vegas this year. The show as PERFECT for old songs Quote
